same sort of thing happened to me.
I checked off Patio, Niue and then went back to change it to Fiji but when I went to remove Niue after checking Fiji, it wouldn't let me un-click Niue! I just left it-
At check-in I had been put in Fiji but no patio. As it turned out, I was very lucky to get 3d floor.
I don't think it messes anything up but you could always call. I didn't want to bother with that personally.
Good luck.

I used a TA and I don't really want to bother her with this if it doesn't seem to be a huge problem. I'll leave it as is. Balcony and third floor are the same thing. Just hoping they see Fiji. :)

I am hoping (requested via Touring Plans fax) for a King bed, in either Fiji or Rarotonga. In an ideal world I'd also get ground floor. Hopefully away from construction in Rarotonga but really, if I did face the construction I'm not sweating it too much. That building is at least a bit further away (so to speak) and it's not like they are working at night. I'm not expecting a stellar view with a standard room, even without construction. What I want even more than anything else is early check in. If I can get that I'll take just about anything :)

I think we put less stock in the view than others too. When I want a good view, I book it, like TPV at CR or Arusha Savanna at AKL. I wanted good views so I booked those rooms. When I book standard I'm expecting a parking lot. Construction won't be worse. At least to us.

I'm looking forward to your report back after your trip, interested in seeing what longhouse and view you get! I also have a standard view room booked for next year. I've been lurking on this thread for a while, all the pics and advice here is fantastic! Have a magical trip!

It's official! We are booked! We rented points for the first week of Feb, so it is time I join the thread! This will be our first Poly stay, and we are super excited. We have a group of 10, which will be spread out in 4 rooms.

I am slightly nervous about the construction, and slightly more nervous about the monorail. The monorail is the #1 reason my mom and sister wanted the Poly. Lots can change by Feb, so I will stay positive!

It is nice to meet all of you! This thread has been quite helpful already as has Tikiman's site! Thank you!

We're staying GV CL August 15-23. We booked with the "magical deal", so upgrading to a LV or TPV isn't an option and the savings are enough we have decided to stay put and see what the view is like with construction. Does anyone have any opinion or thoughts about which GV rooms in Hawaii would be the least affected by the construction? First floor vs third floor (would prefer not 2nd, as I really like a balcony or patio. However, given the circumstances, i suppose a better view in this case would trump outside space if there was a big difference). Also the end by the lounge vs the far end. I know this is all just request anyway, so if there really won't be much difference I might just put third or first floor and leave it at that. Maybe I'm just overthinking it :confused3 My DH thinks we should just say best view possible and let the room assigners decide, but I thought that would go without being said and I should actually make a request. Thoughts, opinions? What would you request? I always thought I loved a balcony and view, but we couldn't pass up this deal. I guess I'll find out how important that view, and maybe balcony are, depending on the room we get! It's still better than any day at work!!!

I did online check in. It says you may select up to two. I had 3 and sent it off.

Balcony, third floor, Fiji.

I went back to change it to only two but it won't let me change anything.

Will this mess with my requests? Will they all show?
I have no idea how this will affect your requests, but I don't understand why there is a button to edit your requests when it is impossible to do so. I ended up calling and speaking to 3 different people before somebody could adjust mine. I just wanted to uncheck "early arrival" top priority request. Ugh.

Thanks for posting while you're enjoying the Poly! We're booked for a studio in a few weeks. How is the construction from the area with respect to noise level? We've requested Moorea GV.

There was definite noise during the day, but did not hear it inside our room. At the end of last week/this weekend they were using cranes to do repairs/painting on the outside of Samoa so at times the walkway from the GCH to Hawaii was closed and we had to go through Samoa. They were also cutting down trees within the fenced in east pool. We had GV in Hawaii and never heard a thing while inside. The only time I really noticed the noise was when we were walking around.

sounds like a great vacay so far! glad you're enjoying it! i arrive in about a month and have some concerns, as people in recent weeks have shared some experiences about limited CL breakfast selections (carbs only) and limited evening appetizers (it all looked like it came from costco and there was a lot on repeat). is this still the case this week? i keep hoping against hope that maybe the poly is just on the cusp of a fantastic change... one can dream, right?! :crazy:also, i'm not sure what room category you have, but do you happen to know how rough the view and noise are on the garden view side of hawaii?

the poly really is an amazing resort as a whole and when i visited for a few hours in april i liked some of the changes (even though change is always hard!). just feeling a bit uneasy about CL!

