DAY 1 of 3
DAY 2 of 3

Day THREE of our trip report! Details:

When: Sunday-Tuesday, May 21-23, 2006
Who: DH, me, DS5 (42") and DD3 (38")
Where: Disneyland, Disney's California, the beach
Hotel: Red Roof Inn Anaheim
Transportation: drove from AZ, took ART tram to the park
Park Package: 3 day park hopper passes, with Early Entry (SO WORTH IT!) and Mickey's Toontown Morning Madness.
Weather: almost perfect, cool in the mornings & evenings (bring jackets), perfect in the afternoon the first two days, drizzled Monday morning but nothing serious. By Tuesday it was HOT in the afternoon and we got a bit red.

Alright, the LAST day of our trip! We decided to go over to Disney California again this morning, but first we stopped at Disneyland to ride the Fantasyland rides one more time. California didn't open until an hour after Disneyland so we wanted to kill time before then. The kids were pretty tired after 2 full days in the park, so we rented a stroller for them, which helped out a lot. The last three days we had seen the paid Disney photographers posted all over the park taking people's pictures at all the scenic spots. We had opted not to get any, but after 3 days I decided we *needed* a family picture in front of the Castle. :D I'm glad we did, because they turned out SUPER cute. And really, its not so expensive for what you're getting. Especially if you only choose one print (they take multiple shots) and only get one size. We ended up buying two different pictures, both 5x7 sized. I figured we could just scan them at home if we needed different sizes later, but I was planning on just putting them in frames anyway. The one with DS5 "holding" Tinkerbell was so darn cute. After DL we headed over to California. There aren't a ton of rides in this park for preschoolers (outside of Its a Bugs Land- which is a MUST SEE), but theres a lot of fun things to do and see. Its definitely worth going over for a full day.

Since we had already been to Bugs Land and Hollywood Backlots the day before, we headed over to Paradise Pier first. We rode Mulhollands Madness and did the child switch thing, DS5 LOVED the ride! He rode it once w/ Dad and once w/ Mom. Then we walked by the S.S. Rustworthy which was fun for the kids to play on. We wasted a bit of time there actually, about an hour, but it was nice just to sit. Next time we'll cut the time in half so we can go on more rides. Next DH and DS5 rode the Jellyfish Jumpers which he liked. we rode the Ferris Wheel, which both kids liked, and I HATED, lol. I found out I very mush dislike going up that high, over the water, and sitting there. :scared: We had even chosen a stationary car for the kids! :P

Afterwards we went on King Triton's Carousel which was fantastic! The kids absolutely loved this ride- it is a must-do! They rode it twice in a row! All the animals are sea creatures and are the cutest things I've ever seen. I wanted to ride on every single one! :D

I really wish we had had time to go on the Grizzly River Run, Soarin' Over California, and California Screamin...but I think that woudlve been too much on the kids to wait for us on all those rides. Maybe DH and I can get away for a couple days by ourselves and go back! :)

Around this time it was close to noon, and we had wanted to head out early that day and stop at the beach before driving home that night. But I had wanted to get the kids' silhouettes done before we left, so we went back over to Disneyland "real quick" to get them. My brother and I had gotten them done when we were little and they hang in my mother's house still to this day. So I thought it would be really sweet and sentimental for my two kids' to get theirs done as well.

We went down Main Street USA and stopped at the shop. I was really kicking myself that we hadnt done it the day before when there was NO LINE at all, because today it was all the rage. There were three different families ahead of us and all of them were getting multiple silhouettes with extras on them, for a handful of kids. I asked how long the wait would be and the lady who did them said it would be an hour. That was *exactly* how much time we had before we had to catch the last tram out before their lunch break, in time to get back to our hotel and pack up and leave for the beach. I was totally bummed. :guilty: We decided to stay until the last possible minute and hope for the best.

The minutes ticked by and it came down to do or die time, and there was one group left in front of us that seemed to be two related families (sisters and their kids?) with a handful of kids each. I asked how many silhouettes they were getting and she said all the kids were more than one. So it was obvious we weren't going to make it on time. :sad2:

We decided to go ahead and miss the tram and stay a few more hours which was a big bummer as we were all tired and it was pretty hot that day. We went across the street and decided to get lunch at Refreshment Corner. The service was awful, so slow it was truly ridiculous. I stood in line for over an hour just to get some hot dogs. I really dont understand why it took so long for them to serve people, because all they have there are premade hot dogs, soft pretzels and drinks. By the time we finally ate it was about time to go back to the silhouette lady. This time there was no one in line and we went right on in. The kids' silhouettes turned out so cute though, so I'm glad we stayed (even if it did make us miserable!)

WE still had some time to kill until the next tram would be back at the park, so we wandered over to Adventureland and decided to go into the Tikki Tikki Room. I had never seen this before, so I was curious what all the hype was about. I stood in line first to get a Dole Whip but when it was my turn I found out they only took cash, and I just had debit. Bummer! (note to self: next time carry cash!) The show/song was fun, and the kids liked it. Afterwards we left the park for good and went back to the hotel, packed up, and drove to the beach.

The beach was disappointing. It took much much longer to get there then we had anticipated and it was sort of chilly and extremely windy- the sand felt like needles on your legs, you could barely walk down to the shoreline (DD3 and I didnt) We just stayed in the car and napped while DH and DS5 braved it out and actually got in the water. We only stayed for about 45 minutes then they changed and we headed out. Traffic was awful, and we got stuck in rush hour for over an hour. SIGH.

We stopped for gas somewhere, and then decided to drive across the street to get some dinner at a fast food place. Well, DH didn't put his seatbelt back on after getting the gas (I always get on his case about this!!!) and as we drove across the street and into the next strip mall, guess who's waiting on the corner? A motorcycle cop, YEP! And he pulled us over right away! I guess they had just started the whole seatbelt crackdown thing, and boy was he ready! Though I was actually sort of grateful because I'm always nagging my DH to put his seatbelt and this taught him a lesson, lol.

After all the drama ended we finally got on the interstate, the sun went down and we had a peaceful drive home. (and DD3 didn't throw up at all this time!) Woo-hoo! :thumbsup2

So in ending, it was a really fun trip with only a few speedbumps along the way. And we ironed out a lot of the kinks this trip, so next time should be *PERFECT*. (haha) :rotfl: Thanks for reading my trip report and HAPPY PLANNING! I hope this helps someone out. :D

THE END! :)

Aww, sorry about the mishaps but you still had fun right?! I had my 2 DDs (then 3 and 7 mos) silhoettes done last year and they were so cute! We are going to do it again this year in June.
