Just came back from 10 days at the Poly. Loved it. We were there from June 12 through June 21. I saw lit tiki torches when I was there. My daughters (13 and 7) loved the pool. I don't have one negative comment. By the way, we were in a standard room at Aotearoa. Could see the monorail, the marina and the pool from our balcony on the 3rd floor.

ALWAYS GREAT hearing favorable feedback about your great stay!:thumbsup2 CAN'T WAIT!::yes::

I was just there visitng friends last week and there were lit Tiki torches - I read back trying to figure out the basis for this comment of no torches and could not find it. Perhaps it's because they no longer have the ceremonial lighting of them (that's been gone a couple of years at least) but there are still lit Tiki torches.

Does anyone have any info on how to get to a pre-park opening ADR from the Poly? MK opens at 9am that day, and I was told they start letting early ADRs into the park at 7:45am. I'm staying at the Poly. Is the bus my only option to get there that early? Do they even have buses to the MK? I think I read that the monorail starts running one hour prior to park opening and the ferry 30 minutes prior. Anyone have any experience with this? I've been trying to research this but some say there are buses, some say there aren't buses, some say the monorail, but the site says it doesn't run until an hour before opening. I'm a bit confused and just wondering if anyone has any experience. Thanks in advance! :)

Was there a post on this thread that said what was in the room (ie shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer?) Thanks!

see post #1472, above

Is the hot tub up and running yet ? Thinking about staying there a night in January.

yes. I've seen photos on Tikiman's FB page

check out Post #5 of this thread. And yes, there are hairdryers.

Does anyone know if the poolside cabanas are going open up? We are down on August 19th for the one night and I was hoping to book a cabana for that day. According to WDW Recreation they are not taking reservations at this time.

Thanks!
Jay
Just got back and asked a CM and he said as of now they are not coming back.

We also just returned from 10 days at the Poly from June 11 to the 20th. This was our 8th stay at the Poly (latest was April 2015 for me and DD9). The good...pool was great, food was great, room view spectacular! The bad...pool hoppers (no one does anything - gates don't work, meaning they are unlocked a lot of the time and there is no one checking bands)(yes I complained to a couple of CMs), wait time when ordering at CC (20 minutes one slow morning from payment to getting food), resort is getting busier and louder, even the people at the quiet pool didn't get the concept; the ugly....I'm going to dress in a black ninja outfit and grab a baseball bat to take out those flippin ferry boat horns! We are DVC and treated ourselves to a lake view. Those horns go off 24/7 if MK is open late because the transportation runs for at least an hour after park closes. So until at least 3 am and then they start back up at 5 am testing the flippin horns again! We moved once to our "only other option" and that didn't help much. The resort was packed and they didn't have anywhere else they could send us....busy, busy, busy. We were in Moorea 3035 and then 2023. I did not sleep well the entire trip and ended up getting bronchitis.

We will take a break from the Poly next year and we will never again do a DVC lake view. All in all we were at Disney and still left with smiles on our faces!

^Wow. This is not great news. I'm so sorry for your noise/sleep issues- and I hate to hear that the resort is so crowded and that the pool is not regulated, although that is certainly nothing new.
Glad you still enjoyed yourselves.

Yes , we were at the Poly last week also in DVC one morning we were walking out to the parking lot to get in the car to go to BB. I saw a couple coming off the TTC path I thought it was kind of odd the man was carrying a small duffel bag but on a closer look the lady had on a swimsuit and a sheer coverup over it. It seemed to me they may be pool hoppers either legally or not. The pool gate didn't work for us with our magic bands most of the time.

Just got back and asked one our favorite bartenders, Steve and he said as of now they are not coming back.
Thanks so much for the heads up. That's too bad. We are only their the one day (club level before we head over to the Beach Club) and were hoping to snag a cabana for the day, as we don't have park passes.

Thanks again for asking.
Jay

After hitting my head against a wall...er...making my adrs on Saturday, I have been looking at breakfast options that aid in getting to RD. There is only so many QS breakfasts I can eat during a 9 day stay, and TS isn't always an option because it takes too long. How is the Poly's room service at breakfast? I see it starts at 7, if I order ahead, does that mean I can have food close to 7? Or would it turn up a 8? Odds of it arriving warm?

It would probably only be a one day thing as tax, 3$ deliver fee and an 18% tip is cost prohibitive.
We order breakfast thru room service every trip. We have never waited longer than 30min. With that being said I have never preordered. I'm not sure if that's even an option. And it's always hot and delicious!

The bad...pool hoppers
This is not great news. When we are there next month the East pool will be closed and the main pool is so small already.
I'm going to dress in a black ninja outfit and grab a baseball bat to take out those flippin ferry boat horns!
HaHa, I felt bad booking a standard view but this is a last minute trip, if I don't sleep it's not good for anyone so I guess that worked out anyway.

Did anyone use the pulldown bed? I would really like to know if it's a childs bed or an adult size. I have asked Disney they say for an adult and what I have researched says adult but you get the random child sized report as well.

Glad you came back with smiles and hope your feeling better!

I'm glad to hear that the main pool is finished. We are planning our first trip to the Polynesian in November and have a a few questions if you or anyone who has been recently would be willing to answer as we decide which longhouse we would request for our standard view reservation. Was the quiet pool still open? I thought they were working on refurbishing it. Was there a lot of construction still and if so where. I think our main focus would be to avoid a construction view. Would we be ok staying to the west side , I don't think we would mind a little more walking.

Hello

I am staying at Poly for first time in December. We are in a standard room too. Would you suggest requesting Aotearoa and was it a far walk to the TTC. Thank you

Thanks for the report. Remember that the “Quiet Pool” is not the official name of the East pool so there are no rules about the level of noise at that pool. Also I think people need to be aware of the Ferry horns but I still think for some these are great rooms to stay in. I personally have been in these rooms in the past and never had a problem with the ferry horn. I was even in one towards the end closest to the TTC.

I just spoke to Steve and he said he doesn’t remember having a conversation about the cabanas.

At this point they are not sure if they are coming back or not. It is possible they are going to be done at a later date than originally scheduled. I believe they might be putting some in the design of the new Oasis pool.

I’m glad you enjoyed the new pool area.

What was your room number? We are going to September and I am thinking about requesting Aotearoa so my kids can sit and watch the monorail.

Thanks
