....on the bridge when you come out the door where the restaurants are and walk to your right....those windows on the left of the water are the windows for Jiko. On the other side of that 'stick' fence is the entrance to the 1st floor (go left to Jiko and go right to Boma)!!

Hi. Where can i find floor plans for the suites at AKL? I can;t get the search to work!

Hi, had to post, curiosity is getting the better of us! Planning a trip for Oct (booked at POFQ) but after the Travel Channel's view of Disney, my momm is interested in AKL (they're FL residents!)

Question about the bus transportation came up - where are the buses located to board from the parks to AKL? I've read that the bus service is great, since its just this resort... but since its the last resort built, does that mean it has a last place wait at the parks (like at MGM, or Epcot)?

Found a link for floor plans here>>

HI all , I am new to the boards but not WDW, we are staying in AKL in July for the first time and in a standard room I was wondering if we should request a certain area/room. we have heard about the possibility of Upgrads , like to savana view etc... so i was wondering if we ask for a certain room or area in standard would this decrease our chance of an upgrade to sanvana
thanks for any help :cool1:

I have a ? similar to the last post.

We're booked for a std. room (budget) at AKL for 11/29-12/6. Since this is a slow time of year, what do you think the chances are of being upgraded to a savannah or pool view? How many people have had this happen to them?

BTW, I'm so excited about this. I haven't been to WDW in 14 years, wife in 16 years (and she's only been to MK), kids have never been, & haven't stayed onsite since 1976 trip w/ parents to CR. Was going to go for WL, but DD & DS said they'd like AKL more, so here we come!

Where exactly are the 6th floor concierge rooms located? I didn't see it on the resort map posted on All ears. I was concerned about the walk to the lounge if the room was at the end of the Zebra Trail or something. Any feedback about views etc. from the 6th floor?

The sixth floor rooms do not look out onto the savanna. Most are pool view, with a few looking out over the front of the resort. If you request AKL CL smoking, you'll be on the sixth floor. The fifth floor is entirely non-smoking, including the balconies.

On the 6th floor there are room overlooking the pool or the Sunset Savanna. They are located off the lobby and would be very convient to the lounge. If you look on the map at the blue squares you will see som 6XXX numbers. I believe some of the pool view rooms may be smoking (not really sure about this). Others have posted that they like the view from the 5th floor savanna rooms better thatn the 6th floor sunset savanna view. They indicated that the roof of the hotel extends out below the balcony detracting from the view.

A question about the fifth floor rooms......I understand that not all of the 5th floor rooms are concierge. If staying concierge, is it better to be on the 5th floor because the rooms are centrally located and you do not have such a long walk as you would from the far ends of the 6th floor.

I'm in the process of planning a trip for 2006. My older sister HAS NEVER BEEN to WDW or anywhere for that matter. She has been married to the same man for 30 years and he doesn't believe in taking vacations and spending money foolishly. LOL!!! Then there's me. I love my vacations, especially WDW and usually go concierge. I will be spending the majority of this vacation at YC CL and am reserving two rooms. Taking both my two sisters, two nieces, and my two sons and leaving husbands at home. I was thinking of really finishing up the vacation (will be about two weeks) with a couple of days at AKL to do the sunrise safari and thought why not go all out and book the Asante Suite. Does anyone have any insights about location and such. I've seen some pictures on other sites but would really like some first hand opinions and observations.

Can anyone please tell me what are the nearest grocery and liquor stores to AKL?

Well I booked the RAS yesterday for three nights. I e-mailed Andrea in IPO and she told me the suite is located on the 5th floor. Can anyone tell me where the concierge lounge is. I know it's located on the 6th floor but is it on the right hand side of the lobby or the left? I can't tell from any maps that I've seen.

BTW, I just finished reading all 55 pages of this thread! I feel like I've been run over by a truck! LOL!

I'm so happy you were able to book the suite! Are you sure you might not be my long lost cousin who is dying to see me at AKL? LOL You're going to have a wonderful time! Both suites are in the middle of the lodge on both sides of the main windows. To get to the concierge lounge you'll traverse the hallway that goes along the lobby until you get to the front elevator. That elevator *at lobby level it is at Zawadi marketplace* is the only one to take you to the sixth floor. The concierge lounge is above the lobby. If you were to walk into the lodge 20 feet, turn around and face the doors and look up you'd see it. No, it doesn't have a view of the savannah, but it has a gorgeous view of the lobby and you really feel calm and comfortable up there.

Congrats on the booking!
Debbie

YDFAN , The concierge lounge is indeed located on the 6th floor. If you look at your map of AKL it is at the far end away from the arusha rock. If you are standing in the center of the concierge lounge you can look out across the entire lobby and out the windows to arusha rock and the savannah's.

The resort is so beautiful. I am sure you will have a super great time. Everyone at the resort is so friendly and does everything they can to make your stay even more pleasent. :flower:

When are you going? We will be there in November for Thanksgiving and the week after. :cool1: I can't wait!

I hope this help answer your question. If I can help you with any other questions just let me know :wave2:
