Disney's Art of Animation Resort hotel

i'm excited to stay here some day as we only stay in suites when we vacation so this gives us additional options. And I LOVE the idea of the themed buildings -- love, love, love it. I was one who always thought most WDW resorts weren't Disney-fied enough for me. However the more I think about it, the more I am kind of disappointed in the movies they chose to feature. I wish they had chosen the classics for this first heavily themed resort. Then they could have moved on to more modern movies in future resorts. As a huge Disney-movie nut, I don't get the warm fuzzies about ANY of these 4 movies. None of them make my Top 20 Disney movie list. I'm not a big Pixar fan. they're good, but they're not "Disney" to me. I would be ecstatic if they instead had featured say, Snow White, Pinocchio, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Dumbo, Bambi..... Anyways, I still look forward to staying here. My kids will love it of course, as they would love any Disney resort, but none of the 4 movies are their favorites either. I just can't help think about how awesome it would have been if it was all classics.

I fell in LOVE with this resort.....and then I checked the prices and knew immediately there was no way I'd get to stay there. :(

So unless there is an amazing coupon that comes out we will be staying at Pop.

10 days, 11 nights at POP (with 8 day park hoppers) $2654

10 days, 11 nights at AOA (with 8 day park hoppers) and I got $4536

Yes I realise that it's a 'suite' but wow....that's like $2000 difference. I priced out rooms (yes again I know AOA are suites) at CSR, CBR, POR and all came in around $3600 using the same information.

I really would like to stay there....so here is hoping Disney blesses us with a PIN via e-mail or our vacation planning DVD!

*keeping in mind the reason I can't afford the $2000 difference is because I still have to pay for flights which are going to cost anywhere from $3000-4000. No such thing as a cheap flight from Winnipeg. lol*

Exactly why I book at cr
To stay with 5 people it was 1800 with Discount code wher aoa was 2200
Add in the differences like food, transportation, pool slide there just isn't any reason to think about a value resort

So you have a discount at CR but not AoA? Or are you just comparing a discounted deluxe rate to a rack rate AoA to make a point? I don't understand how it's possible.

When I compared prices at AoA to Poly for the dates I'm considering (value season 1), AoA was significantly cheaper. When I compare AoA suites to CR Garden wing standard view, AoA is still $65/night cheaper (rack rate obviously). If we're to assume room discounts will be available at a generous 30%value, 35%moderate, 40%deluxe then AoA would be $175 and CR GW SV would be $190. Not a big difference in price but huge difference in the room. For us, we're just not fans of CR so we'd be looking back to Poly which adds a lot of extra cost. For people who do like CR and are happy in GW rooms, it really isn't a lot more to stay at CR. It's certainly not cheaper though to stay at CR. Also, at CR you'd have to add any extra adult fee if any of those 5 people are 18 or older while in the AoA suites I don't believe there's an extra adult fee. I just don't see how AoA comes out to more than CR.

The difference between staying CR vs AoA is that at AoA you're in 2 separate rooms with 2 TVs, 2 bathrooms and a kitchenette including a microwave and you have a lot more floor space. We're huge Poly fans but it's a very different experience having 2 rooms. Plus, at values you get a huge food court. It's just a different experience and you have to look at what you want to get out of the vacation.

I just booked a Cars suite for the beginning of Value 2 next August - with 4 kids, this was the best option out of any of the resorts. I can't wait to see more pictures as they complete construction.

I just emailed my AAA lady and requested Nemo suite. I will not tell the girls that we are staying there, in fact, they won't know until the luggage tags go on their bags:) I can't wait to see their faces:) This is exciting:)

We booked specifically for the cars suite. My next choice would be nemo although the kids would love lion king as well since we just saw the theater production a few months ago.

My kids have not seen bambi or dumbo yet and I don't think those themes would appeal to them as much at all.

It may not be Dumbo or Bambi but I think Lion King and Little Mermaid are classics in their own right. The Lion King is one of my favorite movies of all time (and yes I plan to see the 3D re-release). Plus, I think they were trying to pick movies that kids would be more familiar with.

I agree. My kids haven't seen Dumbo or Bambi or alot of the "classics". I LOVE Little Mermaid and Lion King and I would say they are classics. I am happy that it's not all just the typical "girl" Disney stuff and that the AOA has something for everyone.

see my kids are the opposite -- they never, ever watch Cars or Nemo or Lion King, they always pick the classics to watch (the classic classics, not the new classics, lol). I don't think any of us even got through Cars entirely, we shut it off halfway through and they never asked to watch it again. :confused3 Lion King, Nemo and Little Mermaid they've watched exactly ONCE each (before our trip when I forced them to watch every single Disney movie, lol. :rotfl:) But Bambi, Snow White, Peter Pan, Cinderella, etc. -- those have all been watched so many times in our house, I'm talking like 50+ times each!

Just changed our reservation for September 2012 from POFQ to Art of Animation! I am excited! I have not taken the time to read the entire thread but found a link with some of the room designs tonight and they look fantastic!

I cannot wait to stay at this resort! I am undecided though in which part I would like to stay. I love the little mermaid, lion king, and finding nemo. I am not too crazy about cars, but my boyfriend is so I have no clue which we would consider. But we have plenty of time to decide :cutie:. I think we would most likely go with either finding nemo, or the lion king, because we both love them. :)

:cool1::yay:
I just cancelled our ressie at POR for the Nemo themed family suite. I am so excited to stay here! I know my DD will LOVE it.
