I need your help diser's! I just called to check on any AP rates for our trip next year and of course they don't have any. We have a room only discount for a CL lagoon view room but while talking to a CM they mentioned that they did have a AP rate for the King bedroom (honeymoon suite) at the Tonga longhouse that has a small lounge and you can use the lounge at the Hawaii longhouse as well. The price would be about $200 a night less than what we are paying for the CL lagoon view room. It would be on the ground floor which I don't want but I know I have a chance at getting a ground floor room at the Hawaii building as well. Help! Has anyone stayed at the Tonga building? What would you Poly experts do. This will be our first Poly stay.
I've never encountered any rude staff whenever I've gone to Disney over the years. My trips have truly been Magical, never any stressed out staff....everyone has been so helpful and cheerful. Now, this is my first time at a Deluxe and first time at Poly....so considering how much more I'm paying...I'm expecting outstanding service and positive attitudes. Let's hope I'm not disappointed. Happy Travels to you All!
I think it's just the luck of the draw. Any CM can have a bad day (& I don't think all guests are particularly nice to the CMs), but a permanently surly CM is not going to be kept on very long.
I share your thrill. This is a great thread, with so many helpful, wonderful folks!

Just a heads up Tikiman posted that the bus times hardware went in today! I hope it is up and running by our trip in 2 weeks.
I always book Ohana late, because then, they do not rush you. I prefer not to eat later, but it makes for a much more enjoyable evening. At least when it comes to dining at Ohana.
Don't worry, I took my time..lolWell if they get rude, you have to get rude right back. I would call for the manager, address the situation and then take forever to finish my meal.
My DH and I decided that the Poly is just not for us at these prices. Thank you for the answers but we decided to book the GF CL TPV. I called back to check on some other prices at other places and found a good (not great) rate at the GF that was less than either of the options that I had at the Poly. The biggest problem for me is paying those high prices and having a ground floor room that will have people walking right past the room, making it feel much like a moderate resort. We like Riverside and have enjoyed staying there but when your paying Disney's crazy prices I don't want to have to keep the blinds closed so passerby's don't look in.
My sisters and I just booked our second sisters trip for June 27 - July 5, 2016! We were there this year from June 29 - July 5 and can't wait to be back. Going for July 4 was so magical for us, it just might be a tradition we keep every year.
We were fortunate enough to get a UPC for our trip in late april. (yippee!) right now we have standard view rooms and the 'savings' from the pin is great! now we're debating whether or not to use the savings as savings (who can't use some extra cash?), consider it our food budget, or upgrade to CL. . . . choices choices. we have two kids (who will be 7 and 3 at the time), and two grandparents (who are healthy, but need 'down' time and 'nap' time too!). planning on a full pool day mid stay and pool days on arrival/departure days. just not sure about the quiet pool construction. i'm not banking on them being done by the end of april. and if we did CL we'd do standard view. and i honestly don't know if it's worth the extra $$ for us. ah, choices choices.suggestions please!! or any other insights welcome!!
We are staying at the Polynesian for the 1st time in December! I was going to decorate our window but then I read that it was not allowed at Deluxe resorts(we usually stay at the CB or AoA). Do they let the rules slide a bit for the holiday celebrations or should I only concentrate on in room decorating?
Thanks!!
We are staying at a studio but booked through Disney not The DVC
Thanks! It's not a must do, the inside of the room will be good enough for us! We are so excited to finally be staying at the poly!
This is sort of a Poly question but is transportation related. We have a dinner reservation at AKL. It seems the most convenient way to get there is to take the monorail to Epcot and then the bus to AKL. But coming back, since our reservation is rather late and Epcot closes at 9 p.m. what is the best way to get back to the Poly?
We are staying in the Polynesian for three night in late January before we leave for a cruise. We are very excited about staying there. Staying at the Poly is a stretch for us we are going on the cruise but we wanted to be near the Magic Kingdom as we are spending two days there. Anyhow, I had to get creative to make this work for our budget. We bought points for a Poly Studio for one night (Wednesday night) that was available.....we were waitlisted for the other two nights as they were all booked. In the meantime, we did get an email that Friday night was available for points so we snatched that too. Cool, two night in a lake view studio. Not cool, there is a day in between there. So on Thursday night, we have reserved a regular Poly room with points we have from our debit card (I didn't realize we had points until I got a statement in our email and we had over 50,000!). So, so summarize:
Wednesday night: Poly DVC studio
thursday night: Poly Garden View Room
Friday night: Poly DVC studio
Do you see my quandary here? Yes, we are going to have to check in and out three times. Is there a good change that even thought we don't have DVC the middle night, they might let us stay in the same room the entire time? I certainly understand if they can't and I am not asking for something for free....this is the only way we could make this work. I know it is based on availability, but if there is, is this a big deal to make this happen or something they can't do?
Thanks for any advice.
Edit to add: I keep looking on the scorecard website to see if they are offering a DVC room with points, but so far they are not. If they do, I will try to switch to that.
