Hello everyone! Welcome to our Disneyland Dream Suite (Mini) Trip Report

First, let me thank Marshay for giving me the instructions, as I am still a DISer "newbie"... and to all of my wonderful friends located at the "CMO Top 10 Announced" http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=23666492&posted=1#post23666492 thread...Dancing bananas all around :banana:

Cast of Characters: Myself, DS14 and DS's girlfriend....

As Annual Passholders, we were given a wonderful opportunity through an email sent in February, 2008, to secure a limited time only tour of Disney's new Dream Suite!!! I received this email and immediately replied with the requested information (i.e. Passholder number and best date/time). I then received an email confirmation "Congratulations!" that we had secured our date and time....hooray!!!

Two weeks prior to this, we inquired at the "Tour Guide" station in Disneyland whether or not there would be any tours of the Suite and we were told "Sorry, no" you can only go in if you win it!!! So, we were very happy and thankful to be given this opportunity:worship:

Murals were hand-painted, beautiful!!!
DisneysDreamSuite029.jpg

The Grandmother clock is very special...At the strike of the hour, the lights go dim, When you wish upon a star is heard through many surrounding speakers and the image of Gippeto appears in the face...
DisneysDreamSuite034.jpg

In response to the clock, the mirror across the room reveals the image of a castle, they seem to talk to each other. Luckily, our tour went through this room right at the hour!!!! It was magnificent!!!!

DisneysDreamSuite027.jpg

On the marble mantle is a birdcage (with moving bird), which was made in the 1800's. Walt was so impressed with this bird that it was one of the inspirations for the animitronics in the Tiki Room.
DisneysDreamSuite031.jpg

A swatch of the material from the sofa was sent to Austria when they were etching the glass to match the design.

DisneysDreamSuite035.jpg

This hand-painted mirror was painted from the back, so every tiny detail had to be painted first (like the bird's eye). This was amazing!!!

After the tour was finished...we left the suite only to realize that the park had closed and there weren't any guests remaining....so we had a little fun!!!

Hey there Cal! This is too cool!!! I'm so glad you got to go! Your pics are amazing and it sounds like you had an incredible time! I'd love to be in the park after closing! Thanks for sharing! :hippie:

Nice Job, Cal! I'm so glad you got to do a tour.

I visited DL a couple years ago with my niece, and it was the first time I'd been there since 1978. I had been to WDW many times, but the original is still such a different feeling. I really enjoyed it.

One of the things we splurged on was the Fantasmic dessert buffet, and it was great. It was held on one of the patios that now is part of this Dream suite. I can't imagine how cool it must be now.

Do you know if the people (who win the suite for the night) will be able to be in the suite/patio during Fantasmic? How cool would that be?

Wow! CalDisney this is so awesome! Thanks for the pictures and the storyline.

I really like the lightswitch too!

The idea of mermaids swimming in that picture sounds terrific!

I love the fiber optics in the "sky".

Can you just imagine sleeping in there? Cuz you really wouldn't be sleeping at all but looking at all the special effects!!

Hmmm, the more I hear about overnight castle/suite guests being able to walk around the park at night, the more it intrigues me! Here I'm thinking if I ever win, that we would just stay in the room but it sounds like it's normal to walk around the park and I've heard stories of the guests ordering all kinds of things (late night snacks, goodie bags, etc).

The whole clock and mirror image of the castle sound wonderful! I hadn't heard that before.

The birdcage as inspiration for Tiki Birds! -- cool! I know a lot of folks don't like the Tiki Birds, but we took my 2yo DD and we all enjoyed it!

The train going around the room -- man, they just thought of everything!

Finally the park map with fiber optics -- now just how cool would that be to have in your house!

Yes, included in the "win" of the suite is dinner and the best view of fantasmic on the front patio....I took a few pictures of it, but they didn't come out very well....:)

Thanks! It was so cool! So many things that they could not show us...yes, we begged, but some things are meant to surprise the guests! Hopefully, it will be us one day!

Your pictures are beautiful - thanks for sharing! :worship: I'm sure most DL visitors would love to stay in the Dream Suite, but just being able to see inside it would be fantastic too! :goodvibes

It must have been great to wander around a deserted DL for a while as well! :)
