Good afternoon from The Grand! Just moved over from AKL!


Guys, this lobby is INSANE right now. By the looks of the lobby and the parking lot, they are sticking to the rule that if you are not staying here or having dinner here, you cannot park here. The line for the monorail goes all the way back, almost to Enchanted, Rose!!!!!! I typically love sitting here and just enjoying the atmosphere, but today that is not happening. The piano player is playing, but I believe it’s just too much chaos to enjoy it.

Yikes! What a difference from the quite of the AKL. I know the Security check for the Monorail slows things down a bit this it next level.

Thanks for sharing! Amazing crowds...So sorry for you guys. Hopefully, it will get better! Keep us posted. Just remember, a bad day at the Grand is still better than a good day at work! LOL

Agreed.

I think the only thing that annoys me is all the people using the golden elevator. When staying in RPC it can be hard to get to your room. Sometimes I just walk to Gaspies and use the one way over there

Then i reward myself by getting a champagne and people watch from above.

Just my opinion but one of them should be for RPC guests only aka magic band (or mde app) to gain access to it. (and I'm saying this as someone who hasn't beed too WDW in years but has always thought that during my stays)

I couldn’t agree more. It’s no fun trying to find space in the elevator for a DM, DM’s scooter and the regulation shopping bags at the end of a day in the parks. It’s even worse if you have a dinner ADR to dress for at the end of it. Let’s hear it for verification requirements and subsequent banishment for those not staying RPC!

Wow! How often does the monorail line usually extend that far into the hotel? I've never seen it extend beyond the monorail station itself, so this is new to me. I was at the GF on Nov. 24th for dinner and we just walked right onto the monorail with no wait! Is this typical for the holiday season?

This is honestly the worst that I’ve seen it, but what I’m assuming is, it’s because they are sticking to their rule this year, which is you cannot get into the parking lot without a dinner or resort reservation and must take Disney transportation to get here. We have come in and out of the lot with our car and have not had to wait on any crazy line to get in and there’s plenty of spots.

Holy crap…as much as I love the Grand this pretty much cemented my desire never to stay there during the holidays. I’m getting anxious just looking at these crowds.

That’s my favorite elevator!! Felt like a VIP using it!!! Especially since my room was literally right next to it that first time I stayed there. It was like my own private elevator haha

I thought it was RPC only?! all these years... it goes to 2nd floor?

Years ago no one used that elevator. They saw the sign RPC guests only and used the glass elevators on the other some of the resort.,

We teased DD when dh and I first stated in RPC in 2013. Told her we got to use the golden elevators. She was jealous,

Now ? Everyone uses the elevator. They should just take the sign down, it’s not enforced and when you see people lining up,for it, most people just follow on without even knowing anything.

Yep it goes to 2nd without tapping the MB reader on it. To get up to 3-5 you have to tap to go up.
