We are staying at the Poly for the very first time in 70 short days!!! We are DVC members so super excited about this stay. We are staying standard view, so I am hoping to get a view other than a parking lot or a construction pit. But hey, if that's the view we get, it's not like we are in the room for long periods of time anyway.

4 days to go!:dogdance::dogdance: Question about the pool area....I am on immunosuppressants and like to try and sit in the shade...I know there are limited umbrellas...can you bring one of the ones that can clamp onto a chair into the pool area??

I was wondering the same thing. My husband sitting in the sun. Hope we get an answer.

I will be requesting 3rd floor of Samoa overlooking the Lava pool through touring plans.com I am not that concerned if we get a less than desirable view or location but am keeping my fingers crossed

Also need to come up with a way to safely pack the Nautilus I intend to get at Trader Sam's

That's exactly what I did 2 weeks ago. We got the end room nearest Hawaii on the 3rd floor. It was a lovely view.

Yeah. You get a new one in the box. I'm trying to figure out how to best pack that box in our luggage or if I should squeeze it into my carry on. Or ship it
If you have any bubble wrap lying around the house, I would bring it. It won't take up much room and you could wrap the nautilus in it.

I also want a souvenir glass but haven't chosen which one yet. There are some in Boutiki, I think, that I also have my eye on.

Have a fantastic time!! :dance3:

We just returned from staying club level - the offerings are still what most people have been reporting. Breakfast is cold cereals and oatmeal (with toppings), yogurt (vanilla and strawberry) with toppings, bagels, croissants, muffins, cinnamon rolls, fruit. I think that was it. We were never there for the afternoon snacks, but from past trips I remember things like goldfish, gummy bears, choc chip cookies. Evening apps were always: carrots, celery and cucumbers with dip, mini pita pockets and hummus, pineapple with caramel sauce, three different types of cheeses and crackers (there was always different fruits on the cheese trays as well). Each night there were two hot appetizers - items included pierogies with Korean bbq sauce, conch fritters, chicken legs with a teriyaki sauce, crab rangoons, sushi, beef and blue wrapped in bacon. I do remember them having an additional cold salad each night in the past that wasn't there this year. Otherwise, it was pretty much the same as it's been for us in the past.

FYI - they do have some things "in the back" that you have to ask for. My kids were able to get chocolate milk, apple juice and uncrustable pb&j (some nights these were out, other nights they needed to request them). The staff was extremely nice and accomodating, so I wouldn't hesitate to ask for something if you don't see it out.

Let me know if you have any specific questions - I'm not sure I covered everything!

Thank you, helpful info! Do you remember what kind of yogurt it was that was out in the mornings? Yoplait, Dannon, or a greek yogurt of some kind? Also, was there coffee out all day? Thanks again! :goodvibes

I wish shipping was a choice for me, but UPS charges ridiculous customs brokerage fees for shipping across the border.

I was wondering... Can you watch wishes from inside the pool or hot tub!!? What time does the pool and pool bar close!? We are there the first week of October!!

The yogurt was actually in bowls, not individual containers, so I don't know what brand it was. The strawberry was really good though and tasted very similar to Dannon light & fit which is what I eat at home. Definitely not greek yogurt! We're not coffee drinkers, but I'm almost positive that the machine was available all day. My middle son gets hot chocolate out of it (yes, in the 90+ degree August heat :confused3) and he had it at different times of the day.

Just returned from the POLY. All gated up. They even have a lifeguard at the gate turning people (not registered) away. Missing umbrellas - too much sun and it was extremely crowded!!!!!!!!
I hope they keep this up! Definitely needed since it was even crowded with staff checking guests at gate.

I read on some other threads of people ordering cases of water from staples and having them shipped to the resort they r staying at. I was wondering if anyone has tried that at the poly. I just want water so ordering from the garden grocery seems silly with the minimum and the $14 delivery fee.

Will be at the Poly next week for the first time :banana:so I'm happy to hear that pool hoppers are getting the boot. A crowded pool doesn't bother me, but lack of shade might. This seems to be a common complaint amongst DISers. Why would they not have more umbrellas? Does it have anything to do with the size of the deck? Are the tables with umbrellas larger than the tables without umbrellas ie more umbrellas=less tables? There has to be a reason because it doesn't make sense to have this many complaints from guests. :confused3

The deck area only seats xxx number and the management has clearly chosen to squeeze in as many loungers as possible. Then there is that little rehab of the area whereby all of the lovely foliage and trees (which provided shade) were removed along with the scant few poolside tables that did exist previously. I sure hope when the east pool is complete, the Tiki Huts and mature foliage return with it. :confused3

You can buy cases of water at the resort as well. That's what we've done before when we just needed a few items.

I'm starting to get so anxious now that after all this time we finally will be staying at the Polynesian Village!!! November will be here before ya know it! This has been on the to-do list for as far back as I can remember but it just didn't happen.

What can we expect construction/renovation wise come the 2nd week of November? We will be staying in a standard view deluxe studio. I do not really care about the view location, as long as it is not a view of construction, obviously. Not sure exactly what to request come the time. Most views I know are very nice, even the parking lots decent if that the best we could get that is not a construction zone. We arrive the day before check-in, so we will probably stop by to put in our location request in-person.

Wow! This is the first I've heard that the lifeguards are actually checking guests. Most people say they do not check and the gates can often be left open.

Like Cluelyss posted, yes you can watch wishes from the pool. That's one of the many things I love about the Poly :goodvibes.

Glad to hear they are checking at the gate. Hope you had a great time :).

I agree :thumbsup2.

I can't answer about the studios and views, but wanted to say I hope you have a great time at the Poly :wizard:.

Does that include the use of the steam room? I think they have one there and....how long of a walk is it from Poly to GF? Thanks

I also think the GF has a steam room, but I'm not sure if it's included in the gym for Poly guests. Hopefully someone else will be able to give a definite answer :flower3:.

The walk between the Poly and GF is maybe 10-15 minutes, depending on your pace :).
