Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

Cabanas 9A if it isn't under renovation. We had the same situation last november. Stayed in the room. Right next to the pool. I would say Casitas 4 would fulfill those requirements as well.
Awesome, thanks for the tip. We stayed in 9A last year and were happy with it (even though 8A is our favorite!) so hopefully that one isn't under renovation at the time.

Heading to CSR at the end of next month for a couple of nights prior to our stay in the Treehouses. Looking for opinions on where to request. I prefer to be closer to bus stops 3 or 4 to go to the parks (we value stops earlier in the route around the resort)...would you request Ranchos and hope for a refurbished room or Casitas?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Right now they are making their way through individual buildings one at a time for room refurbs. They are currently finishing Ranchos 7A, and rumored to be doing 8A next. If that's the case, since they seem to be taking a few months to do each one, 8A should definitely be done, and then it depends which they go to next. We prefer 8B a little over 8A because it is a little closer closer to the front(unless they close that pathway at some pt. for construction!) and seems closer to the bus stop, though it probably depends which end of each building you end up in! It is also a little further from main pool, so less possible noise, and close to 9A which has the quiet pool and laundry. You could request both for now, and then keep an eye on this thread for updates on construction and room refurbs, and can pick the best one as it gets closer! We usually request both as we will be fine with either. I am jealous - love it there during the holidays!

You'd have the best luck asking the front desk as you check in. Even if you get a room ready text, visit them anyway just to check.

Brothers and Sisters of the Mouse! Why did Disney design this totally cool looking resort with a ginormous mosquito infested mud-hole right in the middle? The square footage of the resort is far to large. The Coronado is simply exhausting, I would love to enjoy the cool look and magic but I don't have the resolve. Please, if you love this resort tell me why.

When do you think 8A would be complete? Last week of Aug? Any pics of what the Cabana refurb looks like? TIA

I think it's hard to say. They have been working on 7A since the beginning of January. We are approaching 4 months on it. The reports were saying it takes about 2 months to complete a building, maybe they had some kinks to work out. Hopefully the pace will pick up as the refurb moves along.

Has been my favorite resort on property. Now with tower, not sure it will be anymore but ...
- Actually 3rd smallest moderate; CBR biggest then POR then CSR
- I have never experienced mosquitoes or bugs at the resort and most my stays are spring through summer there.
- I have never experienced mud at the resort but actually enjoy standing on the bridge watching the turtles and wildlife.
- LOVE the landscaping, the birds, the beach, the ranchos imagineering, the muted relaxing colors and details throughout.
- Huge plus is all the dining options there, several TS, QS, lounges, bars, food & mug refill at main pool.
- Love Pepper Market and feel grab/go etc options way better than other moderates
- One of the prettiest themed pools on property and always able to get loungers and tables.
- Largest hot tub on property
- Playground, arcade, beach volleyball ... a totally inclusive theme pool area.
- Huge slide great for adults and kids
- No room has far walk to a bus and the bus service has been one of the best of my 120+ stays
- Most centrally located and no long ride to anywhere
- Convention means many guests are not using the amenities I am
- Deluxe of the moderates
- Love the three themes; City, Desert, Beach
- Ranchos is our favorite, no more than 5 minute walk to front
- Lots of quiet spots, even quiet pools, hammocks, benches and I am always relaxed

Would you share dates for the Summit? We check in on the 9th and I'm wondering how much our trip will overlap and how long we should be expecting a full-to-capacity resort. We always travel this time of year and in general we like watching the cheerleaders practice. It's the "full" part that's got me a little worried.

We check in on the 8th and I'm also worried about the full part. I've been to CSR with conventions and normally you don't notice them much. Last year we were there at the same time as a HUGE hairdressers' convention and it was terrible, El Centro was just completely crazy. I can't speak about the pools since we were never used them. Busses in the evening were always full.

The website I saw states that this competition brings 9,000 athletes in. Obviously they won't all be at CSR, but I'm guessing a good % will be.

Hope you have a great vacation!

I think you'll find the bulk will be at the Allstars as they did a "buyout" there.

Your team may choose to stay at Disney’s All Star Resort* or Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. *The Summit has arranged to “buyout” Disney’s All Star Resort for Summit participants and family members purchasing a Summit travel package.

Wow! That's amazing. That's a whole bunch of cheerleaders!

I have played around with our dates at CSR and found that for most single days I can get some type of room, but days strung together, no way. When we added days we had to take first preferred and then I found a water view for the extra 2 nights, so hoping that we will be able to just stay in our standard room and not move.

Actually, when I put in my dates there is little available resort wide, so might be a busy week at WDW 2nd week of May.

Yes, but don't forget .... it's an unusual time ....
- CSR just lost building for the new tower
- CSR has rooms out of service for renovation
- CBR has lost a village for the new tower
- POP has rooms out of service for renovation
- AllStars has buyout

All these greatly impact room capacity at Values & Moderate.
Even after buyout, I expect rooms to be tougher to get at these levels.

What if you use Hotels.com?

They told me when I called the main reservation line that the reservation was "locked", and they couldn't add any requests. They were able to link our's and my in law's rooms together, but they said that was it.

Thank you for the information on buildings and construction. That is so helpful. Always know I can count on this site for help!

As for Summit dates...Yes the competition dates are May 5-7. Arrival dates for athletes and families will most likely begin Tuesday, May 2nd or Wednesday May 3rd for those competing on Wildcard bids. Monday May 8th you will probably have a majority leaving but some may stay a few extra days.

There are dance teams attending as well as cheer teams for The Summit. We were told yesterday that there are over 1000 cheer teams attending. I don't know how many dance teams attend. Can not even begin to figure out how many people that number is!!!!

3 weeks ago we were also informed by Disney and our gym, that All Star Resorts and Coronado Springs were completely booked and if you had not secured a room you would need to find accommodations elsewhere.

A FB group I'm a part had a poster that had arrived on Thursday and said there were cheerleaders and dance groups already there. And I believe there are some type of competitions for the May 12-15 as well. Sounds like 3 weekends of LOTS of cheering and dancing, lol.

Can anyone tell me if there are any conventions at this resort for the month of August please, if any. Thanks

Mom2stitch! You are so correct. I forgot that Worlds Competition for cheer and dance is going on. I believe that is April 29-May 1st. It will be a busy place!

Fiona35 great question on the conventions! Is there a Disney website or somewhere to check and see if when conventions are at CSR?

Now I have never been to Summit before or to Coronado. We typically stay at Poly or GF but from what our info that is coming from Varsity/Disney, I am going to say Coronado will be busy all day with cheerleaders. There will be practices held at Coronado in the convention center all day from what I under stand. Every team is on different schedules, meet times, compete times and practice times so they will be all over the place. I am anticipating long lines and busy! Hoping parents and athletes are respectful of other people.
