Hello,

I am new to the boards and seeking information about rooms at the Poly.

We (mom, dad and a 10yo son) are taking our first ever trip to Disney World and have a club level garden view room booked.

My questions -

Do all rooms have a balcony or patio?

Any one floor considered better than another? Should I bother making a floor request?

Hi :wave2:

Welcome to the boards! Wow what a great first time to DW with a Club level room at the Poly! Not all rooms have a balcony, only third floor ( all but one bldg. is 3 floors but since you are club level you won't be in that bldg anyway) and first floor have the patio. for me it's just personal preference, I like to be on a higher floor for the views.

Enjoy!

I see on page one of this thread, that it is possible to request a microwave at the PVR.

Has anyone done this and was successful in getting one?

I don't see any availability for PVB studios during the time we want to go next year, and really want to stay at this resort!

I am understanding correctly that 1st floor rooms have a patio, 2nd floor rooms do not have a balcony and 3rd floor rooms do have balconies? I am going to start reading this thread from the beginning tonight.

Either 1st or 3rd would be ok. We like to have an outside area to keep from feeling closed in while our DS sleeps and FL weather is a novelty to us so unless it is below 50 degrees or above 100 degrees, we will sit outside.

Because we booked so late, there wasn't a lot of availability. From the options available, my husband and I decided on the Poly because of location. A bunch of people told us for our first trip, the quicker access was worth the cost. I hope so, this vacation is pricey compared to our typical trips.

Did I read somewhere that the new quiet pool will also have a hot tub? I will be going the 3rd week in April, what do you think the chances are of that pool being open??

Finally, I just received a "magical" quote from a TA that was slightly less than the pin code rate I had - is there any reason NOT to book through them (can I even ask this??)?

The new East pool is getting a hot tub. If you follow Tikiman on Facebook, there are lots of construction progress pictures posted.

I have booked twice through that type of TA and everything went smoothly. Highly recommend. The only potential issue is that if you are including tickets, they are convention tickets and not upgradeable once you are at WDW. So, you have to be sure about the number of days and features (wp&m, ph) prior to arrival.

Regarding the balconies; very interested in this too as I have read different things. The balconies are one pf the reasons we like to stay deluxe. Never stayed at the Poly before and are REALLY looking forward to our first stay there. I'd be really upset if we had a room without a balcony. Anyway of guaranteeing it? Will a request get you one for sure etc.? Not to sound harsh or drastic, but I'd stay somewhere else if I couldn't get one!

We're going next August, also! I got a quote from "the place you suggested" and WOW! What a great deal! Our first trip staying on site, and it's at the Poly! :yay:

I have done a TON of research on the longhouses and am requesting Fiji/3rd floor/marina view. Maybe we'll be neighbors!

So happy for you!!! Maybe we will be and if we do, we'll definitely have to meet! We've got lots of time though LOL

Us too :goodvibes.

Thanks for your review. Glad you had a good time :).

Hope you're having a good time :wizard:.

The Poly is amazing, you're going to love it! :wizard:

I can't answer about the hot tub, but there is a chance the pool will still be under construction in April. Completion was originally scheduled for early spring, but construction started a couple of months late, so that could delay the opening.

We are not, but I wanted to say have a great trip! :goodvibes

Congrats on booking your first Poly stay :yay:. Looks like there will be a lot of us at the Poly next August :goodvibes.
@mickeynut1 We have to meet. I love your ALWAYS positive remarks on the forum :flower1:

First floors have patios. Most of 3rd floors have balconies. Most 2nd floors have none. No guarantees. Only a request.

Has anyone heard of getting a box fan for your room at the poly? I thought I remember reading somewhere that they are available but don't know how I would get one or if this is even true.

We've never tried at the Poly, but we've been able to get box fans at the BW and BLT, and for sure I've seen someone say they got one at WL. I would be surprised if the Poly didn't have them as well. We love them for the extra air, plus the familiar white noise since we sleep with one on at home year round.

We are staying at the poly and doing Halloween events there. No tips though since I have never done it before!

Hope you have a great trip :wizard:.

We're there for Halloween too, but we have tickets to MNSSHP so that is where will will be! :)

Have a great time! We've done a few Halloween parties and always had a blast :goodvibes.

Welcome to the Dis :welcome:.

As others have mentioned, first floor rooms have a patio and only 3rd floor has balconies (no balconies on 2nd floor). Location is a personal preference, but I prefer a higher floor over ground, so my request would be 3rd floor with a balcony :).

I think you made a good choice with the Poly as it's a great resort! You are correct that ground floor has patios and 3rd floor has balconies, but no balconies on 2nd floor.

Unfortunately, there's no way to guarantee a patio or balcony as it would only be a request. Not sure if you would have any other requests, but if you do, I would make "balcony" as the first one if that's the priority. With that said, if you were assigned a room without a balcony or patio, you could always ask if a different room is available. It's not guaranteed your room can be changed, but they will do everything they can to accommodate you ;).

What a nice thing to say, thank you :goodvibes. We will definitely have to meet up ::yes::.

I will be at the Poly in less than 24 hours!!!

Have a great trip! :cool1::cool1:

Hopefully you will post your experiences!:goodvibes

I hope so, too ::yes::

The only way to guarantee a balcony--or patio, if first floor--would be to book a DVC unit. Probably also guaranteed with a suite, though I'm not sure about that. You can book DVC studios through Disney, though they are pricey and I don't think I've ever seen them discounted when the regular resort rooms are discounted. Or you can save money by renting points from a DVC member (not something I've done before, but there's a lot of info about this in the DVC forums here).

Make it your first request if it's most important to you. They try to honour your requests, starting with your priorities. ::yes::

EDIT: oops! This was meant for @rotlex :rolleyes2

One more first time Poly guest question - I have been searching the boards here, and checking the Disney website for 'Ohana breakfast - not trying to coordinate an ADR, just wondering if anyone had luck asking the concierge when they check-in? Thanks all! Love this thread!
