johnsonet, you always have the best pics! thank you!

I agree :thumbsup2.

I was in Fiji and it was very peaceful and things look so great over that way

I'm glad you had a great room/view :wizard:.

Ugh! Had plans made far in advance. Can you believe, of my 11 days, I have 5 RD mornings at MK...and guess which days 4 out of 5 end up on? Yup! The days the monorail leaves at 830. Ugh!

EDIT: But hey! I'm not gonna sweat it! I'm at Disney! And will have a fabulous time regardless of that silly ol' monorail! party:Lol

That's the attitude to have ::yes::. Have a great trip!!!

Good morning fellow Poly lovers! Thanks to everyone who has posted pics & reviews, as they are adding to our excitement about our upcoming trip!! I do have a question for those of you who have purchased bottles of wine to drink in the room (not from room service but like from Garden Grocer or the gift shop etc) Are corkscrews available from housekeeping or do you just bring one from home?
I just buy wine with screw top when traveling! So many good wines now have screw tops and it's so much easier.

Johnsonet great pics! I requested Fiji marina view, but won't be disappointed with other side either. Beautiful view overlooking GF & beach.
Thanks for monorail link. Hopefully it will be back on regular hours by August or this will be 2 yrs for us staying at a monorail resort without full service

Thanks, Sue M!
I do hope you will not have monorail interruptions. 2 years in a row would be pretty bad!

The wine we purchased at a different Disney resort gift shop was all screw top.

Have read through all of this and have learned a lot!!!! My DD and I are planning a trip for next Sept. and have decided that the Poly is where we really want to stay...It will be a Mother-Daughter trip. I have a few questions but will start with only one or two at the moment! Lolol. Are there any New York State wines at the gift shop? What is the range of cost for a bottle?

I can tell you we have tried to acquire a corkscrew on past trips (at AKL and WL). It was very difficult to even find one to buy in the gift shop (where they sell the wine)
I pack one now

Interesting. I'm surprised they don't sell them. Thanks for the heads up. Guess I will just toss one in my suitcase.

I hadn't even thought about a screw top bottle. That's a good idea too.

Hopefully I will be sitting on my balcony, in the requested building of Fiji, enjoying a nice glass of wine next month!

Hi everyone :wave2:

Can anyone who is there now or has been there since they've fenced off the east pool please answer this question for me??

Is there a clear (no steps or obstructions) path from the GCH to the Hawaii building that I'd be able to use while in an ECV (electric scooter)??

Just wondering, because in the past there was a set of 3 or 4 steps between the Hawaii building and the old volcano pool, so I'd just go around the east side of Samoa to get to the GCH, bus stop, and the path to TTC. I think I read that now there are no more steps between Hawaii and the lava pool??

Thanks in advance!! :flower:

Me too!!

Not long. I would say no more than 5 minutes. Even walking over to the Ticket & Transportation Center, to catch the monorail to Epcot, only took me about 10 minutes. I left the Great Ceremonial House at 9:21am and was at the Epcot monorail platform at 9:32, and that includes stopping to take a few photos on the (lovely) walk over.

johnsonet, so it seems that staying in Fiji or even Aoeteora (sp?) doesn't add that much travel time to transportation. How was the sound level? With marina boats or the luau show? Thanks!

SeaSpray - I believe that the answer to your question is Yes. There is a clear path. However, I do not know for certain. But there are new paths and last week I walked from the beach to the GCH, alongside the Lava pool. I also looked to my left when passing Hawaii to look at the large sheet that was covering Samoa's side (stairwell?) and to take a picture of the covered fence around East Pool. People were coming and going and I feel certain that a nice wide path (they've been widened to ADA standards, as has parking lot, a CM told me when I was upgrading some tickets and raving about how wonderful the resort looks ) will lead you directly b/w Hawaii and GCH. I'm not positive b/c I was not looking specifically for that - hopefully someone there now/soon can help :flower3:

Here are some pics of the new path from GCH

That's right. I was surprised, as I'd thought that side of the resort might be inconvenient but it was not - AT ALL. We did not find it loud. The only effect the Luau had on us was one night when we left our room when the luau was letting out (around 10:30pm) and we were headed to MK via monorail (had taken the boat the night before and it was not the speediest situation that night). Anyway, there were tons of people and then a big line at the monorail but no biggie. Just weren't expecting it... LOVE that area and I do not think you'd mind any noises you might hear. The marina is not a busy place.

There are no longer the steps outside Hawaii longhouse. When they redesigned the paths they removed any steps and widened the paths. It was part of the ADA compliant.

Thank you so much for the pictures!!! It really helps to be able to envision the "new" backyard of the Polynesian. :D

These are the steps that I think I read have been replaced with a level a path to the entrance of the Hawaii building:
