I am seriously thinking about attending the D23 Expo in September. I have never been to Disneyland. Can you walk from one of the Disneyland Resorts (Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian) to the Anaheim Convention Center? I understand that the convention center is just accross the street from Disneyland.

Also would it be easier to get to Disneyland by flying into the John Wayne Airport instead of LAX?

Thanks!

The convention center isn't really just across the street from Disneyland. It's across the street from the Timon parking lot. You can walk to there pretty quick but you'd then have to walk all the way across the lot to the tram which then takes you to the front enterance. It's not a bad walk. 10 minutes or so total.

The Disney hotels are all on the opposite side and are not in walking distance to the convention center.

There are a few hotels within walking distance of the convention center and near the Timon lot. If you dont want to walk that much you can always use the Anaheim transit buses that take you from most area hotels to the convention center and Disneyland. Day passes are cheap enough.

John Wayne Orange County airport is a quick easy drive to Disneyland, much easier than LAX but both are doable. Long Beach is another alternative not far from Disneyland. Other alternatives are Ontario or Burbank. The latter is near Universal Studios about 45 minute drive north of Disneyland.

It's really not a bad walk, comparable to walking from the entrance of DCA to California Screamin'. Here's a Wikimapia map, with the DL Hotel in the upper left and the convention center at the bottom. You'd want to walk south on Disneyland Drive (the road between DLH, PP, and GCH) and then east on Katella. Do not walk through DTD and through the Timon lot to get to the convention center - that indeed would be too far.

Definitely a long long walk but keep your ears and eyes open for cab sharing and ride sharing on that day. Could be others out there who would share a cab with you then.

Thanks for all of the replies and information.:thumbsup2

I would say that if you are used to walking then it won't be an issue for you. I have walked it before, and my daughter & her friend were at a weekend convention, and walked to Downtown Disney (between the hotels & Disney parks) several times during the weekend.

If you aren't used to walking then you might want to get a cab.

We just returned from DL, our first trip in 30 years. We walked to 7-11 at the corner of Katella and Harbor from the Disneyland Hotel on the 2nd day of our trip. This is near the Convention Center, but you would take the same route. If you are going to walk, the Grand Californian, or Paradise Pier would be closest. Disneyland Hotel is the furthest.

BUT I was there for a conference and while reading the conference schedule boards near the front entrance of the DLH, I noticed that another conference has scheduled a regular shuttle to the convention center just for thier attendees that were staying at Disney resorts? Don't you think that D23 planners would think of that?? They would not expect ALL Disneylovers to in shape and ready to walk each day to atttend the convention? I would think that they may include some kind of special transportation for people who stay at those resorts??:hippie:
