I know this is an old question and i have used the search and couldnt find it and i know i found it here on the boards somewhere a long time ago but i was talking to a coworker the other day and she didnt believe me. Problem is i cant remember the name of it and i remember some posted some pictures of it on what it used to look like and what it looks like now

can anyone help ?

thanks

The name is/was River Country. It was located at Fort Wilderness Campground. It is still there but is not being used. I don't have any pictures. Good luck finding some :)

There's a very sad looking satellite image of it on Google Maps (south center side of Bay Lake)

You know I vaguely remember hearing about River Country. The pictures were very interesting!

aww thank you everyone so much

Does anyone remember how cold the water was at River Country?

Every time I ask someone that, they say no but I remember freezing in that water. I think it was from Bay Lake.

You are correct and that was part of the problem. The water went in and out of RC and Baylake.

The water was FRIGID! I loved the pool, and the slides, but it was pretty uncomfortable in the inner-tube ride and the swimming-hole side. Still, it was a lot of fun, and I really miss that park. I remember one Christmas we were staying at FtW in a Wilderness home, and the temps got warm enough that they decided to open River Country, although it was officially closed. I don't think they advertised it, and only the people staying in FtW knew about it. What a great time we had!
Too bad they couldn't figure out a way to rehab it in such a way that it could be used as a themed pool for the FtW resort area.

river country was the best water park ever. i remember going there as a kid. i hate the current water parks and never visit them on my trips to disney. it would be really cool if they could dam up the lake or something so that it could use chlornated pool water and re-open. i'd be the first in line!

I sadly never got to go to river country.

Swimming in lake water seems to scare me . .

I can remember going to River Country as a kid and loving it!!! Guess it didn't really compare to what they have now! lol

River Country is a fond memory for me. We always stayed at Fort wilderness and river country was the place to be (this was pre-TL and BB). I think that they should plug up the hole between bay lake and river country, drain the lake water and put in some swimming pool water and open it back up. Too many fort wilderness guests and people with fond memories like myself would love to go back to not have the place open.

Disney if you are reading this bring back River Country!!!
