Hi All,

Well just booked the Desert Inn Anaheim for June 6 - 11, 2016!! It will be me and my daughter and her friend. They will be graduating from Highschool and also an LPN Nursing Program so it will be their graduation gift. We are super excited!!! It's been since 2006 since we have been to Disneyland. Couple of questions...

Any ideas of crowds??? I thought going Monday through Friday would be better.
What will we miss by not going on the weekend?
Any thoughts on the Desert Inn Anaheim hotel? How far of a walk is it. How about the breakfast???

I thought of taking instant oatmeal and breakfast bars and maybe stopping and getting orange juice or something.

Any thoughts????

Thanks for answering.

No clue on how the crowds will be. Kind of a crap shoot. Schools may be out at that time.
As far as the Desert Inn,,,pretty nice. Right across the street.

California schools get out earlier than others, we are done by the end of May, so you will just be on the verge of the summer crowds, but the weather will be slightly less hot than July or August. Smart move to avoid weekends as more locals come then. You won't miss a thing by avoiding weekends. Your motel is very convenient to the main pedestrian plaza to the Disney parks. You'll love how close it is. Also, there are lots of places to grab morning snacks or meals near your motel or in Downtown Disney if you want something more than they offer.

The Desert Inn is super close. We wouldn't stay again-we liked having two rooms and the location but our room was very worn and not super clean and the indoor pool was awful-we have kids who love to swim, so that's a deal breaker for us but might not be for you. The breakfast was very minimal.

Is there any benefit of booking this far out? I can't imagine the discount would be any better than it will be in 6 months, or that it would fill up before then. Prices will probably actually fall a little closer to the actual date I would guess. Although I know the thrill of booking and planning too well, so maybe people book this far out just because they are that excited?

One thing to note is you will likely overlap with at least a few "Grad Nights" for those days. Some people say they don't notice much difference, but I think some of the big rides like space mtn and other areas get more crowded, especially at night.

Actually for DI&S, the further out you book, the more money you save. I'd say it's absolutely worth booking now. You can always cancel if you find a better deal.

We stayed at DI&S last Labor Day weekend, and loved how close it was to the parks. Just across the street - literally a 5 minute walk until you're actually lining up at the gates. It was definitely no frills, but we were very happy with the cleanliness and general state of our room. It was definitely not well worn, and seemed like it had been renovated in the last few years. While we were there, they were doing work to the fireworks viewing deck and the breakfast room, so they should be great now! The breakfast certainly wasn't extravagant - the usual bagels, cereal and toast. Can't remember if they had oats or not. Seems silly to bring your own if you can get it there. But there was definitely orange juice. We also found the indoor pool and hot tub less than inspiring, but we're not big pool users so it didn't really bother us.

Sorry I have no idea what the crowds are like in June.

Booking DI&S early is a very good idea. I saved almost 40% booking 11 months in advance on my last trip. I'm curious how the op booked for June 2016 though, as I don't see that DI&S has rates available yet?

I was just there June 14-20th & Saturday was hands down lighter then the weekdays. Maybe due to APs being blocked. We got so much done that morning! So if you are there over a weekend I would consider it if the APs are blocked.
