Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

We were in a Nemo suite in May. No complaints about mouse keeping. Bus waits were long at MK but fine everywhere else. Not a fan of the food court. I found it loud. Food was ok.

We were in a LK suite last year and had no problems with housekeeping or the food. In fact, we thought housekeeping was great. Our room was always clean and any time we requested extra towels or bedding they were delivered quickly. Granted, I didn't walk around with a magnifying glass looking for dirt and I didn't have any white gloves to look for hidden dust, but the room appeared to be very clean every day. As for the food, we didn't have any problems there, either. There were a few times that we had to wait in some long lines depending on which station we were ordering from, but I was fine with that since we received fresh, hot food. Some people don't like AoA's food court because they have more "adventurous" food offerings than the other Value resorts. I've seen people give it a bad review because you can't get chicken nuggets there and their kids were devastated about that. There are still the standard pizza and burgers for those who want them. But there are some really unique food court offerings as well. And Pop Century is just over the bridge with their own food court. I don't know what site you were reading that had so many bad reviews of AoA, but keep a few things in mind when reading those reviews. 1. Travel sites (like Expedia, Priceline, etc.) have bad reviews for *many* hotels -- not just Disney ones. 2. To some people, seeing a crumb on the floor and some dust in a corner constitutes "horrible housekeeping". If they haven't listed details as to why housekeeping was so "horrible" I just take it with a grain of salt. 3. People are more likely to complain if they don't like something than to write a good review if they loved the place. So for every person who complains, there are 100 people (random number there) who loved everything about their stay but never say a word about it. 4. Some people write false/phantom reviews because they had a bad experience and they want to make it look like a lot of people are having that same experience. Seriously, I've heard way more good reviews of AoA than bad. I'm not saying it's not possible to have a bad housekeeping (or food) experience at AoA, but that can (and does) happen at any one of the Disney resorts, it's not unique to AoA.
Ditto to every single point. Except we stayed in Cars. But staying LK next! :)

Mouse keeping was great for us in the LK section. They even out the fold up couch back together each day. Food was standard food court fare, which we were expecting. We weren't wowed but it was fine for what it is.

We have stayed in LM section. Housekeeping was great and I liked food court better than the Qs option at the poly.

Our Family are staying in the AOA and I hope to stay in the Cars for September 2014! And one more thing. We requested a crib for a baby and does the AOA has baby cribs in the family suites?

On request, yes. Sounds like you requested, and so there you have it! :)

They will bring in a pack n play on request. There is plenty of room for one. We had ours in the kitchen spot.

Hi folks!

My mom and I are staying here nov 4-8th! I just booked it today, actually!! :)

Anyways, how are the mermaid rooms? That's what I booked.

Also, I was reading about the hotel having bed bugs???? Is that legit??

Thanks!

Um, it's a pretty good bet that ALL the Disney resorts have had bed bugs, along with every other resort in the US. They isolate your stuff, decontaminate it, and gas the hell out of the room or whatever they do to kill them off. Don't sweat it. Google how to check your room upon entering if you feel the need. But don't forget, you are never safe unless you stay home. The damn things can climb on and into your luggage while on an airplane too. Hehe. Getting grossed out yet?

Thank you for getting back to me!! We are so excited! Plus, we are celebrating my mom's birthday while there!!!

Bed bugs happen even in 5 stars hotel. It's one of the risks coming with travelling.

I got my own routine when I get into a new hotel. Before I put my luggage anywhere in the room (I suspend them):

I take pictures of the room when I get in (while it's cute)... Then I remove all sheets from the bed to take a good look at the mattress (look on youtube, they'll show you where to check and what to look for) and I open every drawers of the room to make sure I don't see bedbugs or eggs.

Yes, it kills the mood a bit but when you see nothing, you can sleep in peace. Just check your body to see if you are free of stings...

I know that some store are selling bed bug traps (the name sounds like Beddybugs, I am not sure) that you can stick on the bed and if the bugs are inside the bed, it'll go in the trap but I am not sure how it works or if it is efficient.

I actually think you have less chances to get bed bugs in values and moderates since it's very unlikely that they'll move from room to room by going outside (it's easier in a hallway)...

OH NOES! Family suites ARE hallways! ;)

(And now, after my joking about worrying about bed bugs, I am sure to get them myself in two weeks)

How is the water pressure in the suites? I know most hotels morning/night prime time is already an issue. Just curious if both showers can run at the same time or does that have issues with the water pressure?

We stayed in a suite with six people, and had showers runnning every morning and evening. Never had any problems with water pressure and the water was always nice and hot. :thumbsup2

Hello! Staying in cars suite in September and had a quick question on the room preferences you can request when doing online checkin. If you choose a pool view, do most rooms provide good views of the "cars" statutes? My youngest is 1, and trying to decide whether a view of the cars is a better option (for the older ones) or a lake view is better for the baby (to be quieter). Thanks

Same for us. Six people, lots of showers, no problems with water pressure or temperature. And I have to say I loved the rainfall shower head in the master bathroom. I talked about it so much that when we got home, my husband went and bought one exactly like it (or as close to it as he could find) to surprise me with. Now we just need those Lion King tiles for the walls.... :lmao:
