Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

Hey all,

It's been a minute since I stayed at Movies. It looks like they did the same redesign as POP. Does this mean they now have the coffee pot and mini fridge?

thanks!

Is there a limit on how long they will hold your bags? I’m doing a solo where on my last day I’ll be taking a break from MK to go get my rental car before the car rental place closes- but then I plan to go right back to MK or park hop. My plan is to drive back to movies to get my luggage before then driving to St. Petersburg’s (yes I know that’s a long drive late at night..) maybe it would be better to go get my luggage after I get the car..

I actually stored my luggage for 8 days when I used Disney to Bookend a trip to Europe LOL. No problem. They said that they will hold them as long as needed and I believe they just put a note on my tags that said when my return checkin day was. Although that was at French Quarter.

I have also left my luggage for a whole day during resort shifts or early check out/late flight.

I have been told that the Allstars is a different service provider than some of the other resorts so it could be different, but I doubt it. They are pretty accommodating.

Anyone know if the outdoor movie happens in the rain? We arrive next Saturday afternoon and it looks like rain for the next week. Our other option would be the pool but that would probably also close? We are coming from Arizona so my kids are not going to be tired on arrival and I don't know what to do with them in the afteroon/evening if there is rain.

Arrival days are good days to hang at Disney Springs (lots of shops, though you will have to walk between them in the rain).

Go visit some some of the big resorts like Grand Floridian, Wildeness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge. Lots to look at and many have music, activities or just ambiance, that is open to anyone.

Just got back from a stay at ASMovies, and here’s some general impressions:

Bus service was great. We used it for HS, BB, and DS, so I can’t comment on anything other than those, but it was better than I experienced back in October at CS.

Room remodel gives plenty of storage. Really impressive! But when the bed is down, it is tight on there. We had four people, so it was a bit close. Bed on pull down was comfortable and TV was awesome.

food court selection was limited and seems to be identical across all values, but it was never too crowded and mobile ordering is so efficient. Drinks are self serve but a CM directs the flow to the refill station.

pools were nice and my kids got a lot of use out of both the main pool and duck pond. It was never crowded or loud. Just families with kids having fun.

Until last night. Bus loads of graduating seniors arrived. They were all staying in the Mighty Ducks area and the guys were ridiculously rowdy. At first it was understandable celebrating, but as the evening went on it got more and more unacceptable. I would not have felt safe taking my kids over there. I had to take stuff out to my car and I couldn’t believe how loud it got. I did see security head over about 10:15. On the plus side, we couldn’t hear anything in our room, and we were right next door in Dalmatians. Those rooms are soundproof!

there were other groups earlier in the week, but nothing like what came last night.

mother than the groups, it was a nice, pleasant stay. I haven’t been to ASMovies in 20 years. I can’t say I’m ready to return after the experience last night, but the first part of the week was nice.

Awesome "on the ground" report!

Is Calypso Pool still open for Movies Guests?

Thanks.

No. I was looking for signs this week, but I never saw any. So I asked a cast member. She said it was only open last month because of the cheerleaders that were there. They used the Calypso pool for overflow during that time.

The funny thing is that NONE of the Cheerleaders(and no one else either really) went over to Calypso when we were there!lol

I think if they had "dedicated' Calypso TO the Cheerleaders and told them it was "their" Pool they ALL would have went over there.

Hey all !! Checked the Garden Grocer website, and looks like status quo, as far as their side, but does anyone know if you can still order from them? And will the resort deliver to the room? I seem to remember, even pre-Covid, they were no longer delivering to the room-- they had the packages in storage, and we just picked them up, which is totally fine-- just not sure if they still ship to the resorts, if anyone knows?

On another note--- are the arcades still closed ? TIA !!!!

Here right now. Arcade is closed

We just wrapped up our stay at Movies. We had a great time!

The rooms were nice. They are pretty much identical to the rooms at Pop Century, if anyone is deciding between them. I love having the nightstands on BOTH sides of the bed. Plus there are plenty of outlets and USB ports. Housekeeping came every other day to change our towels and take out the trash. We also requested a box fan the first night we arrived, since we use them at home. Someone from housekeeping delivered it within 30 minutes of our request.

We had a preferred room since that was the only room-type available. We requested the Toy Story section, and that’s where we ended up. It was a great location since it was close to the main section. It was perfect, since we were going back and forth to the pool and to fill our mugs.

The food court was very easy to navigate as well. Once you placed your mobile order, you could wait in the hallway until the order was ready. If you just wanted to refill your mug, you could bypass the people waiting and go directly inside. There was a cast member letting people inside the food court and another one directing the drink line. Really the only issue I had with the food court, was the limited menu. It seemed like there weren’t a lot of options.

We used the buses exclusively on this trip. I thought they were very efficient. We rope dropped 3 days and had no trouble making it to the parks on time. We waited the longest for a bus to AK. It didn’t come until 7:00 for an 8:00 opening. We waited over 30 minutes and I was getting anxious. However we still made it inside the park by 7:15. My theory was since Movies is so close to AK, the buses don’t start coming until later. But we only went one day to AK, so I don’t really know. The buses with MK and HS came at least 90 minutes early before park opening. And at closing, the buses were coming sometimes right behind each other, but no more than 5-10 minutes apart.

We only used the Fantasia pool and it’s was nice. A couple of nights, some in our group went to Movie night as well. And that was fun too!

We’ve stayed at Movies before, but this was a longer stay. It was a great experience and I would totally stay here again!
