Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

:wave2:
Hi everyone! I'm not sure if this is the best/most appropriate place to ask this question, but I thought I'd try! My husband and I stayed CL at GF a couple years ago on our babymoon, and it was amaaaaaaazing. We barely went into the parks and I wouldn't have minded skipping them completely. So my question is....is there another destination that we could consider rather than Disney to capture that feeling of CL? We're in TN, if that helps. We love (LOVE) Disney, but I thought another location might be a bit more cost effective if we were just interested in the CL-esque experience, rather than the Disney one.
Thanks!

The Woodloch Pines Resort in PA. Although the facilities are not as gorgeous as The Grand Floridian, the service is awesome and the area of the resort is naturally beautiful!

Hi Everyone!
We just got back from a lovely stay at the Grand Floridian...Theme Park View Room...Royal Palm Club. I can not force my family to look at all my room and club photos...so that's where you guys come in! Here is my photo-packed review of our week (July 13-20)!!

Overall, we had a VERY good trip. This was our first time at RPC but our 3rd Disney trip this year. Our previous two trips were BWI CL during Christmas week and Poly CL last August. I have to say that our room at the GF was by far our favorite room we've ever stayed in. Before our arrival I sent an email to Disney Signature Services and asked for "4th floor please, as close to the center of the hallway as possible (example rooms 4404, 4405, 4406)". We were going for the best view and boy did we get it!

We were assigned room:

The room was light, bright, airy and clean. The tall recessed ceiling made it feel very large. We have two teenagers and the room felt plenty big. I think my photos are pretty decent, but they still don't do it justice :)

Thanks, Pete, for ensuring that our sofa day bed was clean! My 16 year old son slept on it comfortably!

As with any hotel, it wasn't perfect. Here's a run-down of what went right and what went "not-so-right". After we pulled up under the GF main entrance and unloaded the luggage from our car, we were directed to the self parking lot. This is were we discovered big issue #1...there were never free spots in the main inn lot. Every single time except once we had to park in the convention center parking lot which isn't exactly close. Considering you pay for parking, this didn't feel grand (especially given RPC rates). While my DH went to park the car, I went into the lobby with my kids where we were greeted by Zachary. He was AWESOME! He chatted with us until my DH returned and escorted us upstairs. He brought us our welcome drinks which were delicious. (You can see them in the second pic above). Anyway, Zachary made us forget all about the inconvenient parking!

Our check-in was smooth and uneventful. One funny thing...before arriving we sent an email to DSS requesting extra hangers in our closet. In true Disney fashion they responded with "thanks for your request; we will do our best but it's not guaranteed." I understand why they say it, but it made us laugh that they couldn't even guarantee hangers. Anyway, when we arrived...no extra hangers. But we did request them and they were delivered.

Overall, mousekeeping was excellent. We had a few minor issues (flickering light, red spots on shower curtain) that were addressed very quickly. They even followed up with us to let us know the red spots were not blood but some kind of shampoo or lotion stain. They said they actually tested the stain to be certain. We were impressed with that.

I have to say, the biggest issue we had with the room was that it was a connecting room. I knew when I made the request that a connecting room was possible, but in all our Disney years we've never had a big issue with connecting neighbors. But, this was the first year we had a family full of banshees staying next door. These people did not talk to one another...they yelled. And, they obviously let their little hooligans jump on the bed and scream...at all times of day. The very first night we had to call down at midnight because they were listening to music and YELLING. We pushed the button on the phone labeled "concierge" and they sent someone up to their room quickly to quiet them down. I have no idea where the "concierge button" rings (an offsite call center or at the GF) but it seemed to work. I did go down to the concierge on the 3rd floor the next day to discuss our options and find out when the Banshees were leaving. Turns out, their stay exactly overlapped with ours for the whole week. The CM told me that she could look for a new room for us but that was about it. And, she said that anytime they were noisy after 10 pm to call. Honestly, I didn't want to give up our room because it was perfect in every way and I LOVED the view. We almost felt like the kid in school who has their seat moved when a bully is bothering them. Why don't they move the bully? Anyway, we rolled with it and did end up calling around midnight on two other evenings to have them dealt with.

Other than those things, the room was perfect! We liked how light and bright the bathroom area was and my daughter and I both appreciated the nice full-length mirror and the bright make-up light. There was plenty of storage in the room, but less than at the Poly last year. I also loved the artwork in the room and the overall styling of it. It did not feel tired or worn at all!

Gotta run an errand now, but I'll be back with a few pics of the view! Stay tuned!

Let me know if you have any room questions!

Oooh! That’s nice you can call about banshee neighbors. I did that at Disneyland Grand Californian when people were screaming next door one night and they said because Disney doesn’t have quiet hours unless I reported I suspected violence was occurring there was nothing Disney would do. I assumed that was Disney’s policy on both coasts- nice to know it isn’t and you can call about noisy neighbors to try and quiet them down at the World! Sorry you had to deal with that though, very unfortunate they over lapped with you :(

I just wanted to post that I stayed CL at Contemporary last week.
It was my first time at a Deluxe and we went all out with CL and TPV.
We really didn't have much contact with the CM's at the desk as we didn't really need anything.
We talked to a few of the CM's who clear the tables etc and asked for bottles of water each day.
Everyone was very nice.
We felt that we took very good advantage of the lounge.
First day we had dinner, dessert, and drinks.
Second day we had breakfast, brought Contempo Cafe up for lunch and had cans of soda, and had dessert and drinks.
Third day we had breakfast.
Fourth day we had breakfast, dinner, dessert, and drinks.
And the fifth day we had breakfast and dinner.

We thought it may be a hassle to get back for anything beyond breakfast but it actually worked out much easier than expected.

Our TPV was unbelievable and we watched HEA from our balcony 3 times.

I will say that the rooms are nothing to write home about.
You can tell they are old and for some reason the shower took nearly 5 minutes to get beyond lukewarm.
The view was worth it though and I'm happy to report that we had 4 USB ports.

Funny enough, just back from a week at Poly CL. Last night during dessert service I witnessed a solo gentleman trying to take and arm full of beers from the beer fridge and he was stopped by a CM saying it was two max per person. He was none too pleased, to put it lightly.

Poly doesn’t stock the beer fridge during the day any more, only 5pm+. It’s by request at other times. I suspect most won’t encounter such rigid enforcement during the self-serve hours, but it’s not outside of the realm of possibility. There were many new to me CM faces around this trip, FWIW.

From a practical perspective, if you’re getting beers for the pool (which should technically be in a plastic cup) there are only so many cups full of beers one can realistically carry out of the lounge, down the stairs or elevator, out to the pool, etc, so you have that to consider as well.

As with many Disney things, YMMV.
Thanks for the first hand experience. And I appreciate that there's only so much that's reasonable to carry (although my years of working as a drink waiter might be fun to put to the test), but it'd be nice to be able to take down 2 drinks for my wife and 2 more for me without the extra round trip. That's all I'm really hoping for. Count down is at 36 hours to departure!

Continuation of Review of Room 4405...Grand Floridian...Theme Park View...Royal Palm Club

So, this is what I considered the very best part of this room: the View! It really was amazing and much better than I expected it would be. Until now, the Poly has been our very favorite resort and we usually stay TPV there as well. We were expecting an inferior view at GF as the view of the castle is not straight on. But...we were happily surprised! Although the view is of the side of the castle, it felt like the castle was definitely closer than the Poly view. The Poly offers sweeping views and we knew that this view would be more narrow as it looked down the marina. But, it was still beautiful! As you will see, unlike at the Poly, the fireworks are not centered over the castle. Instead, they sit to the left of the view. But, that did not bother us at all! Still gorgeous! Also, I much appreciated being so high up. Being on the 4th floor put us well over the tree line. We also felt the volume of the fireworks music was just right. In the past, the Poly speakers have been a bit loud or garbled. Here, the music was crystal clear and just right.

When we walked into our room for the first time and stepped up to the window, I think we all let out an audible gasp. This is why I requested "center of the hallway"; I really wanted to look straight out over the marina water. The castle was beautifully centered...just perfect! Again, I wish the pictures did it justice!

Looking straight out:

And, our favorite, the fireworks view:

The full resolution pics on my desktop are pretty awesome...I wish I didn't have to reduce the quality so much to show them on the Disboards :) Oh Well!
I've got a bunch of PRC lounge pics too! I will post them when I get some more free time :)

@Bucky1306, not sure where you are in TN but look at the Inn at Blackberry Farm in Walland near Knoxville. As @mickeyluv'r mentioned, Bedford Springs, Greenbrier and Mackinac Island Grand Hotel are worth a visit. The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA, and Mohonk Mountain in upstate NY are also year round luxury resorts in the grand old style. The Inn at Perry Cabin was in Wedding Crashers on Maryland's Easterrn Shore. Keswick Hall in Charlottesville, VA is almost finished with a 2 complete year remodel and is also worth considering.

