Are there kid and/or adult raincoats sold at the shop(s?) at Poly?

I am seeing rain and thunder in the forecast next week when we are there (which, sure, may change).

While I am bringing some inexpensive ponchos, I may need to upgrade them. Trying to see if I can get rain stuff at the poly.

I don't get the hour + long delay in reservation time and getting seated. Apparently it's something that always happens and as such should be corrected!

My guess is overbooking. The ADR system assumes that a meal will take X minutes, and allows booking based against that + table size. But the averages they use are completely daft. Table turn is slower, not just for a table or two, but across the board.

But extending turn time on the booking side would equal fewer tables booked. Fewer tables booked equals less payout for servers and lower win on the P&L statement for the GM, as the staffing is not really the issue and they'd need the same staffing level regardless, making the marginal cost of those tables really the included food. (Booze also adds to the incremental P&L.)

So they overbook. Every night.

lol I love the Poly, but my favorite place to eat is Captain Hook's! lol I love that pizza!! haha... My wife thinks this is extremely amusing.......

I hear you! My favorite MK place to eat is Sleepy Hollow. In trying "new" eateries, I've found a ton of specific things I like at kiosks and counter services.

Three weeks until we check in and I indulge with a Dole Whip float! Pineapple Lanai would have to be my Poly favorite. Too bad it doesn't cover all food groups!

I can see the long waits adding to the "mystique" as well. Since I shop while we wait, they make $$ there too! :P A win/win for the Poly!

As I said, this is just a guess. But given how chronic the late seating is, and the panic people have about booking an ADR, I really do think it's that turn time is understated in the ADR system. Lets you book more guests at same labor overhead.

I freely confess to being a cynic, by the way.

I have been reading bad reviews about Ohana's dinner. We did eat there about 4 years ago and it was really good. Has it gone down hill?
We went the past 2 summers and each time it was delicious. The dessert is so amazing. The food is fabulous and plentiful. I think you'll really enjoy it. I think the biggest problem with Ohana is the wait time. We had a reservation and had to wait over 30 minutes.

I was there last month in Tokelau on the east side of the building close to the TTC and barely heard the ferry horn. The only noisy thing at the poly is the fireworks from the MK. The first time I was there in our room I didn't expect them to echo so much. But not sure what else would make the resort noisier then other resorts.
Thank you so much dzak1717! I heard that the walls were paper thin and you could hear everyone around you. I'm a bit of a light sleeper so it made me nervous. But I'm glad the ferry horn isn't too loud.

Noisy in what way? We stated there may great, in Moorea, and didn't notice any noise. Unless they're talking about the proximity to the TTC and the ferry? Hardly noticed it.
Sorry I didn't clarify gometros. I heard that you could clearly hear the people in the next room. Paper thin walls. But glad to hear the TTC and ferry shouldn't be a worry

I can't speak to the DVC rooms, but we were in a Standard Village room in Niue last week. The first few nights were fine. We had a corner room. But the last few we had neighbors. They did not seem to be excessively loud, but I could hear them - not just the crying baby, but complete conversations. And they didn't seem to be yelling, just using a normal-to-loud voice. We were exhausted by that point in our trip, so it didn't prevent me from sleeping. But it was disconcerting to be able to hear so much.

FWIW, we had a similar experience at the Beach Club. But our stays at POR and POFQ we never hear the people in the other room. Sometimes we hear the plumbing, but not conversations.

Hmmm, I don't recall that being an issue. But it was a year ago. I'll let you know in two months.

no way will they think you are nutso for checking in so early! people do it all the time.. we have often done it. quite a few times we would hop in the car and leave a day early, just to get to florida. check in a cheapo room on 192 in kissimee, lie by the pool, go to old town, eat at ponderosa. check into our disney resort at 8 am! bell services will hold your luggage. you can use al the amenities. we like to hang by the pool. but once our room was ready that early!
other times checking in about noon, our room was ready.. OR they had one ready for us, but it wasn't what we liked andsaid we are willing to wait for a room more to our liking. (I'd rather wait a couple hours then spend the whol 7-10 days in a room we don't care for) .
you'd be amazed at how often we said we would wait for a better room, get all settled at the pool, and get the text the room is ready!

We have checked in early (between 7:30 and 9:30 am) on our last seven trips and plan to check in early again when we arrive in August!! We always get the first flight out so we can start our vacation as soon as possible! We just leave our bags at bell services and already have a small bag packed with pool supplies (especially travel size sunscreen) to apply and then we hit the pool! Twice at that hour they even had a room ready for us!!
Have a great trio!!

Not nuts at all as plenty of people check in that early :goodvibes.

Thank you all very much!
We can't believe we are actually going to WDW for 30th Anniversary trip!

This is a Poly CL question. Does the lounge only offer coffee in the nespresso machines? Is the Kona pressed pot ever offered? If not, I suppose I can order it via room service and maybe enjoy it in the lounge. Anyone do this?

Only the Nescrape machine. . . :(

Aahhh. Just paid last payment on trip. 9 nights at Polynesian, dining plan, hoppers and plane tickets all paid for. All that's left are Halloween party tickets. And never to think about what we spent again! :rotfl: Now the next 6 months is just for planning.

It feels good. :)

I'm going to pay our August trip off next month - it's sad to see the money go, but always exciting when everything is paid for!!! :yay:

Congrats on being paid in full, that's always a good feeling! Enjoy the rest of your planning :goodvibes.

So it looks like the Poly isn't part of the summer discounts. We're planning on staying there in early September but if we can get a discount. Does it not being part of the summer discounts mean it probably won't be part of the fall ones either?
There are definitely deals for Poly in early September available now. Keep searching online and not just directly through Disney. Hope you find something magical!