This was our first stay at the Poly and our first stay at CL. The thing we loved the MOST and will probably keep us coming back was how close and convenient everything was. The pool, the monorail/boat, drinks and snacks, etc. The view is amazing. Previously we have stayed at PORS, AKL, FW cabins, and OKW. We actually own at OKW and it has always been our favorite (size of the rooms, lower cost of villas), but now I can easily say that has changed. My kids said they would gladly give up the room size to have the conveniences of the Poly.

We stayed 7/16-7/19 CL GV.

I took pictures of a few of the offerings.
Morning 7-10am: Yes, carbs, carbs, carbs. Cereal, bagels, croissants, cinnamon rolls.
Snack 12-4pm: This changed depending on what they had. Cookies, goldfish, gummy bears, chocolate covered almonds, yogurt covered pretzels, some kind of snack mix, jelly beans. One day they ran out of chocolate chip cookies and I seriously thought there was going to be a riot!! There were a few not-so-nice guests.
Evening 5-7pm: Always fruits, veggies, cheese, crackers, hummus and pita bread. The 3 nights we were there had a different hot offering. Thursday was chicken quesadillas and spring rolls. Friday was wings and something else I can't remember right now. Saturday was meatballs and spinach pastries.
Dessert 7-10pm: We only made one of these but there was cake things, cookies, cherry tarts, and cream puffs.

I will say that we were really impressed with the level of service. All cast members were very nice and helped us with whatever we needed. We were very impressed with how they handled difficult cast members........they used sarcasm and jokes. For instance, one lady was standing there impatiently waiting for the cream puffs to be restocked. She said, "I have been waiting for these!" The cast member responded with, "I was in the kitchen working all day just for you!" We thought it was funny anyway! :)

I am so excited, just booked a DVC studio at the Poly for Princess weekend in Feb! I've always wanted to stay there and my friend who is running with me who has never stayed on property before picked the Poly as it's her dream resort to stay at. I've only read a handful of pages so far, but it's been very informative. Thanks everyone for so much great info!

Yes, ditto Disneymomma76! Thank you so much for taking the time to post your pictures and your review! So glad you had a wonderful trip!!!

Thanks so much for sharing your pictures!! Seeing them has restored my memories of what the Polynesian CL is. :)

Thank you so much for your review and pictures! I've been so, incredibly worried about the noise, the food offerings and the condition of the rooms. I'm so glad you had a great time!! Did your room seem to be well maintained and in pretty good condition? Again, thank you so much for your descriptions and review!

Thanks so much for taking the time to post pics and give a review of your stay. There have been some not-so-good reviews of Poly CL lately, so it's nice to read a positive one. Glad you had a good time and enjoyed the resort and CL :goodvibes.

I am so excited, just booked a DVC studio at the Poly for Princess weekend in Feb! I think your friend picked a great resort ;).

Our room was in very good condition and clean. I'm really picky when it comes to hotels and always check in drawers, behind furniture, toilets, showers, etc. Everything looked great. The only thing we noticed was some peeling wallpaper by the toilet. A little wallpaper paste and it would be as good as new.

I will have to say that I was disappointed with the quality of furniture used in the bungalows. We toured one while we were there (we really just wanted to see it in person!) and it seemed everything was laminate and was already showing some small scratches. It baffles me that they put in updated technology (TV in the mirror and touchpad light controls) but skimp on the furniture. Maybe they know they will have to replace it anyway?!?

We're going to be staying at the Poly in October with theme park view rooms. The online check in date is approaching and I'm trying to confirm which longhouse I should be requesting. I've seen confusing info on which ones have TPVs and was wondering if anyone could confirm which ones are actual options to choose from?

I looked at Touring Plans for Queen Beds, TPV
It shows
21 rooms in Tuvalu
8 room in Aotearoa

Just spoke with IPO as I was having an issue with my on-line check in. The CM told me that beginning next week the first floor level GV CL rooms would be taken out of service. Guests will only be allowed to stay on the 2nd and 3rd floor.
Is there any more information regarding the possible closure of first floor garden view rooms in the Hawaii building (GVCL)?
