I haven't stayed at the Disneyland Hotel yet (will in August) but I have stayed a couple of times at PP with a park view. It's awesome! Especially now with World of Color.

This was December 2008:

We have stayed in both types of rooms, and I would absolutely stay at the PPH. The view is awesome. I would make sure to request as high a floor as possible.
I found the PP to be a very friendly, welcoming hotel. I did not get that same vibe at the DLH, after staying there 3 different times.

We stayed in a park view room at the PPH in March & absolutely loved our room & view!! We were on the 9th floor & watched WoC one evening from our room (they simulcast the music on the tv). Loved the brightness of the room, the roominess, the beach whimsy & the staff! Would stay here every trip if we could afford to do so!!

I agree. I also have stayed in both types of room and I loved my stay at PPH. The staff there is very friendly--much more so than the staff at the DLH and the Grand.

I posted a thread on here a couple of months back about the same thing! I haven't been to either, and staying on-site is going to be a special thanksgiving treat for our family. We ultimately decided to go with the PPH theme park view. They are both disney hotels, both very close to the parks, both have that element of magic. That being said, I would much rather have a theme park view than a parking lot view!! :rotfl:

Brand new hotel room in the DLH. Don't we all spend more time looking inside our room rather than out the window. New water slides. More dining options. Facts.

How friendly staff is. Opinions.

Although I have not stayed at PPH yet, but would like to try it, I have walked there for dinner at the Grill. To me, the walk to the parks from DLH (through DTD) is much better than the walk from PPH. I agree with skiingfast that the amenities far outweigh the amenities at PPH. For me, it is a matter of theming. I like the nostalgic theme of DLH.I have splurged on a theme park view at DLH (which was awesome) but we didnt spend much time looking outside. Either way, I am sure you will enjoy your stay!!

Ive never stayed at any of the 3 hotels yet. But i chose the DLH for our upcoming June trip. For whatever reason, when i was doing research i got the feeling that PP was the "red headed stepchild" of the three.

But those pics overlooking DCA are nice.

I think the best thing to do is find pics of the DLH rooms after they were refurbed......the pic I posted was on the newly refurbed PPH rooms. I myself, like the lighter wood colors....which is why we chose it over the DLH & the Grand. As for the dining choices.....its just a matter of walking to whatever restaurant you want......you're not stuck just eating at one of the hotels. My family really enjoys the PCH Grill for dinner & even when we stay at the HoJo, we go for one dinner over there. You can also find pics of the pool areas (if this is a priority in chosing a place). All 3 resorts offer nice pools.

Opinions on which is better will be just that......opinions. Everyone has certain things they look for when booking a motel/hotel. Good luck in deciding!

Some families prefer not needing to walk past all of the stores in DD to get to the DH, If you cut through GC to get to PP, you do cut out a lot of the DD temptation.

Haven't stayed at PPH yet, but just got back from staying at the DLH and the rooms were beautifully appointed and it had a nice resort feel. That being said - it depends on when your trip is supposed to be. They were renovating the lobbies while we were there which I didn't think would be a big deal until we were trying to get back to our room and found that the entrance we'd been using for the previous couple of days was blocked, and we had to walk and walk to try to find a different entrance into the Dream tower. When we found the right entrance someone who just checked in was on the elevator with us and had been sent to the old entrance that was now blocked by the CM (this was around 2p). So construction, while it didn't ruin our stay, was definitely inconvenient when you find you _can't_ get to your room. So if your stay is coming up soon I'd say PPH, if its further out the DLH renovated rooms are simply gorgeous.
