We are going to POP in Aug, and will be checking it out for a possible Dec Surprise! It looks great!

I'm
I know it is difficult to fathom, but WDW does not make him happy. He's willing to deal with it so we can have a vacation with the entire family. He will visit friends during the day, hang out at the pool, workout, and meet up with us when we are available. We will definitely have family time, but there will also be plenty of time when he's on his own. In the unlikely event he changes his mind f

My DH is also not a WDW fan(atic). He likes it ok, but our trip last year was enough to last him a few years. He said he'd like to go back in 5 years. :scared1: :confused3 That being said, I *could* twist his arm to go back sooner; but instead, I decided to do 1:1 trips for just me & the kids, this year and next. This year - ODS; next year - YDD. Then maybe the following year we'll all go back. And the reason I'm posting this on this thread is b/c........... I'm going to book a Little Mermaid room for DD and I next year! I hope they're done in time b/c I'm thinking January.

Hi,

First let me say I wasn't even aware AoA was due to be completed anytime soon before seeing this thread. Ack!

We are looking at a Dec or Jan trip. I am ready to book it soon and just realized staying at this resort could be a possibility. Our kids love the themes of the value resorts.

However I saw a PP that AoA is not included in the free dining offer. It is not offered in those months right now anyway, but I sure am hoping, but if I book AoA it will not apply to me anyway... Is this accurate??

We know that AoA is not available for free dining packages for the current promotion, arrivals Aug 25-Sep 29 2012.

If/when a free dining promotion is released for arrivals Oct-Dec 2012, it's a good guess that AoA won't be available, but I think there's no way to know until (if) that promotion is released.

Oh well, I imagine AoA is going to fill up super fast anyway, with or without free dining. I will most likely book somewhere else and save AoA for next trip. Another excuse to go back in the future!

Mine isn't a big Disney person either, but he is going this time for the kids - and he weaseled out of the last two Dis experiences. After this, if he doesn't want to go, I have no problem going without him...I love Disney and so do the kids and so does my mom!

We haven't done a family vacation at WDW in 5 years. Honestly, I didn't think dh would agree to go back -- but last year we went to Montreal which he loved, me not so much. I think that helped persuade him it was my "turn". I would be happy to go without dh (I do for the Princess race), but ds really wants him around...I know the suite option (with, I think, better amenities than ASMU) definitely helped convince him.

I'm not surprised the agent was incorrect, but I thought it would be kind to put it out there, in case the policy had changed. :flower3:

Another caveat of his agreeing to this vacation -- no TS reservations. I'm afraid free dining just isn't to be for us. He is coming because the WDW visit is part of an overall visit to family in FL, and my ds really wants him along. He does not enjoy the theme parks, but will visit the water parks. I wish a little Nebo-magic could convince him, but he's pretty clear on the subject. We've been several times before, even did a land/sea, and dh just does not appreciate the Mouse.

He and I have been coming once a year since 2008 for marathon weekend, and it's all I can do to get him to go to one Park on post-marathon Monday, every other year or so.

In the unlikely event he changes his mind for a day, we can easily purchase a one day ticket for him. :goodvibes

I'm going to get back to reading the Nebo free dining TR tomorrow. I need to get myself in the mood!

you know, I have often tried to tell non-disney peopel that we could easily enjoy a stay at a disney resort without ever going into the parks.. they are that nice! and we have tacked on a fewnight at CBR.. without parks.. to the front of a vacation.

so it's great that he is going with!! maybe he would enjoy going over to espn or something while you are at the parks.

Smidgy! -- You are a genius!! He loves sports, and he'll watch anything. There is bound to be something going on while we are there he would enjoy -- as long as it's not a cheerleading competition :rotfl2: I'll have to look into it, it would be great for him to spend a day over there. And you are right, the resorts are a great place to just hang out.

People think we're crazy when we say he doesn't like the Parks, but my BIL is the same way -- and my BIL won't even ride any rides :confused3 When I look at it that way, at least when my dh goes in the Parks he will do something :thumbsup2

I agree, I could amuse myself without entering the theme Parks for quite awhile. Pool time, DTD, exploring other resorts, water parks, mini-golf, there are a lot of fun ways to spend your time. :lovestruc

I read online yesterday that the free dining offer does not include family suites, so I am assuming that this is why the current FD offer does not include AoA because it is the family suites opening first. Is that correct?

So, it is possible, if free dining is extended into the fall, the regular rooms would be included hopefully. Yes, no?!

no, AoA has been totally excluded from free dining so far....and many room discounts as well.

I'm guessing the PIN I used for my trip (October, at POP), won't be allowed to be used at AoA for a little mermaid room? Oh well, not like I won't be back ever again! I have a feeling the standard value rooms (little mermaid) won't have any trouble selling without discounts!

I am so confused...how have all of you booked AoA when this disney blog says can't be booked til tomorrow???
what changes tomorrow?
(BTW i called WDW and they WONT let me book AoA for this fall --WDW told me it wont be open til Dec...who should i believe about mermaid open date ? the CM at WDW over phone at WDW INFO or the disney blog?)

I just booked a family suite for AoA in the Cars section for late August.
The family suites have been open for booking for quite some time online anyway. The Little Mermaid rooms aren't showing up yet.
So the March 23rd date for the family suites is wrong.

To be honest I think I'd believe the blog over the call centre but it seems like nobody is getting the info right.

Try tomorrow for the Little Mermaid rooms. It's a possibility.

My family agrees with both of you. We tell people all the time, we can go to Disney and not step foot into a park. They think we're crazy. Maria, as you mentioned, those are the things we do, too. I'll be going down for the TOT run and thought momentarialy about swithing to AoA. The thought vanished quickly, as AoA is not a host resort. And the few extra dollars over a few days adds up. My sister and I are trying to get there, as cheap as possible.
