Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa + Construction Updates!! **LOBBY REFURB STARTED 4/14**

Im hoping someone staying at GF can check something for me. I’m looking for a bottle of Iron Horse Fairytale Cuvee Sparkling wine. I’ve seen it at deluxe hotel gift shops, but can‘t remember where I saw it last, so I’m trying to narrow it down. I know I can add it to a Disney floral gift, but I’d like to see if I could just get a bottle in a shop.
thank you to anyone who takes a look for me!

Please confirm or deny sound issues at Grand Floridian hotel rooms
I hear reports that Grand Floridian outer building rooms desperately need sound proofing... any truth to this? (I hope not). Thanks

I just spoke with my DVC guide, who told me room refurbishments have in fact begun at The Grand for Resort Rooms. He also mentioned that Sago Key is also where the “Sample Room” is located to show potential VGF buyers what the new rooms in the converted BPK will look like. Thought I’d share.

We stayed on our recent trip in two of the outer buildings, Sago Cay and Big Pine Key. We had no sound issues in either building. We have a baby so I am definitely sensitive to the sound issues right now lol. No complaints!

Pre-COVID Housekeeping Schedule Restored at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort

Housekeeping is now once again cleaning guest rooms more frequently, as the original cleaning schedule (that is, the schedule that was followed before the pandemic began) was officially restored at these resorts on March 4, 2022.

As a reminder, the original cleaning schedule entails the following services daily (at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa) OR every other day (at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts):

  1. Making the bed
  2. Full bathroom clean
  3. Wiping down all surfaces
  4. Replacing amenities as needed (such as coffee, shampoo, soap, etc.)
  5. Vacuum
  6. Dust
  7. Fold and organize loose clothing and other special touches
Please, note that the housekeeping schedule of DVC rooms has NOT changed, but the ability to purchase additional cleaning service has been reinstated at the resorts mentioned above.

We were able to request full housekeeping at no extra cost in Feb. So glad this is returning as a regular offering. Hopefully the other hotels will follow suit soon.

We have our reservation in for a TPV room in the main building for October. What is the best place to contact to see if the main building will be undergoing refurbishment in October?

I've emailed my Convention Manager for confirmation on when they're renovating the main building. My Convention is in early December and I have a bunch of suites, including a few in the main building, so I know they won't be renovating then. :-)

Also just came across this… I typically do not post from this blog anymore, but I thought it was interesting…

Rumor: Disney’s Grand Floridian Might Be Getting New Theming Soon

Now, it seems that the turn-of-the-century-inspired hotel might be getting some theming updates. The information comes courtesy of a recently filed construction permit that lists “General Construction” as its purpose. While this is a vague description that can mean anything from a minor change to a major overhaul, the key thing here, however, is the name of the contractor who will be completing the project.

MLC Theming, Inc. is a specialty company that generally works on large-scale ride theming projects — in fact, they are currently also slated to do work on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park — so it is intriguing to see their name on a Resort hotel permit.

Wondering if those daybeds will make their way to cast connection soon... Ill have to get my brother in law's brother on the lookout 😂 My 4 YO son was obsessed with his "bed" in Feb (at least for half the night until he crawled back into ours lol).
