I was wondering if anyone has a great expert Disneyland trvel agent to recommend?

We are planning a blow out trip for our first visit maybe this August. I am sure a lot of you would say it's not necessary for a Disneyland trip, but we would love to talk with someone who really knows the ins and outs.

Let me know who you've used to book Disneyland trip packages.

Thanks!

I always do all my own booking of the trips because travel planning is something I LOVE to do. Heck if I had had time last August I would have planned my ex-husband's trip for him but I was in Disneyland at the time and without my computer it was difficult to plan it for him. I know that many of the bloggers recommend or use Get Away Today travel and seem pretty happy with them. I am sure others will have their recommendations.

That said, I did a big blowout trip one year at DLR and while others may have thought it crazy at the time, I loved everything about it. From splurging for a theme park view at GCH, to the many sit down dinners we did, it was amazing. No matter what you do though, I hope you have the best time!

I would highly suggest little research here and booking on your own. Packages are not necessary at DL. Buying tickets and hotel separately can save you money if you do it right.

If you are absolutely opposed to booking yourself, I would recommend Get Away Today.

Another vote for getaway today. Although planning a DLR visit is really not all that complicated

Thanks for the quick advice everyone.

That being said, what is the advantage to booking rooms ( on property- Grand Californian) with out tickets? A non package so to speak. I am used to WDW booking room and ticket together.

If your set on GCH then a package is probably best for tix and hotel but may not be best to bundle air and ground unless you want the convenience of a one stop shop.

I recently booked with WDTC through Costco as it was the best price . Hotel and tix package

Two pluses booking with Costco are: 1) if you have the Costco Card that gives you 2% back, you get that on your booking.
2) Once you put your deposit down, you can pay for the rest of the trip with Disney gift cards. (Perhaps Disney gift cards purchased at Target with the red card - 5% discount).

Another vote for Get Away Today. They were fantastic the first time I used them for a Disneyland trip from giving me great hotel advice to getting me a free suite upgrade. They also took the time to talk me through dining advice, days to spend at the park, etc. It was the first vacation I took my son on and I was so overwhelmed and they helped make it perfect. I like how they take their people out there every year to make sure they’re familiar with the hotels. Makes their advice more useful I think.

That being said, I usually do all the planning myself now but I do still use them to bundle my ticket, hotel, shuttle tickets, etc.

Have you tried contacting Dreams Unlimited, the owner of these boards? They have agents who specialize in DLR trips. You might want to give them a call or send an email, just to find out more information. :)

For an August trip:
Summer is a great time to visit the parks because when the parks are prepared for the crowds, things run really smoothly. The parks are ready to absorb and spread out the crowds so that you don't really feel them like you do during low/non-peak season (when shorter hours, more refurbs, less staffing, less entertainment, etc. all mean fewer options to spread the crowds -- so you really feel them).
Check the AP Blockout Calendar -- the more APs blocked, the better. Try to avoid the days right after any passes are unblocked -- there will be a wave of APs flooding the parks to get their Disney fix. Does Marvel matter to you? Avengers Campus should open "Summer 2020," but we don't have an official date yet. By August, it should be open. I would try to visit before the third week of August when HM should go down for the installation of the Halloween overlay, when the lower AP blockout should begin to lift (remember that wave I mentioned earlier?), and when the parks should go back to the non-peak/low season schedule. Star Wars Celebration will be in Anaheim this year at the end of August, so that's another busy week to avoid. With all that in mind, just pick the dates that work best for you and your family, double check here to make sure that nothing crazy will coincide with your dates, then book and plan your trip!

I used to use AAA when they were in partnership with Disney. You used to be able to get the cheapest prices with AAA. Even cheaper than booking direct with WDTC! Now everything I see is the same price as the WDTC packages.

Nowadays I book directly with Disney. That way I have 'control' over my own reservations. It's been years since I used a TA, but it used to be that the TA 'owned' your reservation and you couldn't see it, make payments, or change anything online. It all had to go through the TA. I chose to eliminate that middleman (since it didn't save me any $$) and book direct, either online or by phone. The CMs I've dealt with at WDTC have always been wonderful and accommodating. We made quite a few adjustments to our last WDW package (adding days, extending stay) and the CMs were always great (and patient) and worked hard to be sure we did things in the least expensive way.

But HEY EXPERTS, is there an advantage to using Dreams Unltd for WDW? Are their prices less than direct? Do you have access to your reservation on MDE? How do you do the advanced dining and FP+ ressies? Can you still pay monthly online? We're going in 2021 so will be booking in June and I'd love to support them IF it works to my advantage.

Try asking this on the WDW boards. You should get lots of answers there from experienced DISers!
