I've got a Resort Studio Standard View booked for May 25-29 2025.
I've never stayed at Grand Floridian before and am really looking forward to it.
My kids will be 9 and 6, tell me everything I need to know :)

We are on a very strict budget this trip, so sadly no table service meals. What are some good counter service meals at the resort? We will likely be having 2 full resort days while there.

Unfortunately the Grand has the weakest quick service of the monorail resorts. To be totally honest as much as I adore it, it’s absolutely not the resort I would have picked if table service was out of the budget. Gasparilla isn’t bad, it gets the job done, but Contempo and Capt Cook’s have more and better options imo. And aside from the pool bar, Gaspys is it for QS at the Grand. They don’t have anything else but TS, nothing equivalent to a Kona Island or Pineapple Lanai.

Luckily if you get tired of Gaspy’s you can walk over to Poly again now that the tower is open.

Oh, lucky you! The Grand truly is grand but you won't feel out of place or surrounded by snooty people. The size of the resort is amazing! The gorgeous, luscious green lawn surrounding the pool is so enticing at the end of a long day! Sometimes there are movies on the lawn at night, and children are ALWAYS playing in the grass.

The pools are beautiful and the lobby is amazing. I always sink down in a cushy sofa and enjoy the grand pianist play before a dinner out.

As far as food, we love the cafe, It's not too expenvie at all. And the quick counter is actually good. I think I had a bacon croissant with a side...of bacon, one morning and a cup of coffee, haha. Seriously, for counter service, it's great.

You won't get tired of walking as it's small and contained. Nothing is too far. We've stayed there at least ten times. We tried to stay at port orleans but the difference was like night and day. We got up and checked out and moved to the GF. It's expensive, so it's for those special occassions for sure. But if you can afford it, it's our most favorite resort along with Jambo house at the AK lodge. Enjoy your vacation. It's gonna be hot!

Now that the path has reopened, Captain Cooks at the Poly is another option for QS food. They have some unique menu items.

Hi! I have a similar trip to you coming up in March, a Resort Studio (aka Big Pine Key) with two kiddos, DD10 and DS13. I think you'll have a great time. The resort is lovely and one of our favorites. We also mainly eat at QS places and really enjoy Gasparilla's. There are two pools, and each has a QS with a small menu. Definitely look them up in the MDE app and see hours and menus. Also, give the Grand Floridian Cafe menu a look. The kids menu prices are very reasonable! I will give another thumbs up for venturing over to the Polynesian on your resort day to have a meal at Captain Cooks and dessert at Pineapple Lanai for a Dole Whip. If you like coffee, sweets, or sushi, stop at the Kona Island counter before hopping on the monorail back to the Grand. To travel to the Polynesian, you can walk from The Grand or catch the boat by Narcoosee's as it will stop at Poly before heading on to Magic Kingdom. You can also take the monorail, but it will make three stops before looping back to Poly.

Thanks all for the advice in this thread about Cabana rentals. I poured over the thread reading all posts.

Because of the tips I was able to snag one for our resort day in March. Called right at 7 am on my 60 day resort check in window, so 64 days from the actual date I booked. I wasn’t sure if that would work, but it did.

The CM said check in is at 9:45 am, but did not give an end time. For those that have rented one recently, what time do they end? I’ve read 7 pm, but that was only in relation to the half day bookings, which are no longer offered. Cost with tax was $297.14

Yes thanks so much, I already saw the bit about the pool and I was in fact asking about what else is going on, as I had not seen much. (walkways, lobby, etc...) I am hoping it stays that way through February! First stay there coming up!

Happy to help. Please keep us posted if you see any new work pop up. Thank you! Enjoy your trip!
