Disney's Art of Animation Resort hotel

Why not just revamp all-star movies, then, if the decor and theming feels outdated? The all-stars have felt tired for a *while*.
I feel like AOA is such a waste. The turn of the last century has always been fascinating to me and I was so exicted for the rest of the resort to be finished. Oh well. I suppose I'm in the minority, here. :sad2:

I guess I'm in the minority, too!

While I'm very happy that the project is being finished, I would have much rather seen what Disney would have done with the '10s, '20s, '30s and '40s.

And truthfully I just don't think I'm all that interested in seeing a rooms that are themed to Cars. (Although I don't mind the Lion King and the Little Mermaid).

Sigh! The main thing is that the project is being completed, and we won't need to see those half-finished buildings across the lake from Pop any longer.

Very true. It's better than looking at shells of what would have been!

We love pop. So I'm not sure how I feel about AOA. I guess my kids will love it. I'm glad they are making more suites. We tried to get ASMU suite for FD this week but they are gone already. We are only 4 but would love the extra space. But I do see us using the fridge and that is about it.

So if Fd is offed for 2012 I think we will try to book AOA in a suite even though we only need a regular room. Another bouns for us is beacuse it is a value we would get the QSDP which we prefer. That is one of the reason we stay value during FD instead of Moderate.

I seriously hope it will NOT share buses with Pop Century. That would cut down on a lot of incentive for me to stay there or at Pop. I usually select Pop for non-DVC stays, but the Allstars don't share buses all the time, so if Pop and Animation are going to be a bus share, it may be time to change.

From what I've heard, AoA will have it's own bus system. Those resorts are twice the size of the All Stars so it doesn't make sense for them to share buses.

We wanted to save our next trip until 2012 to stay here. Because I said we would start going every other year to WDW, so as to travel to other places. But since we were too late to get our nice Grand Canyon hotel we decided to go to Disney. Now I will have to wait until 2013 to stay.

Do people actually plan this far ahead.

We are going in 2013 for the MVMCP. My husband really wants to stay at the Wilderness Lodge, but I do think this resort will be so cute and if we have to stay in the Little Mermaid section I guess that would be ok. I did like that movie:)

I guess I am one of those people that plan really far ahead:goodvibes

Maybe during slow times mid day, but i can't see how it would work during mornings or evenings. The Pop buses are always jammed full as it is.

We should start a thread, because after our upcoming trip in September, we are not going again until 2013. :sad2:

I guess I don't see the shared bus thing either. They will have to stap people on to the top of the bus. Maybe during the day it would work but morning and nights no way.

We should start a thread. I think there are a couple of us that will be going again in 2013 from the September boards. Are you going to go in December or stick with the same time frame? I really want to see the Christmas party. :santa:
Just noticed you were from upstate NY. Anywhere near Syracuse?

Interesting thread.... We are hoping to stay here in fall 2012; being A POP family it will be a nice change!

I have wondered about the bus system at POP and AOA myself. I think it is fesible that the two may share buses during slower times given the amount of rooms in each, when you compare that to the 3 values that do share buses some of the time. Granted there are less suites at the AllStar Resorts which will account for fewer guests but POP and AOA also have 580 total fewer rooms

ASSports 1920 POP 2880
ASMusic 1920
(192 suites)
ASMovies 1604 AOA 1984
(864 reg room & 1120 suites
Total 5444 vs Total 4864

That's my biggest question right now and one that will likely have an effect on whether or not we stay there... I'm more willing to accept value level amenities when the buses aren't shared, because I couldn't believe how much I liked that about Pop.

To take your numbers a step further, with every room at capacity the All Stars can hold 22,160 registered guests. Pop and AoA combine for a total capacity of 21,696. So it seems like shared buses would be a likely possibility, at least during slower seasons and slower parts of the day.

I wish they would put in a hot tub :goodvibes. I like the disney fun of the values and the idea of a family suite is great, but I would miss the relaxation and muscle healing power of the hot tub!

I already have spreadsheets going for our 2012 trip. Yeah, some of us plan that far ahead, you aren't alone! :)

::yes:: I already know the dates of my 2012 trip, where I want to stay, room type, ticket type, even the restaurants where I want to eat. :rotfl: I can't wait until August when I can finally book!

IMO, Mighty Ducks is a classic. I grew up with those movies. It would've fit in better with AS Sports, I agree with you there, but considering it spun two sequels, I don't think it can really be dubbed as 'forgettable.' The first MD is one of my favorite movies. Joshua Jackson will never be Pacey to me; always Charlie Conway!

I guess it's just a difference of opinion. Growing up, I loved the Mighty Ducks, The Sandlot, Little Giants (though this was not a Disney film) and find it hard to believe people don't know what they are.

This sounds exactly like my family. You could have been talking about us. LOL. :rotfl2:

Don't get me wrong. We LOVE all of the Disney classics, but we love the ones mentioned above. We can't wait to stay here and hope it's open next June!!

Yay! Someone on this thread who has heard of these movies! :rotfl:

I didn't read this whole thread so I'm sorry if this has already been asked. Does anyone know if you'll be able to book a specific themed building or will it be luck of the draw?
