Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa + Construction Updates

I must have missed something. Are pools closing for refurb or something? I haven't seen anything about that. I have a long stay coming in August and certainly want the pool/pools available.
The construction notice on the Disney GF website mentions the pools. Nothing specific has been announced, though.

Ah, most pools. Wish they would mention which pools might be closed. We moved from YC over to CR and were thinking of switching GF for our stay in Aug. may just stay lit at CR for now.

They just did the Courtyard Pool last February (closed right before we got there 🙃) , so I would think it would be safe. Hopefully if they do close any it won't be until next winter.

Keep in mind, the Courtyard Pool itself was not refurbished, they just replaced the roof of the bar area.
Well. Now I’m nervous. We honestly never saw them doing any work the entire time we were there so had no idea what they were working on. Still, hopefully they will wait for fall/winter to work on pools or send out an email with enough time for me to switch resorts 😬

Book 2 resorts , gf and another… wait and see?

If don’t want to tie up funds call and do that $200 deposit ticketless package. For that price book 3 rooms😂😅!

Hello!
We are checking in on Monday, with family coming down too. We're experienced GF folks and have had beautiful experiences with the desk in getting a great room

What has been you experience requesting early check in? We had to change our flight and now are arriving around lunch instead of late afternoon.

Newly Painted Details at Grand Floridian’s Perch Lobby Bar

Guests visiting the Perch Lobby Bar at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa may notice some fine new detailing on the ceiling.

We spotted maintenance crews working on The Perch lobby bar at Disney's Grand Floridian on January 21, and now we can see what they were up to. The bar, which opened this past November, now has fitting details on each of the ceiling tiles.

These finely painted details are X's comprised of feathered lines, a nod to the bar's overall theming. The Perch is fashioned in homage to the large birdcage that formerly sat in the lobby. The feathery details are on every one of the bar's ceiling tiles.

That is real attention to detail. Those Disney Imagineers are nothing if not through.

It varies depending on if there is a room ready that meets your room category, and or your optional requests. It never hurts to stop at the Front desk area in the lobby.

Thought you would find this interesting....

We were doing a major cleaning and I found this in a box, it's the end of stay bill for our first stay at the GF way back in August 1988. I censored our information but left the TA phone number because I'm not sure if they're still in business. I'm glad I found this because I always wondered what our room number was for this trip.

It was just mom and I (or 1 adult & 1 junior)

Our room was in Conch Key, #7416

The prices are insanely cheap (compared to today)
$803 for 4 nights
1900 Park Fare $38.69 (not sure if this was breakfast or dinner)
Flagler's (now Citricos) $77.31
