I'm planning a trip for October 2015. We will arrive Sunday evening (the day before Columbus Day) and be there for Columbus Day, and the Tuesday and Wednesday that follow. I just had a few questions for anyone who has been there during October (I havent!)

First, what are the refurbishments usually like?

Second, this isn't October related, but our flight gets in around 9:45 pm. Does Supershuttle have specific hours, or will it be running around that time?

Third, this is my boyfriend's first trip. He isn't enthused at all. In fact, I was showing him a video of the Tiki Room, and singing along (typical for someone excited, right? :rotfl:), and he told me that if he didn't know me, he would think I am legitimately crazy! :rotfl2: He just doesn't get it! So does anyone have advice for the quintessential Disney experience that may convert him into a lover like all of us?! HELP!

Fourth, what are some special foods/events that only happen during October that we cant miss?!

I used to go a lot when I was younger, but haven't been since I was a senior in high school, about 6 years ago. You guys are the experts, so please help me! :confused3

It's worth noting that the Sunday before Columbus Day is when CHOC walk happens in the parks, so it is typically very crowded in the parks that day. Columbus Day itself will also be busy, but Tuesday and Thursday should be mostly manageable. October is considered part of the non-peak season, which means fireworks, F!, and Mad T Party are generally only presented on weekend nights (Fri, Sat and Sun), but WoC is generally presented nightly. We do not yet know what the non-peak season schedule will be for PtN.

I think SuperShuttle runs as longs as there are flights arriving at the airport. I would look into pre-booking SuperShuttle because that will tell you if they have shuttles at your arrival time or not.

In terms of food and events, by Columbus Day weekend, the parks should be in full HalloweenTime mode. That means Haunted Mansion and Space will have their Halloween overlays, Big Thunder Ranch should have its Hallowen Carnival overlay in place, and there should be some Halloween/Fall decor in place. They should also have started having Mickey's Halloween Parties (separate ticket required), but we do not yet know the dates or prices (or really any details for 2015). We don't yet know how much of HalloweenTime will be impacted by the 60th Anniversary. Last year, information about the parties came out in early July, but with the 60th this year, it's hard to say if the pattern will hold.

In terms of food, there are seasonal items - lots of amazing Halloween themed treats - and some autumn inspired dishes.

Scroll down the posts on page 1 of the Halloween Time at DLR Superthread, for photos and info on themed activities, overlays and treats -- http://www.disboards.com/threads/ha...iting-info-about-halloween-time-2015.3270919/

You'll see a lot of references to 2014's info -- which I leave there as we're waiting for the details for 2015, but we will be chatting about those dates and details there, when they are released. Please jump into the thread and join us at any time (you don't have to read the whole thread), if you want to follow along with Halloween Time and Mickey's Halloween Party info, or just want to ask questions about the general seasonal offerings.

Disneyland is really the only park that gets any Halloween décor to speak of, unless there are surprises in store for California Adventure this year.

You can check past schedules here http://www.disboards.com/threads/historical-dlr-park-hours-entertainment-and-refurbs.2291124/ click on "October" and look for the refurbishments list. This will also give you an idea of the parks hours and schedule.

Which airport are you flying into?
Where are you staying?
Depending on which airport, you might consider a taxi so you are able to go directly to your hotel.

Since it's his first trip, he may not "GET IT" until you're on the trip. Hopefully he will find the joy while in the parks.

If you want to see food in general here's a link to a thread for food. http://www.disboards.com/threads/my-disneyland-dining-reviews-with-pictures.1253888/page-191
