We just returned from an amazing wonderful stay at the Poly! We were there from 6/8-6/15. We stayed in the Hawaii building GV. We were lucky enough to to get one of the few GV rooms that face the lagoon. We had an amazing view of Cinderella castle! We could watch Wishes from our room every nite. We were on the 2nd floor but did not miss having a balcony at all.
The CL staff were so friendly and helpful always. We dined at Kona Cafe a few times for lunch and dinner and had amazing service and food. Higgins the manager was so friendly and welcoming.
We almost switched to GF due to worries about construction. I am so glad we didn't. We had absolutely no issues with construction at all. It was very minimal and did not hinder our vacation at all!
We will be back again! Thank you Poly for a wonderful stay!

Thanks for sharing your experience...it's nice to read a positive review and what a great room view!! Hoping we get that lucky when we arrive in August :).

We are going for our 10 year anniversary this August. (We are very lucky to visit WDW several times a year but wanted to make this trip extra special)

Our 2 night Poly stay comes at the end of 5 nights at CSR and 7 nights at BC with our daughter. My parents are surprising DD8 with a few nights at Legoland at the end of the trip, so we figured this would be a great opportunity to plan a weekend trip for us without adding extra airfare.

Anyway, we do not plan to leave the resort for the 2 days. My head is spinning with longhouse/room/floor choices. If you were to request a quiet, romantic room with a peaceful view...what would it be? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!!

Sounds like a really fun plan pixiedust:
What room category have you booked?

It's hard to say what will be nice and quiet in August. I was going to suggest 3d floor, Fiji or Aotearoa if you have Standard View booked - to keep you away from the (supposed) renovation of the quiet pool, over by Niue, Samoa and rarotonga.
But the luau show might create noise in the evenings that could bother you. Maybe you would find it festive, though?
Also, I think it would be nice to be able to stroll over to the GF for dinner or a drink.
I think the whole resort is gorgeous and lush. But the digging up of a pool will not be peaceful.
I have standard view booked next month, and will be able to give you much better advice then:thumbsup2

Where is the laundry located? Not that I really want to go there but I probably will have to...

If I can sip on an Uh-Oa while doing it...

Has anyone posted yet how to override the new thermostats in the DVC studios? Or has anyone that has been there recently had any issues? Read a few reports in May stating the studios temp will not adjust below 68 & that even at that, the room never gets below 70. Heading down next week & need to be able to have a cool room!

Funny, I had no idea which category. I had to check- we are booked in a standard. I was so excited that our TA had the Labor Day special rate at the Poly, I didn't ask.

Can you refill your mugs at the pool side bar?

I'm debating on getting them. We are a family of 4 staying 10 nights. It's a split stay. I drink only water. The kids like lemonade and an occasional soda. My BF likes lemonade too.

We will do midday breaks at the pool everyday and a few meals at the resort.

I'm thinking of getting 2-3 since I really only do water.

Can anyone tell me if they have life vests for children by the pool? Stayed at CR last year and they had them there so I'm hoping they'll have the same at Poly and I won't have to pack floaties!

Also wanted to check in regarding the kids splash area. Last I read it seemed the height limit was only for the one slide, not for the entire area. Has anyone had experience with this recently? Are they allowing taller kids to play in the area as long as they don't go on the one slide intended for smaller kids? I really hope so as I know my DS7 would really enjoy this area.

That's an awesome view - thanks for posting! I was wondering, since you've just returned, can you tell me if Poly had the texting service going for the 4th FP? Last I knew, Poly wasn't doing this yet, but someone over on the CL thread said all CL's are indeed doing it now (not sure if he had just returned from several different CL's or if he was just speculating). So I'm just trying to ask whoever I notice has recently returned. Thanks!

Just saw the updated pictures on Tikiman's FB page - love all of the new foliage going in outside of Hawaii and I LOVE the fact that all of the fences are down! Our trip on June 30th - July 7th seems to be perfectly timed!!!! 19 days to go until paradise!
Not all of the fences are down. I'll have photos and videos when I return but photobucket is not cooperating right now.

I'm sure this is posted somewhere but I'm being lazy ...... :duck:

What time does the main Lava pool open?

THANKS!

We have a reservation one night at Trial's End. There is no boat that runs from the Poly to FW, correct? Would the best way to get there be to take the monorail to the MK and then boat to FW?

I wanted to say hello to all of the folks on here! My family and I are devout Beach Club fans and have been staying at the BC each August for the last 10 years. This year, because the flights were much cheaper the day before our Bounceback offer kicked in we decided to book a single night a day earlier, without passes or the dining plan. I have always wanted to try the Poly and I thought it was a perfect opportunity to give it a shot for just one night, so I booked a Club Level room for our first night (8/19) and got a great rate thanks to the travel agency that shall remain nameless on the DIS. Figure if we are going to do it we might as well go Club Level and enjoy as much as we can. Also, since we won't have the dining plan it will help us cut costs for some food and drinks.

As this is our first time there does anyone have any advice or suggestions around the room (request) things to do, things to avoid etc? Any suggestions are totally welcome! Who knows, maybe my family falls in love with the Poly and we see if we can switch our entire reservation over :)

Thanks in advance for any advice!!!

Jay
:wave2: Nice to see you here! We are arriving 8/22, but will maybe see you along with BC group later on?
We have a Poly resort day planned on 8/23. I love wandering around the paths, lots of photo ops, and it's a nice walk over to GF to check out shops. My plans are to take monorail over to MK and hop on Ft W boat for a late Trails End breakfast, then return to Poly for some pool time, go to Trader Sam's in afternoon, at some point enjoy a Dole Float ( may have a little additive from my room :-) ) dinner at Cooks or maybe sushi upstairs depending on what we're feeling, or hopping on monorail and grabbing something from GF or CR, the possibilities are endless, then watching Electric Water Parade & Wishes from beach.
