Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

Here now, working refrigerator.

What building are you in? Someone in Toy Story said they had a working fridge. Hoping they are moving along at a rapid pace as we are leaving in a little over 2 weeks and hoping for a working fridge.

In regard to the Coffee pots they read Jofferys when I was there Aug 11-16. I really liked the dalmation section , which is preferred.

Finally got rid of the crappy coffee. Looking forward to having decent coffee in the morning after all the years of the crappy stuff.

What is the difference between a standard room and a "preferred" room?

This was answered above, but my take on the same answer -- the rooms are the same, but it's the building location within ASMo that is different. Standard rooms are located in the Mighty Ducks and Love Bug sections. Preferred rooms are located in the Toy Story, Fantasia, and 101 Dalmatians sections.

I stayed in Mighty Ducks and it's only steps away from the 101 Dalmatians buildings, plus you have a quick walk over to the All-Star Music buses and food court too. It's actually closer than the Movies main building.

I was wondering if they switched the coffee from Nescrape' to Joffreys?

During my stay in July there was Joffrey's, and plenty of it! :goodvibes

OK I need to ask, what does this mean specifically. Do you have to request a certain section to get the better located room or do they do it automatically?

Preferred/standard location is based on your room reservation -- a preferred room costs extra. Within your reservation you can make a request for a certain building, say Mighty Ducks or Love Bug for standard or Toy Story, Fantasia, or 101 Dalmatians for preferred.

But you can't book standard and then request Toy Story, which is a preferred building. It doesn't mean you can't be upgraded there or that Disney might assign you to a preferred room, but you should expect them to assign your room based on what you paid for.

Wondering if ASMu and ASMo food courts will be refurbished next year. The ASSp food court is being rehabbed now, and it is taking 4 months. Anyone know if the other All Stars food courts are newer than ASSp and therefore not in need of rehab? Or do you think they'll be done in succession?:)

We have an 8:10am reservation at 'Ohana in October. What is the best way to get to the Poly from the All-Stars? From what I've seen on the transportation maps, it looks like the best option might be to take the bus to MK, then the resort monorail to the Poly. Also, what time do the buses / monorail begin operating in the AM?

Thanks.

Your idea is what I would do to get from an All-Star to the Poly. I want to say buses begin as early as 6:30am.

but they wont be storing them they will be disposing them...so why not clear out some more space for guests to use?

I wonder about this also. Sports is the oldest with Music next and then Movies. I plan on booking bounceback when we are there and I think I will be ok at Movies. Trying to remember how many years between when each was built. We stayed at Sports every year after it was built until Music was built and then we stayed there and then at Movies when that was built. I'm think that Sports is at least 20 years old. I don't know exactly where to find the info.

From allears.net:

ASMO~Reservations began being accepted in January 1998. The Mighty Ducks and 101 Dalmatians opened January 15, 1999, Fantasia and Herbie: The Love Bug opened in March, and the final section, Toy Story, opened in April 1999.

Disney's All Star Sports Resort was the first value resort built on the WDW property and opened May 1994.

You are correct this is the best way to get there. This how we did it last yr.

We are staying in a standard room, we are driving, and have a toddler so we will be using a stroller every day. We also plan to eat breakfast in the food court most days. Just wondering if there is a building or section we should ask for when we check in? Not doing online check-in because our My Disney Experience page is incorrect, and I really don't want to link it to our reservation.

I think only Herbie Love Bug and Mighty Ducks are standard sections. We stayed one night in Herbie and didn't mind the walk . Mighty Ducks seems to be just about the same distance as Herbie to me but idk there is a pool in mighty ducks . It didn't seem to far a walk from Herbie and we were in the back building to the main pool to me .

We just booked ASMo for a spur of the moment trip at Thanksgiving.

Tell me what you love about the resort! I don't know much about it!

It is a really cute resort. It is small so not a lot of walking to and from the food court and buses. We usually request to stay in the Mighty Ducks section so we can use the Music buses and/or food court if we want.
