Disneynerd420's Jan 2010 Birthday Trip Report! (PART 3 IS NOW UP)

Yay - another Disnerd TR! Loved your last one and enjoying this one too. So cool to see The Wheel Inn again - did you tell them 'Large Marge' sent ya??
We went to Palm Springs after our DL trip in April last year and had to rent 'Pee Wee's Big Adventure' so our 10 and 7 yo sons would understand why their folks were going so nuts about a roadside diner!
(fortunately they LOVED the movie and got a big kick out of visiting the Wheel Inn)
Keep the TR coming - I am so impressed by your dedication in taking so many pics and then posting them all - it really is impressive!

I'm so glad that you guys are enjoying the TR!

I have been so busy the last few days. I'm actually typing this from work right now! :lmao: I promise I will have the next installment up tonight!

I'm following along. I love trip reports filled with pictures. It was REAALLY rainy in northern california too that week, and driving is just not fun in a downpour.

My trip last March was supposed to have rain but it never happened. Glad you got to walk onto so many rides!

Thanks for being paitent guys... I have been really busy since I got back. Saturday was my actual birthday and I was pretty busy all weekend. I am also in the process of moving and that takes up alot of time right now too. But I am determined to finish this!

So, lets move on to Part 3!!!

After our rainy ride down Splash Mountain, we decided that we were finnally ready for some food! Neil being a picky eater, we headed to Red Rocket's.

After some mediocre undercooked pizza, we packed up and headed towards the main entry plaza with DCA as our destination!.

100_3531.jpg

Neil had never been to DCA, as the last time he visited was prior to it's construction.

(Neil making silly faces in the rain)

I stopped to smile... apparently I cannot walk and smile at the same time.
100_3534.jpg

Our first stop in Neil's first DCA tour had to be TOT, as Neil was complaining that DLR did not have any scary rides.

100_3535.jpg

I think he is actually trying to look cool in this photo...

100_3536.jpg

No scary rides... huh? Notice the look of pure terror on Neil's face.

100_3541.jpg

I did not know it at this time, but apparently TOT was a little much for Neil. I think he will ride it, but I don't think he enjoys it. I feel bad, I made him go on it several times.

After Tower, we headed over to watch Muppets 3D, as both Neil and I share an unnatural love for the muppets.

100_3543.jpg

I wished I would have taken more pics but I became to absorbed in the preshow.

Once the show was over, I suggested Monster's inc, but Neil only had one thing in mind... California Screamin!

We cut through the new path the leads into Bug's Land from Hollywoodland. Nice shortcut! I hated having to walk all the way back to the sunshine plaza and then pass Bug's land.

100_3544.jpg

As to be expected, there was only a 10 min standby wait for Screamin. We quickly headed up the stairs.

100_3545.jpg

100_3546.jpg

It stopped raining long enough for us to get on the ride and make it all the way through the loop and then it started up again. I don't know if you have ever been on Screamin in the rain, but it feels like razor blades hitting your skin. It's pretty cool, but painful.

Neither of us could open our eyes!

100_3548.jpg

Since it was still coming down pretty heavy, we hopped in line for TSMM. This is a great one to get in line for in the rain... Both times I have done so I have not waited more than 15 minutes.

100_3549.jpg

Mr Potato head would make one big box of fries.
100_3550.jpg

After a fun time on Mania, at which I wupped Neil's butt, we headed back to Screamin!

100_3551.jpg

100_3552.jpg

Needing a break, I stopped at the Grizzly River Trail smoking section and Neil was fascinated by some wild mushrooms.

100_3554.jpg

After I put out my cigarette we headed back to Disneyland proper. Upon exiting DCA, we were informed that the parks would be closing early due to the low attendance. We were disappointed, but wanting to make the best of it we decided we would just try and do as much as we could before our ressies at ESPN Zone. Knowing that the park was still empty, we headed to Fantasyland.

100_3555.jpg

Just a pic of us in line for the Matterhorn....

100_3556.jpg

After our bobsled run down the snowy mountain, we headed over to say hello to some Disney ducks. We quickly learned that Neil was able to become their lord with leftover foccacia bread from pizza port.

100_3561.jpg

After feeding our web toed friends we headed back to fantasyland to take in some of the dark rides. Little did we know that we would be walking straight through hell!

Part 4 coming soon!

THANK YOU ALL FOR READING! PLEASE LEAVE ME SOME LOVE IF YOU ENJOYED IT!

This picture of you is super cute.

Love your trip report, as always. I don't know how you do it though, outside of taking notes. When we went back in December, I was totally going to do a TR and then realized I'm nowhere near organized enough to do it. Plus, I find that when I'm at Disneyland, I hate taking pictures. I feel like I'm missing out in the actual moment.

Yay for more updates and photos! I have to admit, I'm probably one who wouldn't enjoy Disneyland in the rain but it sure would be nice to be there with no crowds!

Can't wait for more.

Great report so far. Man rain both in Dec and Jan when you went, but I agree no crowds is awesome. Looking forward to the rest!

Wow, they nasty weather we had up here was down there too. Poor guys, I have been there in the rain. The main plus is the crowds are much smaller, and the rides you really want to ride on a smaller wait. Keep up the great trip report.

Great Update! Wow, it sure looks WET!!!

I think it's interesting that CMs said they were closing for low attendance. "Officially" they were saying it was due to the flooding. Hmmmm, maybe a combo?:confused3

:cool1:A new Disneynerd trip report!! I really enjoyed your first two so I'm sure this one will be on par:thumbsup2 Did I miss one for December?

I'll be here following along and I have to say the pic of you guys on Screamin in the rain cracks me up:laughing:, that's a good one.

I really enjoy your Trip Reports. You always share all the fun details and take nice pics.

I hear you on loving those rainy days. They are not that bad and crowds are so light......

Just caught up on this one and read your last report! We are planning our first trip to DLR in July and I loved all of your pics ... especially the food porn! I know it applies to your last report, but I really liked seeing all the pics of the Goofy's Kitchen buffet! Thank you for taking all of those!

Looking forward to the rest of this one!

Hello fellow AZ Disney Junkie!! I'm really enjoying your TR so far!! The pics are great, even with the gloomy skies!!

You guys are awesome... I have not had any time lately to sit down and work on this! I finally have a house picked out and am just waiting to find out that I definitely got it. In the meantime, I have been packing and doing other needed errands.

I will have an update up very shortly.

I am another avid reader!
Love your TR's!!!
You put so much magic into your TR's with all the funny little added jokes and it makes me feel as if I was there, even if its just through pictures. LOL
Great job so far! Cant wait for the rest... :)

Oh and I think I would absolutely LOVE 10 minute wait times. :)
Sorry it was soo rainy for you and your friend.
