We are flying out of LAX after our Disneyland vacation. Our flight leaves at 9 am on Sunday. I cannot find anything that says how long we should except it to take to get there or how early we need to be at the airport. I figured we would need to leave the hotel by 6am. Does that sound right????

If I remember correctly the shuttle that we used last summer picked us up 2 hours in advanced to bring us back to LAX.

Our trip is scheduled for next week. Everything I have read, recommends you be at the LAX airport 2 hours prior to your flight to check in. Per Mapquest LAX is about 35 miles from the DL resort area and about 45 minutes drive.
We will be at the DL Hotel and using the Greyline, the booklet they sent says that "depending on traffic" it could take an hour to get to LAX from the resort area. Our shuttle bus is showing our pick up time as 11:30 for a 2:40 flight so leaving the hotel at 6am sounds correct :thumbsup2

In the mornings, rush hour traffic is worse heading north and west from Disneyland. I live close to the airport, and the shortest route, during morning rush hour, would take you about 1:00-1:30 hours on weekdays. Also, the time you need at the airport depends on your airline. Southwest takes the longest to check in if you are checking bags (I've stood in line an hour to check a bag during the holiday season). Other airlines are a bit smoother during check in, but then their security lines take forever to get through. So when they say give yourself two hours at LAX they aren't just being overly cautious. :)

Thank you so much for these details.
We are also flying out on a Sunday but our flight isn't until 2:40 so rush hour shouldn't be a factor. We are flying SW but only carry on's.
This still gives a great perspective and i thank you so much!

We flew out on a Saturday last month. Our flight out of LAX was at 8:30 am and we left our hotel at 6:00 am. Travel time took 45 minutes from the hotel to the airport. We are PSA pre-checked and got through bag check and security in about 30 minutes (Delta was dead quiet). We could have easily left 30 minutes later, but I like to have a cushion of extra time.

I figure Sunday morning traffic would be a little lighter but we will have to check a bag.
