What about floor requests? We are DVC and have a standard view, so I'm assuming the only real difference is balcony vs. patio? Thanks

Hello! Bumping up to see if anyone has standard villa request recommendations for us! Location feels about the same between the DVC longhouses, so view is our priority. Thanks!

Moorea, Rm 3012 had a nice garden view and was conveniently located near the end of the hall for quick entry/exit via stairs. The only time we did the elevator was when we were heading back from the "very close" TTC or doing laundry. Loved our location! :goodvibes

Just booked our first ever WDW trip and will be staying at Poly Aug 22-30, 2015. Thanks so much for this amazingly informative thread. I am sure I will be checking it again and again before our trip.

Looks like we'll be there the same time! Aug 18-Sept 1  Did you get a "magical" deal? :wizard:

I agree with your comment about the thread too. Last year was our first time at the Poly and, because of all the fabulous people posting on this read, I felt like I knew the resort before I even got there! All the tips and stories are very appreciated. And I like that now I can even share with others! Feels like I'm doing a community service of sorts! Lol :disrocks:

I did get a "magical" deal and I am so stoked to have found out about it. I had thought Poly was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but it ended up being a better deal that CR and BC which were my original top 2 to look into.

I too have the Magical Deal for my upcoming Nov. trip. We could not get the free dining but the resort was such a good deal....we will save some money even without it!

Were first floor in Hawaii. Asked for third or first but garden view. We have a split stay and after a small checkout (one night in universal) we come back to lagoon view in Hawaii. Nice that my husband happened to be on his way to get anything from bell hop and they text vent in Shi he went right to out room, no stop at the desk

You're in one of our favorite spots! My pic to the left is from one of the best trips we've ever had -- Poly LV (or TPV pre-bungalow)! Have fun :cloud9:

I know this might be blasphemous.....but I like...the new lobby...*ducks*
I went in prepared to hate it but....I don't know, I like it. And walking thru and seeing the magic kingdom in the distance? Really a nice touch.

Hot tub working fine and dandy. Room all good to go, no complaints other then, well, our view is the quiet pool to be, so..whatcha gonna do. End of the week we move to lagoon view.

Knock on wood, everything's been perfect.

In fact, I went to activate my old AP and because they now have the photo pass added, they refunded me the 169 I paid for memory maker. A little pixie dust was sprinkled and instead of the 200 & change that I needed to up grade my hub and kids' park tickets to park hoppers, she just said, eh, let's just use the 169 credit and call it a day.

Our trip is just three months away and I'm so excited!! Looking for some advice on connecting and getting close by rooms.

Because my family loves each other only in small doses we have a bit of a staggered trip planned.

My sister's family arrives on a Tuesday. My parents arrive on Thursday. They want to be in the same longhouse and preferably on the same floor. We arrive on Saturday and really need a room connecting with my parents, who are willing to switch rooms Saturday to connect with us.

And we prefer first floor. Three kids, two strollers and small elevators.

What is the best way to get that noted on our reservations? And should I have my parents talk to the front desk folks when they check in on Thursday and again on Saturday to maximize them seeing what they can do?

Nice CM with the AP credit!

I'm with you on the lobby. I like it more than the prior version. It's open and airy and colorful, lots of seating, and the castle in the background adds to the magic. Before the refurb I thought it was getting a little too damp and overrun, to be honest.

Enjoy your trip!!!

New Yorkers? We're going around those dates too. Had to do a Tuesday to Tuesday for a better flight deal.

Oh geesh tried to insert quote and failed! Late April is new York's 'odd' spring break week this year.

Hi,

We just returned from a fabulous stay at the Poly. Club level, park view. We had a third-floor room in Hawaii with unobstructed views.

The Wishes music was not piped in on the beach. A cast member was kind of vague about why not, when I asked him. It was piped in to the club lounge.

One night we did watch fireworks from the beach. Even without the audio, it was fabulous. There were a number of families out. My girls ran o the beach with glow sticks with a bunch of other kids before the show started. Fun!

