Disneyland Monorail Closure Question

After one of our nights at Disneyland, we plan to hit up Trader Sam's for a bit of food and drink when the park closes. I'm thinking it would be quite handy to pop onto the monorail and zoom out to the DTD station closer to the DLH... BUT knowing my luck, it'll be closed before closing or something silly, so I thought I'd ask the experts here.

Does the monorail close down prior to park closing? Or does the last monorail depart just before the park is to close? The night we plan on doing this, Disneyland is set to close at 11 PM. If it does close before the park... what time does the last monorail depart (we would have to seriously consider leaving the park early if that's the case)?

On a related note, I remember seeing on here that the monorail is now running under reduced hours during the day. Is this still the case or was that just temporary? Something like from park opening til 11 AM and then like... after 6 PM or something?? A refresher on this information would be appreciated if it is indeed still being operated in this manner...

Thanks!!

they had been shutting down the Monorail during the fireworks, but I haven't been there since the changes for Galaxy Edge.

the afternoon shutdown is being explained as it being too hot in the cars in the afternoon heat. I understand it's the times you mentioned. most people see it as just a cost savings issue.

I think the end time is before park closing but I'm not sure of the details.

I don't know about park closing, but when it is hot is when they shut it down during the day. We were there from July 29 thru Aug 2 and it was not running all week from 1 to 6.

There is no AC in those metal tubes. They rely on the wind flow thru the small windows to cool the inside of the monorail. If it gets over 80, they shut it down til it cools down. GENERALLY, it is reopened by 6-7p.

And according to announcements, last monorail leaves at park closing. That said, we've been in line and they have ran twice after closing to clear the lines.

Alright, good to know. Well... unless anybody states otherwise, we'll just be sure to hop in the monorail queue before the park closes at 11 PM, just to be safe.

Thanks!

I too have ridden the monorail at or slightly after closing but I think your plan to be on the platform just before park closing is a good one to be safe.

Thanks for the double confirmation!

FWIW, some friends set out to do every ride in both parks recently. The last attraction on their list was The Monorail. They arrived at the TL entrance at 12:01 a.m.... and it was closed :-( (they did everything else in both parks, however).

Now: I’ll be at the park on Saturday and will see what I learn from CMs. There’s a female CM I’m acquainted with that works on/at it and I’ll keep an eye out for her especially.

Agree 100%. I understand that DL’s policy is that if you’re in line for an attraction prior to park closure, you’ll be allowed to ride it even if it’s past closing time when you finally board.

When we were there last week, it was closed from 11 to 6 as well as for the fireworks. Seemed that it usually opened up around 10pm & then stayed open for the rest of the night. It was also closed on one of Disneyland’s early admission mornings but open for the other one (we stayed for 4 days).

I’m at the park now and just asked CMs at the Monorail about this. I was told that it closes at midnight and that guests wishing to ride should be in line no later than 11:59. Of course, this doesn’t guarantee that it will be open that late on the night you’d like to visit TS. Best of luck, though! Let us all know what happens :-).
