I'm planning my honeymoon for June 4th-10th 2013. I will be 25 yrs old. I'm having trouble deciding between POFQ or a perferred room at a value resort. I really need some help on this one. What are the views of the "king" rooms at POFQ? How long of a walk is it from the main lobby to your room? AS value resorts go from past trips, I know it can take to 15-20min. to get to your room from the lobby. How much closer are the "preferred rooms" at the value resorts? Is it worth an extra $1000+ to have a "view" if we are going to be doing tours and park hopping?

PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!!!

We stayed at POFQ on our last trip and LOVED it. We are going back there in March (can't wait)! The resort is small by Disney standards and all rooms are a short walk to the lobby and bus stop. You can also call ahead I think 10 days before your stay and request the building closest to the lobby/bus stop. The travel time from POFQ to all the parks is pretty good (I don't recall anything over 15 minutes). It only has one bus stop so that usually means you get on the bus and go straight to the park. Occasionally we would make the rounds at the stops at Riverside, but that might have happened just twice in our 7 day stay. They also have a boat that takes you to Downtown Disney and I think on to Epcot (but that is just what I heard recently). We have only stayed at Cornado Springs and POFQ so I do not know how they compare to All Stars. I would NOT go back to Cornado (to big, to many bus stops and too crowded). We have not had enough desire to jump to a deluxe yet because we love POFQ so much and don't see the need to spend the extra $$$ on a deluxe. Hope this helps.

I don't think it's worth paying for a view at a value or moderate. The rooms open out to the walkways, so if you leave your window open, people are just going to stare inside as they walk by.

POFQ is very small for a Disney resort, you would be fine walking from any of their rooms. I would stay at POFQ over a value in a heartbeat, especially for a honeymoon!

We have stayed at POFQ several times and find it's hit and miss for quality. The food is usually awful with among the worst cast members I've ever dealt with. That being said the POFQ on it's worst day is better than any stay I've had at a Value just because of the crowd sizes and walking distances. The bus is usually manageable and seldom run into larger tour groups. Though last year we we unfortunate enough to spend the last half our stay with huge groups of British tourist who were on a whole among the rudest people I've ever met. For some reason they felt the need on our floor to take their drinking, room furniture, laundry, empties, children and other entertainments onto the walkways outside their room doors all day until well into the night. We would literally be tripping over them sprawled out on the ground. When I spoke with the desk staff I was ask what I wanted them to do about it. One reason we do like POFQ is it's always a short walk to all parts of the resort, and the riverboats to POR and DTD are an entertaining little boat trip. On thing we did find a little annoying was the outdoor movie each night between buildings 5 and 6 in the croquet court it's very loud but ends but 9ish most nights. In the past we have always had rooms in theses builds and it was fine.

To me, the view is not important at any moderate or value since you don't have a balcony to enjoy it!

What I think is worth it for that extra 1K is the atmosphere of the resort at a moderate vs. value. POFQ is very romantic. You can go over to Riverside and get a carriage ride that goes between both resorts. POFQ has a nice lounge with an excellent pianist/jazz singer. We love its food court and you have Riverside right there just a quick walk, boatride or drive away with all of its amenities including several pools and another nice lounge with live entertainment. The grounds at POFQ are very pretty and having the boat to DTD is a big plus.

We like the values, but for a honeymoon, I would definitely go with a moderate. You can always request a nice view or book a waterview room at POFQ but that will just add cost.

Also, I may be wrong, but at a moderate, a King room is a bookable category. At a value, I think its a request and more than likely handicap accessible. But I may be wrong on that one.

While I have not stayed at POFQ, I've stayed at WL, CBR and most recently All Star Movies. I appreciate Disney's ability to provide accommodations at all price points. And like so many of us on these forums, I knew exactly what I would and would not get at each place.
But I'm not going to stay at a Value again. It really lacks the magic of the other resorts. My family has decided we'd sacrifice number of days for a better room.

POFQ! The boat ride to DTD is great. The Scat Cat Lounge has Elliot Dyson five nights a week, a must see. And Shelly at the pool bar, best bar tender at WDW. Don't even think of the value's.

To me the only con of POFQ is lack of quiet pools. However, you can use any of the pools at POR since they are sister resorts. If you stay in bldg. 7 at POFQ, your walk over to the quiet pool at Parterre Place and Oak Manor at POR is about 5-7 minutes tops. Also the slide at the POFQ pool is very short which is great for younger kids but not too fun for my teenagers.

The pros of POFQ are:

small size
lovely grounds and I think the prettiest bldg exteriors of any WDW resort
boat to DTD
great food court
Scat Cats Lounge with Elliot Dyson and great pool bar too
Proximity to POR and its amenities
Recently redone rooms
Overal great theme
First (most of the time) on the bus route when it shares with POR

You'll be divorced if you take her to a value...Plus there's a romantic element to walking the path along the river between FQ and riverside...the boat's nice too

:lmao: My husband is safe as long as he takes me to Disney. I'd probably even be ok in a tent...as long as it's at Ft. Wilderness.

Congratulations!
We just came back from our Disneymoon at POFQ. Never stayed in a Mod before, maybe we'll never get again:scared1:but it was fantastic. Don't get me wrong , we love the values but how many times in your life will you got to WDW on your Disneymoon (OK, I'm 2 for 2, bad example:rotfl2:) so splurge and go to POFQ.
We were in building 3 and it was less than 5 mins to the food court and bus stop. The trouble now is it spoiled us-we're pricing up for October 2013 (Our 2nd wedding anniversary:love:) and we keep trying to make arguments for POFQ;)
Wherever you decide I hope its the most magical, amazing Disney holiday you ever take. And I hope your husband isn't sick for a whole day like mine was....