Just wanted to add my experience as we also just got back from a 6 night Hawaii CL, TPV stay (10/23-10/29). We were in room 3506, a few rooms down from the lounge. Wishes (and HalloWishes) music was certainly piped in on the speakers in the ground in front of Hawaii. We watched Wishes once and HalloWishes twice from our balcony and could clearly hear the music (which was timed perfectly). We never watched them from the beach area in front of the pool, I always assumed you could hear the music there too but I guess you can't from all the reports. So strange as it's a pretty close distance. Sounds silly but for us the TPV room with audible Wishes music is important because kids are young and we're in the room more often than not during fireworks. I was totally happy with it this trip!

On the magical express going to the Poly. So very excited to see the changes. Wheeeee!

:yay: :yay:

I enjoyed reading your report! Glad you had such a great trip! The view you had from Your studio was very nice! I love reading about everyone's experiences, we have our first ever Poly stay booked for the end of next Sept :goodvibes

You are going to love the Poly! I love reading about other people's experiences, too, they always get me excited for my trips :goodvibes.

You picked a great resort for a first trip! Enjoy the planning :wizard:.

I can't help but hopefully others will be able to give some suggestions :flower3:.

I would call and have the same requests noted on each reservation (have everyone request the same longhouse/floor, with 2 of the reservations requesting connecting rooms). You can also maybe have all the confirmation numbers noted on all the reservations having them "linked" showing the requests. I'm not sure how it would work to have them linked with everyone arriving on different days, but hopefully it will work out. With that said, if your parents aren't given a room in the same longhouse as your sister, they can ask if a different room is available in that longhouse (you can do the same thing when you arrive if you aren't assigned to the same longhouse/floor). It isn't guaranteed the rooms can be changed, but Disney will do everything they can to accommodate the requests. Good luck! :)

See you there! We are booked for out first Poly stay for the same dates!

Starting to rethink our longhouse choice for next August. I know it's still many months away, but I like getting my ducks as much in a row as I can, as early as I can. You can call me many things, but you can't call me a procrastinator!

Last August we stayed in a studio, but this time we're doing a regular standard room. We were initially thinking that to avoid possible pool construction, we'd safely choose Fiji, marina side. But now, with the likelihood that the pool will be finished, Samoa is starting to interest me. Proximity to GCH, both pools, transportation, all making it an attractive choice. Plus, I think it'd be nice to have a room overlooking the quiet pool. Can you even get a bad view at Samoa? (I'm ONLY thinking Samoa if the pool is up and running again.) :beach:

From what I have read though, Samoa is the most popular longhouse, so making this my first choice means we're less likely to get it over another.

DH and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary during our vacation , so a nice balcony view would be even more important this time around. Not sure of what to do. Be safe or take a chance? :scratchin

What would YOU do?

I am absolutely no expert but here is my 2 cents. I visited this past September. Honestly I would have HATED Samoa on the main pool side. A ton of foot traffic going by and the noise from the pool goes on until at least 10, 11 in summer. All of the reviews that describe large crowds at the resort of non-resort guests...they are all walking by Samoa. It is the main route now from the lobby to the beach.
Quiet pool side of Samoa seems better once construction is done. We were on the non-marina side of Fiji and loved the view- true not perfect but I liked having a somewhat water view and beach view and seeing GF and landscaped open space, vs dense close foliage or parking lot like some views would have from other standard buildings like Aotorea or Rarotonga. There was some noise from the luau music and drums until 10 or so but almost no foot traffic and general "din" of crowd noise.

GOOD NEWS on our recent Poly trip was that the hot tub was working the entire time.:cheer2: Sorry to say that BAD NEWS was that there were some young kids who's parents were "no where" to be found. SO DANGEROUS imo, not to mention that children cannot regulate their body temperatures, can be extremely unhealthy, and DANGEROUS! :scared1: Could not believe that we witnessed a child , with his parents right there, dunking his head underwater with all of those chemicals, YUK. Guess we were "spoiled" by Aulani's "adult only" hot tub, which was monitored very nicely by lifeguards.:thumbsup2 Wish that a lifeguard could monitor the beautiful hot tub somehow.:scratchin

If you are really leaning towards Samoa, then definitely go for that, even though it's the most requested and you may not get it. Sometimes great things don't happen unless you take a chance! Maybe put on the fax that you send a few days before that it will be your 25th anniversary and that Samoa quiet pool side would make it even more magical. If I were filling reservations and read that, I'd give it to you for sure!
