Hi! Let me tell you a little about myself before I get started! My name is Heather. I am a stay at home mom of two beautiful girls. I am a step mother to one grown daughter. My husband is my soul mate, my best friend and a great support to me. I wasn't always a bit over weight. Before I had my first daughter, I was very thin (my husband says too thin). I gained some when I was pregnant with her, but quickly lost most of it. I was a healthy size and really happy with my body (other than those hateful stretch marks). I was a smoker who stupidly started back, after I gave birth. well I finally quit for good about 5 years ago, and in the process started to gain weight. Not to much at first, but it slowly piled on. I then got pregnant with my littlest daughter and gained even more weight. Unfortunately, when I gave birth it didn't leave! So here I am two years later still carrying around my "baby" weight. I have tried several "diets" and lost some of it, but I always seem to slip up and then give up. I started WW on Monday. So far, I feel like I am doing great! I gave myself the first 2 days to get into the habit of writing my food down, keeping track of my points and trying to choose better options. On day 3 I added in a little exercise. Here I am at day 4 and I really feel like I can do this. I love that I don't have to deny myself, if I am really craving something, I just eat it and mark down my points and adjust the rest of my day. I already can see myself making adjustments to the way I eat. I haven't grabbed that mid afternoon sweet that I used to because I don't want to waste my points on something that won't keep me feeling full. I measure everything to make sure I am only getting one serving size. I'm eating breakfast, something that I rarely did before. I have about 40 pounds that I need to lose in order to get my BMI in a good place. After that I will reevaluate and see if I need to try for a few more pounds! I'll try to update daily, maybe more, because I feel that putting it out here will keep me accountable!

Well today is day 5!!! I fell great and am really enjoying the freedom that WW seems to give me. I don't mind picking healthier options when I know that if I really want I can enjoy something not so healthy. For me, it is all about being in control. As long as I don't feel like I am denying myself something I am really happy to eat healthier. Yesterday I made up some weekly goals for myself.

Stay within my points ( including using my allowance) later I will try to go it without using my allowance, but for now I need to know I have a few extra if I mess up
Exercise at least 4 times a week
Drink 5 glasses of water each day
will up this goal as I go along also
No more than 2 diet sodas a day
Journal food/points each day
Journal online at least once a day
try at least one new recipe a week

Well today was my first official weigh in! I'm down 3 lbs!!!!! I am so excited! The best part was that at no time last week did I feel as though I was denying myself. this plan is so easy for me to follow. this week I plan on getting more exercise and trying out some new WW recipes. another wonderful thing about me starting this is my husband is doing better also. I've been measuring out his portions also, since he will eat as much as I put on his plate. I hope that I can inspire him to start counting points soon. This week I am also going to try to plan out a menu for the whole week and try to use less of the allowance of points. Tomorrow I am headed for the grocery store with a list of foods taken from WW recipes. I can't wait to try some new things.

Today was grocery day! It was wonderful to feel myself really looking at foods for their nutritional values. I did less impulse shopping and more thinking about the things I put into my cart. Tonight I am trying a new recipe, a WW recipe in fact. It sounds delicious, so I cannot wait to taste it. Did great on my points yesterday! So far so good today, and I've made sure to journal all of my food (even that tall mocha). Fortunately the mocha was nonfat and no whip, which made it a reasonable snack and oh so delicious! I love my mocha, so I'm glad that I have found a way to enjoy it without blowing my points.

Linda, Thanks for being concerned! Things have been a little crazy around here. I live on the MS Gulf Coast and we are all going a little crazy watching Gustav and worrying, preparing and praying. I've been sticking to the plan, but it's been tough to resist the urge to eat, as I have been so stressed. Thursday wasn't such a good day, my sister brought my daughter a happy meal when she came to drop off her son and of course my DD didn't finish it and mommy had a few bites(okay more like half the burger). Afterwards I felt so horrible that I had wasted points on that. Oh well, you live and learn right? Friday is mommy doesn't have to cook night, DH always picks up something on his way home from work for dinner. Well Dh and DDs had Wendy's but I chose to have Subway and it was really delicious!

Good job on the Subway!

I hope the storm goes back out to sea soon. Our country cannot take any more devastation.

My thoughts are with you guys!

Linda
