Do you happen to know how they define "adult" for pool purposes? Is it 14 like in the parks or actual legal adult? Just want to know if we'd be breaking any rules if I let my teens take my little one (7) down to the pool.

I'm wondering the same. Sometimes our 9-year-old (lots of energy, competitive swimmer) is ready to swim and we're not all ready to walk out the door. I would typically ask our 16-year-old or our 15-year-old to head down to the pool with him, and then I'd meet them there. Would be good to know the situation before sending them ahead.

Not sure if anyone posted this but Tikiman is cautioning people that there are very reliable reports (his friend who is there now) saying that life guards are asking for Magicbands to ensure people are in fact guests of the Poly and children under 12 with no adult present are being asked to leave guest of the Poly or not.

Thanks for this information! :)

We had to scan our bands to enter the pool every day last week. Glad they are finally cracking down!

Glad to hear this ::yes::.

The page count is ticking up fast and we'll soon be approaching the 250 page limit. At that point this thread will get locked and we'll have to move to a new Poly thread. I will be starting to get organized to start the new thread soon. If any one has any interior pictures of the villas - studios and bungalows - please post them here and I will add them to the resort info at the beginning of the new thread. Mahalo!

We were there from 12/2-12/8 and you had to scan to get in...DD and family had tailgaters trying to get in, they said their bands did not work but they had a lot more baggage than someone staying at the resort so she shared with them to go to the front desk and they could re-match their magic bands to their room. If you don't pay you don't play at the pool.

I'm not sure if it has been mentioned yet. They are currently installing baloconies on Niue ans Rarotonga. They seem to be going up pretty fast.

Super glad to hear this - I hope it continues until August. The only thing that bugged us at the Poly was the number of unattended kids in the pool.

That and the Poly is honestly the only resort we have seen people park their car and get out in full swim gear with a cooler of drinks and beach towels. They walked straight through the lobby to the pool. It didn't seem like they were staying at the Poly that's for sure.

About time very annoying when you are a paying guest and can't find a loung let alone a table because people who are not guests just walk in and take up the chairs

I plan on asking a lifeguard when we arrive, just to err on the side of caution, so I'll let you know what we find out. I don't imagine anyone would think twice about my son (turning 18 in January and looks older) keeping an eye on his sister, but I want to know the rule for sure before letting my girls (14 & 7) head down without me.

Your son is so close to being an adult I don't see the issue. Of course ask the official rules but an almost 18 year old should be able to watch the 7 year old and the 14 year old is old enough to be alone.

They consider the adult that will be supervising the child be 18 or older.

They are not installing balconies on the second floors of those buildings. They are replacing the bottoms of the main supports because they have been rotting. This was already done to the east side of Samoa and rumors then were that they were adding balconies. You can see the different bases on the supports over at Samoa.

Just wanted to say thank you for all the work you do to keep this thread going/updated :flower3:.

I leave for WDW tomorrow. Any monorail schedule changes we should know about?

I can't help with the monorail, but wanted to say have a great trip! :yay:

Really looking forward to our upcoming stay, especially after a not-quite-stellar Thanksgiving stay at BWV :( It was our 4th time there and we loved all our previous stays but this one..........well, as I said, really looking forward to our first time at the Poly!

Ahead of schedule, never heard those words used to describe Disney construction before!:lmao:
Did you book a lagoon view room?
Thanks for the info and so glad you had a great trip!

They were really making progress when we were there last week. Major concrete pours and it looked like the entire pool deck was finished. The pool looked ready for its final finish coat as well.

The life guards are definitely VERY watchful. My husband had a coffee cup in his hand as he was walking towards our son (who was in the pool trying to talk to Daddy) and the life guard stopped him within 5 feet of the edge.

We've never stayed at the Polynesian and currently have a standard view at the Polynesian Resort booked. I just noticed that we could get a deluxe studio standard view at the villas and bungalows section. Interestingly enough, the studio is a little bit less expensive. Which would you recommend and why? Thanks :)

I'm thinking about not going to see Spirit of Aloha on our August 2016 trip since we've never been. We'll be staying at the Poly, so I had planned on spending an evening at the later show. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure. It's going to be hot, and it's not air conditioned. Also, we won't have a dining plan, so I'll have to pay out of pocket. I just worry that we would get there and be sorry that we didn't reserve it. Thoughts?

Watch a few sample videos people have taken on the show on youtube. We thought about doing it as I loved some of the iterations of the show they had when I was younger. After watching videos I realized the latest show is definitely NOT something we'd enjoy. (Not saying you wouldn't....the current music/theming just isn't us. Others might enjoy it, but the videos are a nice way to preview if it's your thing or not)
