Disneyland in November

Look for dapper days dates. It can be a bit busy that weekend. However you can get great rates at the Disney owned hotels through the group rate if you’re interested in that. :)

Dapper Days does request that you participate in the convention (at least buy a ticket to the Expo for one day or dress up for one day) if you are going to use their discount rates.
Check to see if there will be Christmas Parade taping in the parks during early November. Historically it has been the first weekend or around that time, but the past two years the dates have been different. That can cause some congestion in the Town Square, Main Street, Hub, and castle areas because of camera equipment and taping schedules.
The park hours might not be long then and the entertainment schedules might not be nightly since it wil be between HalloweenTime and HolidayTime. The entertainment schedules will be published about 6 weeks out.

Veteren's day weekend can be pretty busy but in the past this has also been a race weekend which I think has been discontinued. anyone?

That's correct. No race this year. But that will likely be the opening weekend for Holiday Time so probably still pretty busy.

Trust me. Now that the race is gone, mid-November will be much better. Yes, Veteran's Day will still bring in folks for the weekend. But it won't be them AND the racers. Plus it'll be easier to get into a local hotel. The racers usually gobble them up 10 months in advance. Wish I was returning this year just to feel that "slower" feeling that I haven't seen at DL since 2014.

Isn't Run Anaheim (https://runanaheim.org) doing a race that weekend (it just isn't a Disney race)? I thought that the Race of Heroes was going to be that weekend and the Expo is at the Convention Center, so that might take up some hotel space and bring runners and families to the parks. Don't have any idea how popular this race will be since it's the innaugural event.
