My family is stay at the Poly the end of August!! We are so excited!! We are traveling for the first time with DS who will almost be 24 months. Does the Poly provided cribs? and if so are they well cleaned? We may end up bring our own pack and play, but figured I would ask here

Your question has been answered, but I wanted to say I hope you have a great trip :wizard:.

Poly trip coming soon! Question... I tried to search for this but am not able to find quite what I am seeking.

I have Kona booked for 7:30am one of our days. Any thoughts on what time we might arrive at DHS if breakfast is 45 minutes? Or to MK?

Thank you.

MK is just 2 monorail stops from the Poly, so if you're finished with Kona around 8:15 and there's not a long wait for the monorail, you could probably be to MK by 8:30-8:40. For DHS, my guess would be around 8:45-9:00 give or take, depending on how the buses are running and if there is a wait. These are just my estimates based on our experiences, so hopefully others will post their opinions for comparison :).

So excited to stay here in August!

August will be here before you know it! Hope you have a great trip :goodvibes.

I see on Tuvalu that there's a smoking are on the top right corner. Would that smoke enter rooms if doors were open facing the lake? That would be a pretty big bummer if so.

I'm sorry, I have not stayed there so don't know. Honestly that seems to me like an odd place to have a smoking area. I'm somewhat skeptical you'd actually see many/any smokers there, but I just don't know for sure. Hopefully others can jump in.

We have stayed in Fiji twice and the smoking area was on the outside landing in the stairs. Our room was on the end near the stairs and because the doors close, no smoke came into our room. We usually took the stairs instead of the elevator and did have to walk past the smoking area and there were often people smoking.

I just saved money switching from a standard poly room to a deluxe studio for the first three nights of our spilt stay at the end of June! So excited! We've never stayed at the poly before (but have eaten just about everywhere there!) - any request suggestions I should add to my reservation?

Just a question - I read recently about more DVC rooms being released for sale at The Polynesian (ones that were already configured as DVC) - are there are actually more DVC units available than "regular" hotel room rentals?

In the future, is this going to make it very hard to book a regular, non-dvc resort stay?

You're welcome :goodvibes.

Congrats on the savings! I can't help with requests as we've never stayed in a studio, but wanted to say I hope you have a great trip and enjoy your first Poly stay :wizard:.

Two separate things.

There are 3 DVC buildings -- all the rooms in those buildings are "DVC villas". Plus the Bungalows. A proportion of the rooms in those buildings (and the Bungalows) are allocated to DVC Members on points, and a proportion are allocated to Disney, who can rent them to people paying cash for them as well as use them for some other purposes.

When more DVC rooms are being released for sale all it means is that ratio of room allocations in those buildings changes, with a larger % now available to DVC Members on points and a smaller % being for Disney purposes.

It would affect the # of DVC rooms available to rent for cash from Disney (there would be fewer). But, it does nothing to the # of non-DVC hotel rooms available for rent, since they are separate from DVC and in entirely different buildings.

I just changed my reservation from Port Orleans French Quarter to the Poly for my September trip. It's my first solo trip, which I booked mainly to see Pandora. Usually I lug my entire family (all 8 of us) so staying at the Poly wouldn't be possible due to cost, but I figured a solo trip is my chance to splurge! I am so excited!

The Poly is amazing, you're going to love it! Have a great trip :goodvibes.

The awesome moderator, rteetz, over at The News Round Up 2017 thread posted this link with confirmation that this is more than a rumor, it will be happening. Security checks will be moving. I wonder how this change will impact getting to MK & EP from the Poly for resort guests? Obviously it will take a little longer but how significantly will it impact the morning rush? We are planning on our first stay there in August 2018. Those who experience it in the coming months please keep us posted!

From reading that, I would probably take the boat over to MK in the morning - it seems you get on the boat without screening, but screen at the park.

Now we won't have to screen to get back into our hotel, right? Could you imagine being in line to just go to your room with all the people visiting for O'hana or something? Yikes!

A few years ago I went to Universal for the first time, and I remember being caught off guard that there was a security check point when you got to the City Walk area on the walkway from our hotel. I'll be interested to see how this affects the actual flow, but I like the idea of getting to the park and already being done with the security screening, as that's usually the worst part about going to the park for me. It's always just such a cluster.

I remember when we were there the smoking areas were on the second floors on the stairways. Are they still there since the refurb?

At the Royal Pacific Resort- I loved having the screening right at the boat dock while waiting for the boat. It was very efficient and I loved being done and walking right into Universal.

Will construction on the new screening areas be starting soon? Yes I know it's probably minimal construction but here is the back story of where I am coming from. I wanted to stay at CSR for my trip and construction prevented me from even getting a room for my dates (May7-15) I had a reservation at CBR but the extent of construction starting there made me decide to move. So as a treat I am doing a split stay between POFQ (wanted WL but alas construction) and the Poly. But if construction is starting on the screening areas I am starting to feel it is becoming ever more impossible to avoid construction. I didn't mind it when construction was all over at each park and Springs but now it feels like it's at all the resorts at once (POP Is renovating rooms) and a bit ridiculous. At least for me. Oh well.

Excited to try my first Poly stay starting May 11th!!!

I can't answer about the screening area construction, but wanted to say I hope you have a great trip and enjoy your first Poly stay :wizard:.

What's the least congested way to get from the Poly villas to MK for a 8:15 PPO breakfast? Willing to pay $ if a cab/uber to BLT and in through the Contemporary walkway metal detectors if that's the least congested path. Concerned that getting on a TTC ferry will be crowded and take forever to get through security.

What time does the MK open on your day, 9AM?

I would do resort boat or monorail, although check the monorail hours to make sure they are running that early. I wouldn't do the ferry except as a last resort. Cab/uber to CR/BLT is an option, but you shouldn't need to do that at that hour.

Assuming you have seen the new MK opening procedures. For a 9AM park opening, they let everyone in 8ish and you're free to roam Main Street up to the hub. PPO ADR folks are let in 7:45ish.

I never find security that bad that early in the AM, but YMMV.
