Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

Thanks for the video! very reassuring. DD wants to stay in the Dalmation building...Anyone ever stayed there? :)

We stayed there last September and it was really nice and convenient to everything. I'd request it in a heartbeat!

That's Awesome! I saw the Fantasia room it is awesome! That's why we will take the Preferred room with Fantasia theme! Oh! One more thing does Donald's double Feature in ASMO sell DVD's and CD's :confused3

We're staying ASMo in Jan. and I'm so excited! I'm just crossing my fingers it won't be filled with loud sports teams while we are there. We've stayed at CBR and loved it but we are on a budget for this trip plus I think my kids will get a kick out of the theming. I'd love to hear some reviews from people that have been there recently.

Me too! This trip will be my first experience staying at an All-Star resort. I think I'd like to stay in either the Dalmatians or Herbie wings... and I *hope* no sports groups will be there. I've heard nothing but horror stories about cheerleaders! :scared1:

So how far away is everyones ASmo vacation???

We are less than 6m out from ours!!!

6 months, 4 weeks and 2 days!!!!! :cool1:

Does anyone know what the gymnastics event is that will be going on in January? Someone mentioned something about it and now I'm worried!! We were hoping for a quieter visit.:scared1:

Hello everyone!

I'm just popping in to say that I just booked our first stay at ASMo for this coming November. I'm a little nervous, since we've traditionally stayed at moderates. But this time we're on more of a budget, since I'm taking my mom. The resort looks very well themed, and we're looking forward to experiencing a new adventure.

I'll be peaking in this thread over the course of the next few months. Please keep the valuable info coming.

We are going to Disney is November. We are staying at the ASMo for 3 nights before meeting up with the rest of the family on Sunday at the Port Orleans for the rest of or vacation.

My question is, we are a family of 5 - me, my husband and my triplet 2yr olds. I was planning on one child in a bed with one adult and bringing an air mattress for the third child to sleep on. In your opinion, do you think that is going to work with the room size and set up of the rooms?

Thanks!
Amy

It'll probably work, but it will be really tight. Might depend on the size of your air mattress...

If it's a kid sized mattress then it will probably fit between the beds, or at least at the foot of one. :thumbsup2

When we stayed in April, we had DS2 with Dad in one bed & DD2 with Mom in the other bed. DS9 had a twin air mattress on the floor. We just moved the table over and it fit fine and we didn't even pick it up during the day.

One thing is that we pushed one of the beds against the wall since DS2 is such a "busy sleeper" but mousekeeping would not make the bed when it was pushed over. After 2 days, we moved the bed back and then mousekeeping did make the bed. Weird?:confused3
Congrats on taking the triplets. We went when we did so that we could get the trip in before the twins turned 3 and we saved a bunch of money!:cool1:

Have fun!!!

We just got back and used a twin air mattress for our 2 year old granddaughter. It worked just fine. Plenty of room.

Thought that I would review our trip. We just got back and we had a wonderful time. It was very hot, but hey... It's Florida. We were there from June 15 to 23. Here are my observations.
1. Resort - Great place. We requested by fax, the Toy Story, Woody Bldg. We got it. We faced the wooded area. It was very quiet, we had no problems. We were in a preferred room, it was close enough to public areas and buses, but was far enough away from noise. Great Building. Our rooms were fine. They did need to be refurbished, but were certainly not shabby. New furniture and TV's would be nice. The beds were very comfortable. The rooms were very clean. I had no complaints.

2. Public Areas - The dining hall was always clean and rarely crowded. Even in the mornings the lines were not long. The cashiers were fast and helpful. We had the dinng plan and they help us figure it all out.
The pool was warm and not usually too crowded. It was well guarded until 11 pm. It was to close at midnight. People were always in it after midnight, but they did not seem too noisy. This could be problematic if you are staying in a Fantasia Bldg.

3. Staff - Mousekeeping was great. Check in and out was easy and quick. We were supposed to have a refrig. for meds. in our room. It was not there on check in, but I called and it was delivered within an hour.
We had packages delivered to the gift shop from the parks. That worked well also.

4. Buses - Not many problems. Never had to wait more than 5 minutes. the only bus we shared was with the water park. We had to stand a couple of times. Not really any complaints.

5. No cheerleaders or sports teams.

6. We stayed at All Star Sports one night. We did not like it at all. There were many, many, many unsupervised children and teenagers. Very, very noisy and unruly. Pools were extremely crowded. The rooms were brighter and with newer furniture. Larger TV's. I would have been uncomfortable staying there with my young grandchildren any longer.

7. All in All, we had a wonderful time. For those who are apprehensive about staying at the Movies..... don't be.....we had a great time....you will too.

Thank you the trip report. We are going in August and thought this would be the best place for our young children and you confirmed our thoughts!

Quick question: what floor were you on?

zdurfee, thank you for the trip report. That definitely helped settle my apprehensions about our first stay at ASMo this November.
