Has anyone from Ontario been on vacation at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort? is March a good time to visit? How was the drive? How many days (min.) does it takes to enjoy all the good stuff Disney offers there? I read their activities sheet and it seems fun! Nature walk, Dolphin tour, Kayak trip... :cloud9:

Hilton Head Island is about a 15 1/2 hour drive for you. It can be done in one day.

March weather is variable. Last week we had weather from the 50's to the 70's. There were a lot of Canadians around.

Lots of things to do there. Enough for a week.

We loved HHI.
Dolphins, kayaks, nature walks... great.

The BEST part was renting bikes and being able to ride everywhere on the great bike paths!
HHI is made for biking!

We just got home yesterday and despite the cool weather I know we want to go back again!!
It was such a relaxing vacation!! Here's my review.....
We left on Friday the 12th after work - stayed in Erie, PA for the night - 3.5 hrs driving including the wait at the border of about 20 to 25 mins.

Could have made it right to HH but we had decided to visit Williamsburg, VA since it wasn't too far out of the way - took 8 hrs with a few short stops to get to Williamsburg - we stayed at Great Wolf lodge there - loved it!! Visited Colonial Williamsburg and definatly want to go back and explore more.

Drove another 7.5 hrs to HH. Weather was iffy all week - only really nice days we had were Tuesday when we arrived mid afternoon and Friday - Thursday was ok in the afternoon but the only day we actually were willing to swim was Friday!
Did the scavenger hunt, shadow's tales, painted mugs, missed the t-shirt dying so will try that next time. Did the members day tour of the resort which was interesting, goofy bingo. did a dolphin tour which was very cool - the guide knew all the dolphin's by name and one of them was swimming close enough we could have reached out and touched - he was very informative and we learned lots from him! We also golfed the Arthur Hills course. Oh and did the Campfire's - Kate, Jennifer and Janelle from the Lifeguard team are very fun and they knew us all by name by the end of the week. There are so many activities that looked interesting I would definatly go back and do them again!!

Met several Dis'ers there too!

We also rented bikes - great way to get around. The kids also enjoyed playing in the tide pools - found lots of cool stuff to explore!

All in all despite the cooler weather it was an amazing week and we all can't wait to go back!

Hello All!

After two years of planning, and with some pixie dusts, I have finally booked a 3 nights stay at Disney's Hilton Head Island resort for this Auguest. Oh boy that resort is so hard to get a reservation!!

Anyway, now I got a room there, I can plan my trip for real.
Since I ask that question 2 years ago, things has changed. We are in the process of adopting a little boy, he will be 6 next month. This trip in August will be our first trip together as a family.

My question is: Is it do-able to drive down from where we are (Niagara Falls, ON)? Will it be too much driving time for a 6 years old? What is the max number of hours YOUR kids can handle sitting in the car? Any suggestions where we should visit/ stop along the way to make the trip easier for the little guy? :surfweb: Please help!

:worship:
