Been away for a long, long time it seems. How is everyone? I have not had time to read, but I did notice that Kim is back from her AKL trip already ! I can't believe I've been absent that long! I hope to get on tonight and read about what has been going on here with all my long lost friends!

Yea, lots been going on here, that's for sure! One thing after another, and it hasn't slowed down yet. But my DS just informed me that for his graduation gift (in 2 years) he wants to go back to AKL! Can you imagine? My parents gave me a small party at my uncles bar, and 2 of my friends were invited, and this kid wants a trip to The World just for graduating high school! WHAT A GOOD EXCUSE TO PLAN A TRIP SAYS I! And in talking to the rest of the fam, they want to go back to AKL also. My poor WL has been shunned by the whole lot of them! But I must say, I did enjoy AKL much more this past trip. Kim, do you have a trip report up? Can you at least tell me what you thought of this lodge? Hope you had fun!

Thanks, everyone! You've sold us on AKL. I booked a savanah room for $220 a night 4/30-5/7 with ap discounts that were just released. I'm so excited, but very sleepy. Had to wake up at 3:57 am pacific time to call cro. Then when I got the rate, I was too excited to sleep!

Hey Y'all,
I've been trying to get answers about AKL Pool View all day, and then suddenly you appear. We will be staying there for the first time April 29th and 30th. Is there a lot of noise from the pool that carries to the pool view rooms? Which pool view building/room should we request? Where are the smoking rooms? We want to be far from them.
Thanks in advance for any info.

I have a savanah view room booked and requested bunk beds. My question is, should I also request a certain section of the savanah, or just take what they put us in? Is there a bad savanah view?
How about bus service? Do the buses get very crowded? What time does the first bus leave to the parks in the morning?

No savannah views are bad! Since the building is curved and the animals roam, any location at any given point is going to be awesome! We found the buses to be abundant and seldom crowded. Of course, we came and left the parks at non-peak hours, so I suppose that ANY bus going to ANY resort would be crowded if, say, at closing time. We never made it too early to any of the parks, so I'm not sure how early they begin running, I believe, at least an hour???!??!

Stitch Inside ~ the pool view rooms won't be too noisy. There is alot of foliage around, which sorta drowns out the sound. I suggest requesting a higher floor....

We had a smoking room and we were pretty far down on the Zebra Trail. It was funny because until you crossed over the threshold into the smoking hallway, you couldn't smell smoke at all.

I don't know where the smoking rooms are; Giraffe Trail is on you IMMEDIATE right when you walk into the lobby. You must go to the end of the lobby THEN go right to get to the Zebra Trail. We were on the 5th floor of Zebra Trail (5th room down), but we were overlooking Arusha Rock...

Kimmar, can't wait to see more pictures. DS has an autistic spectrum disorder and your pictures will help us to get him used to the hotel before we arrive. He is an animal fanatic. He is going to be on cloud 9 with the savanah view!
