Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

Is anyone else past their 180 day mark and not heard a peep from DSS? I know some of y'all contacted them first, so I'm curious what their contact rate has been so far for those of us who haven't initiated a dialogue with them.

I have a few reservations currently on the books. Here is the DSS hit record so far. Although seeing these typed out is making me think I have a real problem! :rolleyes1 For full disclosure, one or two of these will likely be cancelled. :sad2:

April 1st Part - No
April 2nd Part - Yes (contacted last week)
July - No
Sept - Yes (contacted a couple of weeks before 180)
December - No

Seems hit/miss to me. Not unlike the old IPO e-mails, sometimes I'd get them, sometimes not.

Thanks for the responses y'all. At least I'm not the only one who got lost in the DSS shuffle. Oddly enough, I always used to get the old IPO emails for every trip.

On an unrelated note, has anyone been to WL CL lately? I'm curious if there's any word going around up there about what's gonna happen to CL after the DVC transition of half the resort is done in a few months. I have a hard time believing they'll keep the CL the way it is now, restricted to so few resort rooms, and I'm worried what the future holds. We'd been wanting to return but don't think we'll be back now, sadly. Anyone heard anything?

Definitely a good question. I was there in November just after the new lounge opened. I never saw the old lounge so don't have a prior frame of reference, but the new lounge was awesome. The food and drink selection were phenomenal, arguably the top CL we've been to in that respect.

From what I read on the other threads it's been announced that DVC won't offer a CL option like what they do with those few rooms at AKL, so that's a good thing I guess. It's TBD how they are going to "lock off" the lounge side from DVC, presumably a gate/door or something I guess. That part was behind a construction wall in November.

When there I chatted with a CM one morning. Obviously take everything she said with a grain of salt, but she seemed half-way legit. She said there had been discussions about making the 6th floor CL as well but nothing had been determined yet. Honestly that would seem to make sense from a room count perspective, maybe? Hard to tell. She did say the new lounge was smaller than the old lounge.

We do know there have been a few reports of non-CL guests being offered the option for CL lounge access at check-in for an additional nightly charge (not moving to the CL floor... keeping their room but having lounge access). Not sure how prevalent that is/was or if it's even continuing.

Not many answers I know, so put all of that in the FWIW file. :-)

Thanks again for the helpful info!! I'm going to treat myself but not Club Level this time. This morning while seeing which CL were still available I just happened to see that the Poly had an opening!! Which it was all booked up when I made my first reservation. While it isn't CL I feel better about staying there and I wouldn't have that far of a week to get on the monorail vs having to catch a bus to and from All Star where I was going to stay. And Poly is the one resort I have always wanted to stay at!! :):):):)

I'm honestly not upset or anything, and im NOT trying to start anything but can you say why you think it's a good thing that they didn't do DVC CL at WL? It's really hard to convey tone on these boards and I'm honestly just curious of your point of view, that's it. You are a DVC member, right?

I would wager the overwhelming majority of folks in this particular thread are definitely not DVC members, since CL is only available at AKL and even there only for like 10 rooms total. Personally, I've always had a hard time convincing the pushy DVC sales reps at the resorts that no, we don't want DVC because we want CL and an actual resort room with housekeeping, toiletries every day, etc. They just never seem to get it, although I do enjoy giving them my "I better never see a kitchen in my room on vacation unless I got upgraded to the presidential suite" speech! :rotfl:

I'm not happy about the WL giveaway to DVC. They shouldn't have given half the main lodge away, imo. It's a huge loss for those of us who want to book the regular resort rooms, CL or no CL.

Totally legit question... I'm not even sure what I really meant by that to be honest! Not something I have some sort of sinister opinion for or against or anything. I was more thinking about it from a selfish perspective... smaller inventory of CL rooms = more cozy/quaint/less crowded lounge = better access to CMs, etc. Although that cuts the other way too in less availability of CL rooms to book.

No, I am not DVC. We have looked into it in the past but it doesn't really fit our style. Actually, I would be more intrigued by it if they did have more CL-type accomodation options!

Sorry if my wording was offensive, I didn't mean it that way!

Thank you. Although I don't know you personally, your other posts always come off super helpful and sincere so I didn't take it offensively at all. I just wondered why you thought it was a bad thing and I think you make a great point.

10-4, thanks. Never hesitate to call me out for poor word choice when needed! :duck:

Our 2 cents on WL CL. We are here for the first time - one night stay before we head out on the Fantasy tomorrow. We typically favor the monorail resorts (Poly and GF) because we have young kids and the convenience factor is huge.. but the kids have been asking to stay here so here we are.

We are impressed. The room was ready early. No better way to start your Disney trip than landing at MCO and receiving a text saying your room is ready early. They greeted us and escorted us to the room with a short tour of the lounge. There were welcome gifts and our plans printed out (included fast passes-- haven't seen this for years at Poly or GF). We dropped off our suitcases, the kids changed their clothes and were in the pool by 2 p.m. The snacks and appetizers were diverse and different from offerings at other CLs - super tasty. Lounge was very cozy and well thought out. Only gripe was they had not one, but TWO wine guards who took their job VERY seriously. LOL - have learned from staying at various CLs that it is about the CM not the Club... so we would conclude that while everything else went flawlessly, we got unlucky in the wine guard department.

We didn't find the construction to be a distraction, but could understand if you were staying here for an extended period of time it might be problematic. Overall, a great stay and we will be back.
