I wouldn't count on CL having picnic foods on the 4th although it appears the previous poster has been there the past two years so maybe it's a new tradition. They did not when I stayed there. Also we did mickeys bbq last year on the 4th and it was an awesome experience. All of the characters were dressed up for the 4th

Wow! That gives me something to think about - maybe we will change Mickey's Backyard BBQ to July 3 instead - I didn't know that the Poly CL had special foods for the 4th (although I should've assumed it!) - I kinda don't want to miss that! July 3rd is available to switch our BBQ night so maybe we will do that - we were planning to be back for desserts but I really don't want to miss those yummy dinner foods! I'll have to convince DH when he gets up! Thanks so much for that info! We've stayed CL there twice but not over the 4th. :-)

I posted this on the CL thread, but just thought I'd follow up on this thread for people wondering:).
Here are some pics from Poly CL July 4, 2014:

Just fun food, nothing major.

Pool and beach starting to fill up. I think a lot were non-guests....it will be interesting watching what happens this year
with the new fence.

Great photos! Do you remember around what time you took the picture at the pool looking at the beach? We are staying at the Poly over the 4th and wondering what time we should make our way to the beach. TIA!

Actually, I have the exact time of that picture!! I emailed that particular picture to Tikiman at 4:31 p.m. July 4, 2014.

Was the construction loud enough that it woke you up every morning? My husband and I like to sleep in some days and I'm considering switching our hotel if the construction is going to be loud enough to wake us every day. We are going in October so I don't know what they will be working on.
No, and they never started it before 9:00am. I was told this bit of construction was only going to go on for a week. I'm sure this little piece will be done quickly but the East/quiet pool construction could be an issue for you then, depending on how late you like to sleep. As a general rule, I think they try or mean to not start the noise until about 9am.

Hello all! We have a reservation for BoG in MK at 8:40am one morning (when MK opens at 9am), and we are indeed staying at the Poly. Having never stayed at the Poly before, what is the best way to get to the MK early? Usually, we'd just hope an early bus. Is it the same here?
No need for a bus, just hop on the resort monorail. 3rd stop will be Magic Kingdom.

Thank you so much for sharing these pictures! Can't wait to head to Poly CL in 10 days!!! (my ticker hasn't been updating for some reason)

If you booked one of the days that just opened up, you can probably get a time closer to 8 (if you want it) by searching for 8:00 a.m., rather than just searching "breakfast."

Thanks! I didn't know when the monorails actually started running in the morning.

We booked for a time already open, so the earliest ones were already taken, may try to check closer to time for openings.

Hi all! We are thinking of shipping an Amazon Pantry box for our Poly CL stay. Has anyone had experience doing this? What is the address that we should ship to? How long ahead should we order it? How do we make sure that we get it? Thank you!

Thank you, we have used this service many times, however the airline we are flying this time (Spirit) does not participate in the resort check in program. That's why I was looking for an alternative to having to check in at MCO. The lines for security are bad enough! :faint:
MCO security lines are the worst! I usually get trusted traveler on my boarding pass but my daughter doesn't for some reason, so I end up just waiting with her anyway on the loooong line, because even if I went on short line id still end up waiting for her!! She's 29.

How easy is it to get a walk in table for Kona at breakfast? It's not a deal breaker if we can't. We are going mid July.
I think pretty easy. But since I can get Tonga Toast at Capt cooks, I'm going to do that!!!

I finally bought the five year TSA precheck plan and it was worth every penny of the $80.00. I fly pretty frequently and to not have to go through the long wait followed by the hassle of unpacking electronics and liquids and taking off shoes and outer layers is fantastic. The MCO lines are a nightmare.

Being Canadian we can apply for a Nexus pass which gives us a special lane to drive across the border and also good for security lines at airports. We've been thinking about applying.
I always get the Precheck clearance anyway on bording pass but doesn't help as daughter doesn't. Ugh.

I was a little hesitant about having to spend the dollars for this, but now I can't imagine going back to the old way and all the hassles and time involved.

Last time I flew home from MCO there were two long lines and one short. I asked if I could use any and they said yes. The short line attendant was telling people to keep on their shoes (I got scolded for automatically starting to take mine off), belts and light jackets. Other lines were doing the no shoe thing. It was like I entered the shorter line and went back in time lol, no line was scanning people only using metal detector and while liquid restrictions were in effect, every line was saying they could stay in your suitcase. It was bizarrely nice. I didn't pay to be trusted
Or anything.

Great pic!!
Am I correct in guessing from the Hawaii building?

Keep an eye on what happens with the monorail schedule. Currently there is a schedule through July and it includes some limited morning hours, depending on the day of the week. Don't assume you can take the monorail to arrive at the back of the park for for your 8:40am reservation. Hopefully you can, but make sure you keep up with the schedule.

I did this once, years ago, to Polynesian. Everything went fine.
According to Disney site:

"If you intend to receive mail during your vacation, be sure the receiving letter or package:

  • Includes the mailing address of the Disney Resort Hotel
  • Clearly features the word “Guest” on the front and the date of the recipient’s arrival at the hotel"
Poly address is
1600 Seven Seas Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830.

Thank you! I'm assuming if the monorail is not running until 8:30, that the bus would be the way to go from Poly to MK the morning of our early breakfast?