I posted this earlier on general thread but I think maybe I should have posted on the CL thread:

So I am about 29 days out from my stay. We are staying at the Poly club level, we have 2 GV rooms. I have a few questions:

1. Which GV rooms do you like and why? We prefer 3rd floor or 1st. Would love connecting rooms but they don't have to be. Prefer away from the lounge and quieter rooms. Which specific room #'s should I request?

2. Do I email my request in or call DSS? Or should do I do both?

3. Should I do the online check in or does that pretty much eliminate me from getting my requests? If it helps we will not be getting to Poly until around 10:00 p.m.

Please let me know if there is anything else I should do for the room requests and I would love to hear good/bad on certain CL rooms! It has been quite a while since we have been to Disney and we have never stayed CL at Poly so I need some help :worship:

Thank you!

That's disappointing to me, too. We're checking in on Saturday and were hopeful for a room with a daybed and a balcony. It never occurred to me to ask for a balcony.
I don’t know the exact room count on the CL floor without a balcony - it may even be that one room. I’ve been reading this thread for awhile now and have rarely/almost never seen YC Cl reports noting no balcony. So, possible, yes... but odds are it won’t come in to play.

Agree with the PPs about submitting any room requests via DSS if so inclined.
I think that the Yacht Club only has one club level room without a balcony and only a couple of regular rooms without a balcony. So your odds of getting that room are small. But it does have a great view. :)

Its not too late.

Email them and say you never thought to ask but your family would really enjoy a balcony and daybed. They will try to meet all requests. If you don't request, how do they know what you want?

Good luck!!

Thank you. I will do that. I did request the daybed and explained why. When DSS called me earlier this week, they reconfirmed that my request for a daybed was noted a few times. I hate to be a pest, but I'm an early riser and love sitting on the balcony as the rest of my party sleeps or gets ready for the day -- even when there is a lounge.

Sounds like you had a wonderful stay! We check in on 8/26, also TPV and are looking forward to watching fireworks from the room every night! I am getting a little nervous about the food here compared to other resorts. We have stayed CL at other resorts but this is our first time staying CL at CR. Based on pictures it looks like hard-boiled eggs are the only egg option for breakfast? Do you happen to remember if they had any Coke zero products? TIA! 😊

Thank you!

1. I would request "away from lounge" and a floor preference rather than a specific room #. If you request a certain room and that room is not available, the room assigner will not know why you wanted that particular room. If you list other requests (along with the room #, if you want), the room assigner will have something to go by when looking for another room should that one room not be available.

2. You can do both.

3. Doing/not doing OCI won't effect your requests. Just remember if you do OCI not to check off any requests. I'm not positive, but from what I've read here on the boards, I think that will take precedence over any other request(s) you made. Hopefully others will be able to verify that or correct me if I'm wrong.

I can't help with GV CL rooms as I've only stayed LV CL, but I don't think there's a bad room/view at the Poly. Poly CL is amazing!! Hope you have a great trip :wizard:.

I hate to be a pest, but I'm an early riser and love sitting on the balcony as the rest of my party sleeps or gets ready for the day -- even when there is a lounge.

I'm with you.....I love sitting on the balcony early in the morning as well as late at night after others have gone to bed. It's just a very relaxing way to start and end the day :cloud9:.

1. I'd ask for a 'quiet room" = away from both lounge + stairs. I've only been to Poly a few times, we were not close to the lounge, but our neighbors sure were little banshees, as another poster recently put it! We don't find the lounges loud, but elevator/stairs can be.
2. In my experience one or the other works; no need for both.
3. There's no big benefit to online check-in with CL, unless you plan to go directly to a park upon arrival. No disadvantage, unless you don't want room charging. Typically, for CL you'll be escorted to CL upon arrival either way, where CM's will go over CL with you. So same amount of time either way. CL=extra service. You get to sit and ask all the questions you have!

Room charging =$100 hold on your credit or debit card. There are multiple thread on this topic. Good to know details of how it works.
4. I suggest watching the MK fireworks from the lounge (or your room) at least 1 night. If you are NOT going to the Halloween party, that's a good night to see them from the Poly.

Thank you. I will do that. I did request the daybed and explained why. When DSS called me earlier this week, they reconfirmed that my request for a daybed was noted a few times. dd24 and I will be there LV cl 8/29-9/2!

For gv cl I always had 3rd floor. I enjoy that but would also like 1st floor. I like to have that outside space.

They have lots of connecting rooms so that should be doable. Besides if you dont get connecting you have 2 chances of getting the Banshees ppl are talking about:rotfl2:

Does the YC lounge still have most of their daytime and evening food offerings trend heavily toward fish and seafood, or does that vary, depending on day of week?
