Disney's Art of Animation Resort hotel

We are thinking about staying at the Little Mermaid next year. I've only stayed at Moderate resorts so I'm used to having more than one bus stop and not a long way to walk. Does anyone know about how long the walk is from Little Mermaid to the bus stop? Its not bad walking to the bus stop but coming back from an all day park is pretty tiring :)

From the map it looks to be a bit of a hike.

I know that's why I was hoping maybe someone who has been there recently could kind of guess how far it is. I guess I got spoiled :)

I'm with dansdad, it looks like quite a hike, especially at the end of the day. I don't remember noticing though when we used the buses there earlier this month.

People have posted in this thread that it's about a 5 min. walk.

Does anyone know who has already been to the AoA what is the earliest you can check in? I know on the site it says 3. But has anyone checked in earlier?:confused3
I would be interested to know too, since I'm doing a one night only room reservation before switching to a package deal, and I want to check-in for that ASAP to get my park tickets and dining credits. I would love to be at the park for rope drop my first morning.

I won't be there until LM opening day (YAY!!!), but if you look it up on Google Earth, the distance from the center of LM to the center of Animation Hall is exactly 1/4 mile.

Even thought it looks relatively far because it's the furthest away on the map, I really think it will be a 5-7 minute walk at the most. Whether that's long or short you can judge. I'm also making a guess based on what it's like to walk around Pop Century, which has the same basic size and compact layout.

Admittedly if/when I stay in LM I would put in a request for buildings 7 or 9 to be a little closer.

5-7 minutes isn't bad at all. Some peope were saying it's like a 20 minute walk.

Here's one more http://**************.net/2012/06/17/review-family-suites-at-disneys-art-of-animation-resort-continued/review of AoA. This one has more details than I've seen previously, such as measuring the mattresses, opening up the sofa bed, and opening the drawers to show pillows housed there.

I am super excited and kinda nervous! I really hope that Pop and Animation will maintain seperate busses. I also wonder if there will be a bridge to link the two resorts or will they be seperate.

We just spent a week at POP and the buses run separate from A of A. We walked over and took a peek at things as well. We may steer next year in one of the family suites.

I'm getting so anxious to book, if only 2013 rates would come out! I'm contemplating booking room only, but don't know if that is the best option. I'm worried that our ADR booking time will come and we won't have even be booked for our trip!

Does anyone know if bed rails are available? When we go, it will be DD's first time sleeping in a bed and I'm hoping these are available.

Also, I have never rented a car when going to Disney, always taken the Disney transportation, but now taking a toddler I'm wondering if that is the best choice? Opinions?

Thanks to everyone for all the great reviews and pictures. It gets me so excited to go!

MEMOM-
Awsome pictures, ...........it looks rather deserted, almost abandoned!
kinda nice in a way. Did the small crowds make it better for your stay, or would you have liked more people. I'm staying in December and I'm afraid it will be jammed!!:scared1:
Is the pool fantastic?

You can still make ADRs even without having a resort booking. You won't have the resort guest advantage of booking ADRs for up to 10 days of your planned trip, but you can still do it.

My opinion is using Disney transportation with a toddler is just fine. Advice would be to have a compact folding stroller like a Chicco C6 rather than a bigger full-size stroller.

MeMom, thank you so much for sharing those great pictures!! Though I am not staying at AoA, but am at POP, I'm still excited to stroll across the bridge and check out the ground and their food court. :)

We did that 3 weeks ago, it was really nice, that's why we're staying there in August.

Thanks David! What an excellent, detailed review.

Do you happen to have any idea about how long it takes to get from AoA to different locations? For example, we have an 8:30am ADR at Kona. Any idea when we would need to leave and how we would need to get there? I believe buses don't go from resort to resort but don't know what the best option would be. TTC? DTD? One of the parks? Thanks!

We're a family of six with three large teenage boys and one teenage daughter-would love to stay here-but not sure if three beds will work for our group-do the fold out beds really sleep two adults?

We have an 8:05am ADR for Kona, and we plan to go to MK and take the monorail to the Poly from there.
