Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

lustergirl, are you still doing better?
hang in there and you will soon be doing laps around the parks with that new knee.

Hey Mac. I am doing well, thanks. 5 weeks today post op. I started outpatient therapy last week. I drove for the first time this past Saturday. That felt good to get my freedom somewhat back. I guess I have to go back to work sometime. ugghhh.

:drinking:
Hey Lustergirl. I am out of Buffalo also. I know what you mean about Southwest, I love them and only use them. This is my DH and I's first time at AS Sports. Can wait to try it we usually stay at a Mod. CSR. Any recommendations at the food court. I already checked out to make sure there was a bar at the pool. Cannot go without my frozen Mango margaritas. :drinking:Next year we hope to be able to go as a whole family. Both DS and DD families which include 4 grandchildren. As much as I love going with my DH on our just us trips. I always love watching the little ones reactions to everything.

I love the margaritas as well. CSR is a beautiful resort, we have stayed their twice. I can't wait to take my grandson.

We're going to be arriving around 7:00 pm or so at AS Sports. Would you recommend eating at the on-site cafeteria, or is there somewhere else nearby to go for dinner? Probably don't want to make any long trips as I'm sure we will be tired from the travel.

Personally if I got there at that time I would just eat at the food court. We got there around that time on our trip 2 years ago and ended up just ordering a pizza to share, getting our mugs and having a relaxed night at the resort.

You can stop by the McDonald's that is right on the corner as you enter the All Stars. We like to walk there from all star sports for meals when we tire of the food court food. Especially for breakfast as we are early risers and the McDonald's is open 24hrs.

One week until I do our online check in! Super exciting as time seems to fly for me once I do that and FPs :yay:

last time i was there, only the drive thu was open at a certain hour.
they closed the inside seating area and counter was closed for ordering inside.

has that changed since last fall?

i know the drive thru was opened but i did not have a car and they would not take my order as a walk up to that window.

The earliest DH went was 4:00am (usually 4:30-5:00am) and went inside to order. DS wanted fries one morning (he was on vacation) and DH said he was told we would have to be there by 3:00am to get fries still. So I assume they would take the order still I don't see why a car would matter if they are open. Usually they do drive thru only in the late hours for security reasons. Maybe someone else has a recent early morning / late night order experience. :confused3

Thanks for the feedback. On a separate topic, does anyone actually play sports at the Sports resort? I know there is a field or two, does anyone actually use them? My kids keep bringing it up.

Lots of people playing football (throwing balls around too) on the football field when we were there.

when i am there, always some one is playing on the middle section.

quiet time is listed and if it gets loud, call the front desk and someone will come over to have the games stop in that middle section/ football field.

We will arrive for our second stay at Sports this September!
We are using DME and our flight lands at 8:35 am. I don't want to utilize on line check in because I don't want to miss out on the magic of checking in at the resort desk.

I am wondering though how many requests I can have our t.a. add to our room? I don't remember what the options or limits are when doing online check in.

I did really like our room last time. It was in the football building near the parking lot. We always use resort buses but it was just a quick walk through the parking lot sidewalk to get there.

We are booked in a standard. I'm not too concerned with how early are room will be ready although it wouldn't be awful if it was ready when we arrive. We will be going to at least Epcot that day.

Thoughts, suggestions, tips?

And also the "Tennis Court" is popular for playing around on(UNLESS Cheerleaders are "in the house"-they practice a lot on both the Football Field and "Tennis Court".

Booked Sports for my girls (9 months and 2 1/2!) first trip in Sept (4th - 10th!)
Haven't been since 2012 where I think we stayed here back when!!
excited!!

My sister, 1 year old nephew and I will be staying here Oct 17-23! Have stayed at Pop, All Star Movies and Art of Animation but never sports, it looks really fun!

The tax is 13% at sports as it is a different county

I do a grocery stop for case of water and snacks before I get to Sports

I only buy in the sports store if I forgot something prior to the stay there

I will buy treats/chocolate etc when I leave the park at night and retiring to sports

In the food court the refrigerator section has yogurt, fruit, salads, desserts, sandwiches, etc
Decent food for what I have tried there
Average Disney prices
