I've been calling several times a week in the hopes that a military rate for out dates opens up, and today it did! I about inhaled my coffee when the cast member said they had it!!! Got that switched from the AP rate asap! I could have kissed that cast member :D

4 days, y'all! Can't wait!

I've been checking for a month for DVC poly studios and nothing. I know I inhaled my coffee when tons opened up this morning. Got it booked and an hour later most of the dates I saw were gone. So excited to be staying there again for the third time in a year. We keep booking elsewhere but end up switching back.

It pays to keep checking! Congrats on the discount. Have a great trip :wizard:.

Glad you were able to finally get a studio. Hope you have a great time :).

That is so exciting! Same thing happened to us for our February trip. I called at least once a week for a couple of months and was going to give up. My husband asked me to give it one more try six days out, and I was very shocked and totally thrilled when she said they had a military rate open up at the Poly. Have a wonderful trip!

What about the beach area between Tuvalu and Grand Floridian? I know it's not the dead-on view that the beach by the pool would be, but we're having dinner at GF Cafe before hand and were thinking we'd just stop there on our stroll. I know that beach is less popular in general because it's a less "ideal" location. I don't really care if the fireworks of off-center, I just want a place to watch without feeling like I'm in a sardine can.

My husband and I were at the Poly this past New Year's Eve. We watched the fireworks on 12/30 from that beach. It was perfect. I don't think the Poly plays the fireworks music over speakers in that area, but several pontoon boats for the private fireworks cruises were anchored right in front of that beach and we could hear the music from the boat speakers. It's a great spot!

I have a membership to their website and it has a room request feature. I only had to input my reservation number and they sent a fax on my behalf 4-5 days before I arrived. I used the room finder tool to see photos from various rooms in the building to help me choose what room I wanted to request. I had never used it before and was not confident it would work but it seemed to work out very well!
Is there a fee to have a membership? How does that work? I have never heard of it before. Can you give me some more information on this?

Google touring plans room views. If you sign up they will fax your room request for you. I think it's around $15/ year. They have a lot of good info. I have always had good luck getting good rooms with them.

Staying at the Poly for the first time before our cruise this October! Beyond excited!!! Just joined touringplans the other day and didn't know about the room views. That's really cool to see a picture of the view from lots of different rooms!

Yeah, we got our room text on the way there and it didn't have a picture of it, so I submitted one while we were there and was so excited they used my picture.

As others have said, They offer a yearly membership which you can get at a discount if you own their current book. You can access a lot of their book content online as well. They have a trip checklist, customizable touring maps you can access on their app, resort layouts with room views and images, crowd calendars, dining reservation finder, room request fax, etc. Lots of useful stuff.

We've stayed at Poly a bunch of times - this time around we will need to do laundry while we are there as we are at Poly for the second half of our two week trip. Is the only place to do laundry near Lilo's? Or are there any laundry rooms in any of the longhouses? We are staying in the Hawaii building. I figure I can just put the laundry in a small rolling suitcase to walk to Lilo's to do laundry but it would be more convenient if it was located in a closer spot! Also, any idea of how many washers/dryers they have available? I'll probably end up doing laundry at like 6am while my family is still asleep and I take my morning walk around the grounds.

Can't wait to be back next month!

There is another laundry area in the Villas...can't recall which longhouse though unfortunately. We were staying there in July of 2014 in the new Villas using our DVC points and ended up going to the one near Lilo's...and I ended up having one of my tennis shoes REMOVED from the dryer and we couldn't find it. I had to go out to Target and buy new shoes for our trip. Later that evening we returned to the laundry room and it was on top of one of the machines. I think somebody had just gone in and started swapping people's stuff out for fun. It was pretty irritating.

So then we learned of the machines in one of the Longhouses and ended up using them, but I don't know if they are only for Villa guests.

Staying at Poly in early July!! Since we are driving and will have our car, I'm planning to just drive to Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Does anyone know how long this will take? Never driven on property and have no concept of traffic, parking lots, etc. Planning rope drop for those days to do Pandora rides at AK and Jedi Training at DHS....so how early do we need to leave the poly to get to the parks by 8:15-8:30???

Oasis Pool Cabanas/Patios ~ The middle structure looks taller in pictures than the other two on each side of it...but is it larger with more furniture? Is there a difference in the amount of shade provided?

Hi there @Ferrentinos. Yeah, you'll need to walk to the place near Lilo's. There are laundry facilities in some of the DVC longhouses but they aren't available to resort-side guests to my knowledge. I did the photo below for something else but it may be helpful - I go out the "back" door to Hawaii usually to get there. Not a terrible walk, any walk around the Poly grounds is nice in my book!

I'm sorry, I don't know how many washers/dryers. There are quite a few, but it's not a huge facility either.

Make sure to take a non-Amex credit card! The machines don't take MBs or Amex. I learned that the hard way. :-)

Have fun!

Will be staying at the Poly CL and would like to have a small package waiting in the rooms for the grandkids. We will all arrive at the same time on DME. How best to make this happen? Discreetly give to a CM when we arrive and ask them to deliver? Or actually it could be delivered by a CM to our rooms after we get checked in if that is a service they are able to provide? Or send to the resort in advance of our check-in?

Thanks so much! That isn't a bad walk at all - and I typically walk around the grounds every morning from about 5:30 until 6:30... I just can't sleep! I just love the quiet of the resort at that hour. I hope I don't look to suspicious walking around with a suitcase at that hour! LOL! Thanks for the tip about the card - I only did laundry once before at WDW and it was at BC 2 years ago and I made the stupid mistake of paying for the wrong dryer! Worst part was I didn't even notice that the one with my clothes in it wasn't spinning! So I left the laundry room - made the hike to the pool - and then went back to find soaking wet clothing still in my dryer! Felt like a moron! and then had to pay again to get the correct dryer to dry our clothing! So dumb!

I just can't wait to be back... 6 nights at BC and then 8 nights Poly CL ... over our 10 year anniversary and the 4th of July... just can't wait!!!!

Hmm... your options to technically pull this off are going to be pretty limited in my opinion. Disney doesn't really let you pre-arrange room deliveries ahead of time... too many variables with arrival time, room availability, fast turnovers, etc. I once tried to arrange a Disney Floral & Gift delivery to be setup pre-arrival and I quickly learned there is near zero chance of that happening.

You can always try to call DSS and talk them through what you're trying to accomplish, but I'd be a bit worried that may be a dead end.

I think your "safe" bet would be to distract the kids in the lobby, with a Dole Whip, etc while someone in your party checks-in and quickly puts the item in the room. Does that make sense?

Hope that helps.
