Is it a known fact that the more often you search for a particular trip, the price will go up eventually, but if you search on a different computer you will get the original price? Hopefully that makes sense. I have been on the fence about our upcoming trip, so I keep checking room prices. For the most part I have been at home, and the last few days the standard rooms at DLH disappeared and only Deluxe is available - upping the price by about $70/night. Yesterday I decided to check from my work computer, mostly to see if I could reserve the room, but cancel if we changed our mind in the next few weeks - and the prices were back to the original I was finding before. But, when I checked again from home - prices were back up.

I know someone once told me the first time you search for a flight on Hawaiian airlines is the lowest price they will offer - I wonder if Disneyland is similar.

Just thought I'd see if anyone experienced this before and maybe give a head's up to check from a different computer if the prices jump up.

I've seen the price jump around when you keep looking at it, it seems pretty random though..you can look at it a few more times and it will go down after going up...

Maybe it's because I constantly search the same dates I notice this..but unfortunately i don't think it's tied to cookies or your IP, because I've tested using incognito mode + VPN and the same prices came up..I think it may be demand based. (As in when they are getting hit with a lot of request for those days it raises the rate slightly then lowers it if there are no takers)

I haven't had this experience. I know last year when I booked our trip staying at the DLH I must have checked the rates probably 50 times before I booked and they were always the same. Occasionally room availability would change but that usually was caused by me switching something up with our days accidentally. Otherwise it always showed the same price/availability.

yes it is a known fact, its a bit techy but its to do with tracking cookies. I always make sure I do searches for hotels, flights, or any type of tickets using the Incognito Window on Google Chrome. That way your searches are not being tracked by the websites

There's something weird going on with dh because I was checking out their prices with new discounts today and their prices don't make any sense. Their room prices are down but dh price for club tpv is more than grand Californian and it shouldn't be????? The total with tickets for two nights on my dates are $2,065 and price for gch is $1,951.

I've had that happen on both the DLR and WDW websites. I just cleared cookies and it went back down. Had it happen on airline websites too.

I also wondered if it was because I was signed in at home, but at work, I'm not. I guess I'll have to figure out this incognito thing. lol

Would the same thing happened if I switch from Explorer to Chrome to search? Or is it the computer?

Probably supply and demand. DLH was probably much cheaper than GCH at first. Then everyone took advantage of the lower DLH price until demand got tight. At that point, rates go up. Which means it's probably a good time to book GCH before it goes up as well.

The most common tracking method is the cookies, browsers do not share cookies normally so that should do the trick.

But as I said..as far as what I've seen this is not the case for DLR, i'm guessing they just increase the price based on requests.

I have made sure not to have cookies AND made it appear as if I was requesting this information from another state.

How do you do this???? Nice idea.
My computer skills are extremely limited. But I can learn, if given the steps.

Anyone?

I've done the clearing of "cookies" and it doesn't really make a difference when I search for deals.

No, nothing to do with supply and demand, its to do with tracking cookies and websites and search patterns and algorithms.
