Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

I'm sure this has been asked before but I am going to be staying in a Polynesian villa studio this December for 6 nights. I did not rent any DVC points, but instead just booked direct with Disney based on the new discounts that came out yesterday. I know that if you rent DVC points mousekeeping is only every 4th day, but does the same apply if you are just booking direct with Disney? Any guidance (or pointing to another thread if there is one) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you, bethclayton

You have GV CL booked for next month? I'm sorry, but Garden side of Hawaii is going to be unappealing for many months. They just began work on the 13th. They were removing pool furniture and ripping out plants when I was there this week. Perhaps Disney will upgrade you to LV or TPV? It's not so much the view but walking around with noise and workmen and vehicles.

I was in Fiji and it was very peaceful and things look so great over that way... I'm sorry for your dilemma :sad1:

It's my understanding a cash reservation directly with Disney gives you daily Mousekeeping. The DVC room becomes basically a regular Resort room.

I am soooooo confused we are arriving on Aug 17th. Last week we had our longhouse all planned out . I decided on Rarotonga because it's close to everything and my mom has her own room with only her on the reservation. We figured they would place her in a king bedroom (possibly). Rarotonga made sense so we can have rooms close together. I just don't want to be disappointed with the construction. Now I don't know what to do. I want to be close to the pool and GCH. Any thoughts...... Should I stick to Rarotonga?

After mulling over it non stop, I've decided to stink to Rarotonga, just requesting south facing view to stay away from construction. I hope I don't regret it! I arrive two days before you do! Crossing my fingers!

You could request a room in Raratonga facing away from construction?

^^yes, and Rarotonga is an excellent location: Next door to GCH (monorail, lobby, Capt. Cook's, Trader Sam's) and very close to bus stop; also close to Lava Pool. Just wait and look at the resort map with the CM who checks you in and ask them to explain exactly where you are. They will be handing you the map and circling your room to help you with directions. If you're nice to them they are bound to help you as much as they can. Just let them know you're concerned about the view and want to be sure you're happy with the room. Look for the monorail beam on the map below (white dashes near the bottom of the map). That is the side you'd want to be on to avoid the pool work. I'd ask for ground floor b/c there's a berm in front that blocks the parking lot views :cutie:

Keep in mind that you may not even be put in Rarotonga, but since it is a large building and not one of the most popular (like Samoa), my guess is you will be. Again, don't be afraid to ask the CM to look into availability of other rooms. Take a look at the new resort map to try and get familiar with the resort. And try not to worry!
Re. Samoa, it's crazy popular b/c it has some great pool and lagoon views, but trust me, anyone there last week was probably miserable over their location.

This is the view from the pathway that runs between Rarotonga and GCH, to the parking lot.

This is where you would enter from the GCH :teeth:

To up my chances of having monorail view at Rarotonga, I just asked to not be placed on the 2nd floor. Part of me prefers 1st floor, but I'll take either 1st or 3rd to be away from construction!

I did online check in. It says you may select up to two. I had 3 and sent it off.

Balcony, third floor, Fiji.

I went back to change it to only two but it won't let me change anything.

Will this mess with my requests? Will they all show?

I am hoping (requested via Touring Plans fax) for a King bed, in either Fiji or Rarotonga. In an ideal world I'd also get ground floor. Hopefully away from construction in Rarotonga but really, if I did face the construction I'm not sweating it too much. That building is at least a bit further away (so to speak) and it's not like they are working at night. I'm not expecting a stellar view with a standard room, even without construction. What I want even more than anything else is early check in. If I can get that I'll take just about anything :)

I think we put less stock in the view than others too. When I want a good view, I book it, like TPV at CR or Arusha Savanna at AKL. I wanted good views so I booked those rooms. When I book standard I'm expecting a parking lot. Construction won't be worse. At least to us.

Does anyone know if there are king beds in Aoeteora or Fiji ? I have requested Aoeteora 1st and Figi as 2nd choice. Thanks

same sort of thing happened to me.
I checked off Patio, Niue and then went back to change it to Fiji but when I went to remove Niue after checking Fiji, it wouldn't let me un-click Niue! I just left it-
At check-in I had been put in Fiji but no patio. As it turned out, I was very lucky to get 3d floor.
I don't think it messes anything up but you could always call. I didn't want to bother with that personally.
Good luck.
