I saw that too. If there's a way to get to the Boardwalk by boat I'd like to know. I don't think there is though. Our plan was monorail to MK then bus to BW or maybe just take a cab or do Uber.
n/m. Already answered.

We're not going till next year but I am curious how long it takes to get around the hotel. What is the farthest away one can be from the GCH? (minutes walking) We had dinner at Ohana one time but we didn't walk around the resort. Thanks

Be honest- am I over thinking this? ha ha (I usually am!)
We have a standard room booked for mid-August. From day one, I wanted proximity to transportation/TTC. So I always thought Rarotonga or Samoa were the way to go.

I am right there with you. We check in 8/24 and now with the monorail and cherry pickers I am a little worried to even stay here. This trip we are spending a lot of time at the resort so I want to enjoy it and be able to rest during the day( I will be almost 6 months pregnant) I have no idea what longhouse to request. I really wanted Samoa main pool facing, but not sure we will get that request. We are checking in by 9am though so I am fine waiting. Other option is to move to YC.

Right now I guess I am going to keep waiting it out and keep reading everyone's updates. I love the Poly so much so I don't want to leave it. I wish you good luck and I hope it all works out for you too :)

I'm home from Florida and just wanted to say the the Polynesian was a real treat. We cannot wait to return and I was so impressed by the look and feel of the resort. Once all the major work is completed, I think it will be the greatest resort on property.
It was a magical vacation :wizard:

Glad you had a magical trip :goodvibes. Thanks for taking the time to post while you were there.

I think it's time for you to start planning that next trip ;).

9 more days for us!!:banana::banana:

The time will go fast :yay:.

Hi everyone! I've finally made it through the thread :) We have a 5 night stay scheduled for Labor Day week, and we are beyond excited as Poly has always been our dream resort.

The Poly is amazing, you are going to love it! Have a great trip :wizard:.

I watched once from my balcony as some girls leaving the pool held the door for two men who had bags and were fully dressed, LOL. There's no way to stop pool hoppers unless they have CMs at the entrances, as at BC.

I agree, they need to have CMs at the entrance checking bands ::yes::.

The Poly isn't that spread, IMO, so it doesn't long to get around. I agree with johnsonet (from an earlier post) that it takes maybe 5 minutes to get to the GCH from anywhere on the grounds :).

Check out Tikimans website. I believe he has posted times for how long walk is to GCH.

Checked into CL this morning. Moved over from Old Key West. We've been at WDW for 12 days and plan on ending our trip relaxing and enjoying the Poly.

Sitting in the CL lounge as I type enjoying a few appetizers before we hit the pool. I was surprised that there are only 5 other tables of people here with us. Plenty of snacks to go around.

When we checked in we had to walk through Samoa to get to Hawaii but now the walkway in front of Samoa is open!

This is our first stay at the Poly. We come to WDW at least once a year and have APs. First impressions are pretty good since I was prepared for the construction. We also are DVC members and were able to tour a bungalow and studio. Crazy prices on those bungalows. Holy cow!

Thanks for posting while you're enjoying the Poly! We're booked for a studio in a few weeks. How is the construction from the area with respect to noise level? We've requested Moorea GV.

 Haven't been getting any of my usual alerts for this thread. Not sure why. :confused3

Had to read through quite a bit of recent thread activity, so I'm not sure who posted this, but there's a pic posted back a little ways of the monorail boarding area. It had a Monorail Hours [7am-1am] sign. Is that sign changed daily as monorail hours change? Or is the monorail back to original running hours?

I've read so many posts/articles about the adjusted hours that I'm not sure which is most accurate/current. Is there a July end or summer end? Sun-Wed adjusted hours or every day of the week? Extra busses and/or extra watercraft runs?

Someone mentioned that they were given a monorail schedule upon check-in. If at all possible, could someone who's currently at the Poly please take a pic of this schedule for those of us having transportation anxiety? Those early morning ADRs are pretty important.

Many thanks! :goodvibes

johnsonet, you always have the best pics! thank you!

sounds like a great vacay so far! glad you're enjoying it! i arrive in about a month and have some concerns, as people in recent weeks have shared some experiences about limited CL breakfast selections (carbs only) and limited evening appetizers (it all looked like it came from costco and there was a lot on repeat). is this still the case this week? i keep hoping against hope that maybe the poly is just on the cusp of a fantastic change... one can dream, right?! :crazy:also, i'm not sure what room category you have, but do you happen to know how rough the view and noise are on the garden view side of hawaii?

the poly really is an amazing resort as a whole and when i visited for a few hours in april i liked some of the changes (even though change is always hard!). just feeling a bit uneasy about CL!

Thank you, bethclayton

You have GV CL booked for next month? I'm sorry, but Garden side of Hawaii is going to be unappealing for many months. They just began work on the 13th. They were removing pool furniture and ripping out plants when I was there this week. Perhaps Disney will upgrade you to LV or TPV? It's not so much the view but walking around with noise and workmen and vehicles.

I was in Fiji and it was very peaceful and things look so great over that way... I'm sorry for your dilemma :sad1:

Is is the one I saw last week.. Other than Sunday night when the monorail was suppose to be running but not, it was pretty much right on.

Ugh! Had plans made far in advance. Can you believe, of my 11 days, I have 5 RD mornings at MK...and guess which days 4 out of 5 end up on? Yup! The days the monorail leaves at 830. Ugh!

EDIT: But hey! I'm not gonna sweat it! I'm at Disney! And will have a fabulous time regardless of that silly ol' monorail! party:Lol

johnsonet - I love your pics! Thanks for posting them. I've been reluctant to return to the Poly with all the changes. The lobby actually looks nice to me, but the string of bungalows blocking the lovely views from the beach and the Hawaii building will take time to get use to. Glad you found Fiji to be nice - the views look lovely from there. :)

Same thing for my trip. I'm at the Poly Monday-Thursday & all of those days except one the monorail isn't running early enough. Oh well. Hopefully the boat is running for pre park opening ADRs. :)

Is this the monorail to MK or TTC? How is Epcot monorail? Are they providing alternate bus service before monorail starts running?
When we stayed at GF last Aug monorail didn't start until 9:00 so we had early morning bus service.

Is this for MDE app or the web site?

I know we have already covered this, but I did want to give a link to info that seems to be correct, based on what I experienced last week. Hopefully the schedule only runs through July and will not effect you :thumbsup2

Not long. I would say no more than 5 minutes. Even walking over to the Ticket & Transportation Center, to catch the monorail to Epcot, only took me about 10 minutes. I left the Great Ceremonial House at 9:21am and was at the Epcot monorail platform at 9:32, and that includes stopping to take a few photos on the (lovely) walk over.

Hey mmmears :cutie: Long time, no see:p Thanks, and I agree about the change in views from the beach. The bungalows are my least favorite addition to the resort. But being over in Fiji made them mostly a non-issue.
Hope you'll return to the Polynesian before long. It really is fabulous :flower1:

Good morning fellow Poly lovers! Thanks to everyone who has posted pics & reviews, as they are adding to our excitement about our upcoming trip!! I do have a question for those of you who have purchased bottles of wine to drink in the room (not from room service but like from Garden Grocer or the gift shop etc) Are corkscrews available from housekeeping or do you just bring one from home?

I can tell you we have tried to acquire a corkscrew on past trips (at AKL and WL). It was very difficult to even find one to buy in the gift shop (where they sell the wine)
I pack one now
