I just stayed at AoA this past February and LOVED it!! I went with my mom and two other friends and their moms, and we fit snugly in the room, having two bathrooms is what helped a lot. I slept on the queen bed and pullout couch bed, and the couch bed was the most comfortable couch bed I have ever slept on. It was like they put memory foam on top so you couldn't feel the springs. We stayed in a cars suite bc when we booked it with AAA it was cheaper. We saved almost $200 a person by switching from Nemo to Cars. The rooms were so cute! We didn't really care about the whole gender issue because they were just too cute to complain. Everything was themed so nicely. The walk to landscape of flavors and the buses weren't too bad. It was always a nice walk anyway through the courtyard because we got to see all the cars. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone!

We're staying at AoA in August, and as of now I've requested a Nemo suite. But style-wise, I prefer Lion King. That being said, easy access to the pool for the kids, and shorter walks to the food/buses are why I chose Nemo. I've read good things about how quiet the rooms are, but was wondering what other Dis-ers may have experienced. I prefer quiet, and don't particularly care about the view. Any recommendations? I know that requests are not guarantees.

I have asked before but was wondering if maybe I could get some answers from a few different people.

Are the doors on the family suites metal? Do they hold magnets well?

We usually decorate our door when we stay at values and would love to do this at AoA as well. Any help or info is appreciated!

I am pretty sure they are. I know the LM ones were.

Thanks for the reply! I've seen people say the mermaid ones are, but my concern is that since the family suite doors are inside they may be different. Here's hoping they are the same!!

I'd imagine so. They are your standard LCD televisions so I don't see why they wouldn't? We were there last Fall, and I am pretty sure I remember seeing the inputs.

Thank you. I have just stayed in hotels before that had the tvs either made without them or installed a plate over them. My kids will be happy!

If I want to request blog 2 with a courtyard view, when do I make that request?

Call anytime between now and 4-6 days prior to your arrival and add those requests to your reservation.

This may have been asked before but what are the closest Mermaid rooms to the main building? What is the distance? Also wondering how long are the buses to the parks from AoA? Thanks,

Re: the DVD player, I watched a video review of the suites..sorry am forgetting where...and they showed a panel that comes down and gives access to the tv inputs, so I think it's ok!

LM buildings 7 and 9 are closer than building 8. It's approximately .23 of a mile from the center of those building to the main building.

From AoA, here's the approximate bus travel (not wait) times:

HS: 5-7 minutes
EP: 7-10 minutes
AK: 10-15 minutes
MK: 15-20 minutes

Hey everyone!

I've been lurking this thread for a while as we'll be heading to AoA this August with DH, DMom, DD2, DS4 and DS6. We're currently booked for a Nemo room as we really like the theming. I've noticed several discounts for AoA - AAA, GP, AP - but NONE of them have been able to be applied to the Nemo suite. I even called the first day the offer was out (right at 7 AM) for the GP and AP offers. The CM I spoke to said that because the Nemos were close to the main building, there was a greater demand for them, like a priority location, and so there were no discounts available. Anyone out there been able to get a discount on a Nemo suite for this summer? Folks over on the discount thread have said the suites (in general) aren't excluded but at the same time, I haven't been able to find someone who's gotten a discount.:confused3

it's not that the Nemo suites are excluded, it's that all the discounted Nemo rooms are booked up. There's only a certain # of discounts for each section and the Nemo is the most popular so is the first to become booked.

I haven't seen anyone getting a discount on a Nemo suite in the last several months (not saying it never happens...but I think it's rare). We were booked in a Nemo suite since last July (going in June) and we had to switch to Cars (or Lion King...we chose Cars) to get the summer discount. My Disney Travel Agent said that very few rooms in Nemo get discounted (she implied that it is literally less than 5) because those rooms fill up first and those buildings are at or close to capacity even without discounts. She's keeping an eye on things and if she can move us back to Nemo with the discount, she will -- a room or two *could* open up as we get closer to the 45-day mark. She also said it never hurts to ask if there are rooms available in the Nemo buildings once we check in.
